  1. Hightower has been a thorn in corporations for quite some time now... http://jimhightower.com/sites/jimhightower.civicactions.net/files/20-18_rnc.mp3 http://jimhightower.com/sites/jimhightower.civicactions.net/files/20-18_mnc.mp3
  2. The tweeters are mounted on the outside edge of the horn. Might modify it to the center above the horn.
  3. Michael - Great! That would put my rocking chair about 8' centered and away from the woodstove. Potential sweet spot for sound and heat in the winter. Will be interesting to see where the real world area lands.
  4. When I just posted the above message the lines to right were all screwed up. I went back and tried to clean it up some.
  5. Neil & Bruce, Thanks for the info. In reality the room really isn't square. There are 2 different ceiling heights of 9' and 7'10". Sorry for the poor man's CAD. Roughly like below, not that extreme just kind of the shape. X marks the spot that I was going to put the speaking. The shorter ceiling height is at the "top". Just have to play with it and see. Hopefully the sweet spot would by somewhere around the @'s. _________ | |_________ ________| | | @ | | @ | | _____ | |X_________| |________ X|
  6. I hoping to find out what the minimum and max distance separation people have experienced for hitting a sweet spot with corner horns. The living room that I was planning on putting the SpeakerLab SK's once I get 'em re-veneered and tweaked is about 25 ft between finished corner walls. Is this too far apart? The actual room is about 25' x 26' Thanks for your time
  7. Don't know if ya'll have seen these, thought you might be interested. A couple links that have some photos that don't seem to be making the national media, or at least not any that I've seen. However, gotta qualify that I don't have satellite or cable TV and don't plan to get it. I've pasted a message I rec'd the other day. Just wonder if the country is gonna stall for another 40 yrs.... Friends In response to the Gulf Oil Spill I was driven to write & record this the other day. Memphis Minnie's "What's the Matter with the Mill" was calling for a re-write. While I encourage you to share this, learn this and sing this, mostly I just hope the song becomes obsolete... listen: or watch: Ben Winship http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/06/caught_in_the_oil.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/30/louisiana-oil-spill-2010_n_558287.html#s95206 If the links don't work you should be able cut/paste on your http: window.
  8. DJK: What is the major difference between the PD4 and PD4V? I'm totally new to this.
  9. ab0ez, If you stumbel across those plans that would be sweet but don't knock yourself out. Once I get the fabric pulled and can get a looksee at the lower section I'm sure you guys can tell if these were based on a SpeakerLab set of plans. Thanks for the info.
  10. This is the last one so far. I haven't had a chance to get into the lower section. Once I get into it I'll post some pics. Not sure exactly what I'll end up doing with these aside from probably reskinning the veneer. To my ears they do sound very nice as is. Any help with identification would be appreciated.
  11. Thanks Wm McD! Hopefully this has a photo attached.
  12. I've got some photos but I haven't figured out how to post 'em on the forum yet.
  13. I recent;y picked up a pair of what I think are SpeakerLab k's. I was hoping to find a copy of SpeakerLab k plans to compare against what I just purchased. Aside from assuring me that they sounded very nice, here is what the owner told me about them: "The tweeters are Electro-Voice and I believe the woofers are Eminence (which are the drivers Speakerlab used in there clones). The midrange horns have Atlas (Model PD-4V) drivers which Speakerlab did not use. They are standard throat size horns so it would be easy to remove the Atlas drivers and replace them with more authentic drivers." The cabinets are a little rough and I really got these as a project to see what it would actually be involved in getting these restored into premo condition. They currently are stored in nice controlled environment waiting until we can start working on them. Only had time to get one speaker hooked up and was very impressed with the sound.
