  1. Don't you just hate girlfriends/wifes. Actually the wife is quite cool with it , she loves the way they look. We have the Icon X system in the living room which is more than enough for that room. I am starting to collect for a dedicated home theater, that is the only reason that I bought these.
  2. Well I finally sold all 4 of my F-30s and my 2 F-3s so I had the room to bring home my new RF-7 IIs and hook them up. Holy Freaking Crap!!!! Are you kidding me?? I had now idea they would sound that freakin good. I started them in 2 channel stereo and I kept having to check my sub to make sure it wasn't playing. I have them hooked up to my Onkyo TS-XR607 which is not a powerhouse receiver by any means, and 2/3 of the way up was way too loud for my living room. I can't imagine these with an amp with some real power. Also, (and I've read this before) I can't believe how big these are. My living room looks like it shrunk a little. I now know why these cost so much and why so many people are willing to drop that kind of cash on them. I can't wait to watch my first movie with these tonight!! The saddest part is that these aren't for my living room, they are for my future home theater so tomorrow I will be boxing them back up and hiding them out of the way.
  3. Is that dust I see on that Palladium, I should bring it over to my house and clean them for a while.
  4. I guess I have magical cables and a magical receiver then...lucky me!
  5. Nope, I fell in love with the dark cherry finish and will be keeping them.
  6. What does that have to do with having them for sale before I received them?
  7. And...what is hard to understand about that?
  8. What Lagolas needs if for someone to record a clip of something playing on their RF-7 IIs and then to send their speakers to him so he can listen to the clip on the RF-7s to make a decision.LOL Lagolas I know what you mean, even here in Ohio the closest place I could find with the RF-7IIs that I could demo was hours away and I didn't want to drop that kind of money without hearing them first. Sometimes you just have to go for it, that's what I did.
  9. "Blu-ray players send Dolby TrueHD signals down S/PDIF cables as Dolby Digital, DTS HD MA as DTS and 5.1 PCM as two-track stereo PCM. Some players also have an option to convert everything to DTS." This was taken from here. Author: Lincoln Spector, PC World, Jan. 14, 2011. IMO, Dolby Digital and DTS sound *** good. Is TrueHD better? Technically. Is it necessary? No. I would venture to say your comparison was more of TrueHD and Dolby Digital, than whether the bandwidth was being used. If you looked at your receiver/AVR, did it say Dolby TrueHD when you connected the TOS cable? It should not have. Perhaps it emulates TrueHD, but that bandwidth is not being passed unless there has been a standard change I am not aware of. My receiver displayed Dolby TrueHD both with the optical and the HDMI. I don't know if the signal was compressed in the optic cable and my receiver then decompressed it or what but it definitely played the same thing.
  10. I actually switched back and forth 3 different time one day listening to the same scenes on a few different blurays and could hear no difference at all. I did this because my LG tv has audio video sync issues with the HDMI but not with the optical. I wanted to get rid of the sync issues but did not want to lose audio quality. After several A-B comparisons they were exactly the same to me and my friend who helped out with the experiment.
  11. How do they sound? Oh and by the way, you were right, the B-stock RF-7IIs are georgous! I think Klipsch should pick this up as a new color option permanently.
  12. The sound quality that you get from optical, digital coaxial, and HDMI are exactly the same. HDMI gives you the convenience of only using one cable, but in most cases, the picture quality is better if you run the HDMI directly from your bluray player to your tv and bypass your receiver or pre/pro completely. You also have less av sync issues that way.
  13. If you are going to be running 3D then you definitely want a receiver with HDMI 1.4. As far as the wattage, you never get the actual wattage per channel with all channels driven as advertised. Running all 5 channels you will probably be closer to 35 watts per channel. It is sort of an advertising gimmick but almost every company does it. It will probably be enough to make those speakers sound fine though since they are so efficient. Good luck with your home theater.
  14. Hello Sebastian, I cannot help you with your speaker questions since I have not heard these myself. I can help you with your receiver question though. The Onkyo should be enough to push these speakers as long as you don't want it to play very loud. I do however have a much nicer Onkyo receiver that I am trying to upgrade. It is the Onkyo TX SR-607. It is a 7.2 receiver with 700 total watts of power while the TX-NR509 is 5.1 with 400 watts. This would power your speakers much better and it is only 8 or 9 months old and in perfect condition. I would sell it to you for $225 plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested.
  15. I think you might buy and sell more speakers than I do! My wife thinks that I need to go to Klipsch anonymous meetings.
  16. One of my favorites has to be Swordfish, not so much the whole movie but the 360 degree explosion in the bank is among the best I've heard.
  17. Thanks everybody for all the great info. I knew on paper it would all work, unfortunately I haven't heard anything from the Reference line yet which is why I came here since most everyone seems to have them. I do have to say that I already love Klipsch though. Currently for my living room setup I have four Icon XF-48s for my fronts and rears and the center to match (can't remember the model number right now) and the RT-10D. This is personally the best setup that I've ever heard and I know that the Reference speakers should sound even better. Before I got the Icons I had two Synergy F3s and a pair of F1s for my rears with the C2 center and Sub10. That setup sounded good but left me wanting more. I know that I will be wanting to upgrade to the Rf-7iis and the Rs-52iis eventually but they just aren't in the budget yet.
  18. Hello Klipsch Community, I joined the community a year and a half ago and am just posting my first thread. I am preparing to build my first dedicated home theater and have opted to go with 7.1 due to the shape of the room(17x28x9). After talking to every authorized online dealer I finally made the most economical purchase I could think of. The guys at sounddistributors worked out a great deal for me with (2) RF-82IIs, a RC-64II, (4) RS-42IIs, and the SW-310 for $2500 delivered. I also already have a Klipsch RT-10D subwoofer. My questions are: Will the center be too much for the mains? Will I be happy with the smaller surrounds? To jump up to the RS-52iis would cost a whole heck of a lot more and I thought that I could just turn the levels up higher for the surrounds to make up for size. I chose this configuration mostly based on price for the whole 7.1 set and wanting a great center. At the time that I made the decision I thought I was golden, but now I have some concerns about the overall imaging. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.
  19. Thanks, I'm hoping to someday upgrade to the RF-7iis so I kinda thought it would make since to get the better center now. Who knows how long it will be before I can afford them. Plus every center speaker I have ever had never seemed quite enough and I am always raising the level to match everything else.
