    not to mention the samson amp costs only slightly more than the plate amp. The main reason people go with the pc line is because its a "plug and play". They just like the convinience. Personally I dont mind spending the money time and effort to make it sound better.

    Theres lots of stuff out there, adcom, crown, denon, HK, carver, Krell, Dynaco, NAD, McIntosh, yamaha, lots of pro audio like, Alvex, american DJ, and many more! although after researching for hours trying to find the best deal what I should have done was just listen to SVS in the first place. The samson S series are the best amps for the price. Most of the amps i listed were either too expensive or not enough power for the $300 to $400 price range. The samson was the only solution for me.

    Most of the other people using that sub (that I have seen) have bigger mains.

    Why spend the extra money and then have to turn the volume down because the bass is swallowing your speakers? not to mention arent we talking about a $500 budget here?

    oucchhhh! that would sting a little. My first sub I bought was a sunfire super junior. When I decided to sell that only after having it for less than a month I lost $175. I cant say that I can take that kind of loss again.

    The cs plus looks very appealing, Im going to email TV and see what he can do for me. I know that retailers hate to take back used merchandise, but every time I go to the SVS B stock page, their is never a used sub for sale. I know they wouldnt have a problem reselling it.

    Keep the KG 5.2's and the Academy! That is an awesome combo indeed! I would just get quintets for the rear channels. The bose can always be used for paper weights.cwm2.gif

    I decided to get the S1000 for two reasons. One I got this refurbashed one at a good price. Most of you know that this amp sells for more than $400. Second I thought it would be good to have for future upgrades. SVS has already came out with a step up from the 20-39's. If I decide to sell this sub and buy an ultra, Im already packin heat!cwm32.gif

    No, I will not bridge any amp. Its like a truck pulling two trailers. (not a good thing) I'm not bank rollin like most of you high rollers in here, I need this amp to last. (My wife is ready to do a Lerana Bobbit on me as it is).

    As far as interconnects, what do you mean the rca cables feeding the sub amp? Im using cheap ones now but I'll take suggestions.

    the amp u need to run the SVS will run from the sub out of your current AV receiver. You would plug the rca cable from your sub out into the red portion of your CD input on your sub amp. Then run speaker cables + - from the speaker out of your sub amp to the sub. Its very easy.

    bridging is never recommended. The amp will become more unstable in bridged mode (IMHO).

    Another note, If you decide to go with the 16-46 cs you will need a better amp than you would with the 20-39. It would probably need at least 200w w/at least a 6 ohm rating.

    I think the 16-46 is overkill for the size of your speakers and room, my house is 2000 square feet and every wall shakes..ok, not every wall but you get my point.cwm24.gif

    SACD vs DVD-Audio

    I was listening to DVD audio the other day and i could tell that the highs and lows were defined. The bass is flat very flat and the highs were clean.

    I like it, I like it alot... but wheres the software?....dunno bout the SACD.

    AMIGATHEBEST, listen to me very carefully and if you follow my instructions you will be listening to your bass with a huge grin on your face.

    Order a SVS 20-39cs ($485 shipped) from svsuboofers.com. Then start looking for an older 2 channel receiver. This is what you want:

    find an old receiver that has at least 150 watts per channel. The most important thing you are looking for in the receiver is the ohm rating. Make sure the unit has at least a 6 Ohm rating(peferabally 4 ohms but 6 will do, 8 is no good). Most all of the older ones do. The newer ones with this kind of wattage will just clip on you. You can probably find an old used 2 channel amp at a flea market or in your local paper for under $50.

    Right now im running my SVS 20-39 w an old Pioneer SX-2300 that I bought of my buddy for $30. Its specs are 150w @ 6ohms...

    I CAN SHAKE EVERY PICTURE EVERY WINDOW EVERYONE OF MY WIFES ORNAMENTS IN MY 2000 SQUARE FOOT HOUSE WITH THIS $ 520 COMBO. when watching actions scenes in pearl harbor, every explosion my living room feels like bombs are dropping on top of me.

    Yes the amp does get hot at high volumes but so far so good. I just bought the Samson S1000 off ebay for $289, but the pioneer 150 2 channel amp made me proud.

    So take the advise from someone who has spent countless hours of research reading reviews and swapping amps. This is the way to go if you want bass you can FEEL for the best price possible.

    I just want to add that my Kg 5.2's + my SVS 20-39 w/samson S1000 amp(paid $1150 for the trio) blows away the RF-7's (valued at $2100)

    I just compared them yesterday. Hands down the RF-7's could not match the output. I dont think there is any pair of speakers that could put my trio to shame...nope! not in this life time...

    the RF-7's with the SVS ultras!!!... that would be one monster setup! ;^)

    The 20-39 would give you a deeper more dynamic bass response. Your HT would improve 10 fold and you will be thankful you decided to buy it....trust me you can't go wrong
