  1. Then the forum software is not written for modern browsers. I also ran this page through the error checker and it found almost 200 errors. Well, I see it's also written with Microsoft software so that explains everything.
  2. I don't know why you are seeing it differently. The page markup, the code, is completely different in both posts. The first should not have any line breaks in it. This last one should. I see the line breaks in the last one but it's one continuous line in the first. It all looks the same in Firefox, Chrome and Opera.
  3. That's about .011 inch too tall. In any case, I moved the receiver into the cabinet and the temperature is only 15F above room temp though I forgot to measure it while it was on and it had been off a few minutes. I'll try again later.
  4. Identical but I'm not on Windows. Did you try what I mentioned above?
  5. I don't see any formatting change. Do you mean the size of the font or the layout of the text? Is it possible you have Firefox or Chrome/Safari zoomed? Hold down the Ctrl key and press 'zero' to see if that fixes it.
  6. After searching around, I'm confused about clearance on the sides of my receiver for cooling. The manufacturer recommends 30cm above the receiver but I haven't been able to find any shelving units that would allow for such a space after doing some quick lookarounds. I'd prefer to use my current TV stand but that would allow only about 1/2 inch clearance on top but plenty of room on the sides. It's not enclosed so it's open air on all the sides. My question, then, is do I need to provide additional cooling, such as with a fan, for such a layout? To repeat, it sits on a glass shelf with 1/2-inch clearance on top but open air on all four sides.
  7. Chrome is a great browser. While some may be concerned with it "phoning home", it uses little bandwidth and should be of no concern, especially for those with broadband. The "phoning home" part is only used to keep it up to date and supply usage data. You never have to upgrade Chrome yourself. Usage data is only for targeting ads based on your usage and debugging. Some yell "privacy invasion" but no data collected has anything personal about you despite anything you may read about. I'm a web developer. All of the browsers are excellent and it's more a matter of personal taste. The only browser you should avoid like the plague, because it is one, is Internet Explorer. For me it's for very serious technical issues alone.
  8. Consumer Reports advises against extended warranties in almost all cases. The reason is you get a warranty for a long enough period of time that will verify the unit works. Electronic components, once they run for a few days, rarely break down soon after that and should run for years. Some extended warranties even start the same day you buy them. iow, if you have a general warranty on a unit for one year, and buy an extended 3-year warranty, it starts the same day, effectively becoming only a 2-year extension. I've not bought any extended warranties in years and never regretted it. I'm sure it's helped some but not most.
