  1. This is great Youth. Definitely reconsidering this as an alternative to the Onkyo 5508 or the new 5509. Definitely would save a lot of money. I have always been so concerned about room calibration or room eq. But it sounds like if you are willing to put in some effort, you can save at least 1k as well as possibly receive a much better sounding device?

Congrats on your purchase. I hope it continues to work out for you.

  2. I've got a Integra DHC-9.9 which is great for movies, but I feel could be better for music. I was at a fellow Klipsch forum member's house who had a Denon 4810 with a emotiva xpa-5. I think the Denon's warmer highs complimented the Klipsch horns a little better. I've been looking into the Denon's ever since. I'm not sure if you're planning on using the internal amp or your Emotiva's. The thing that really caught my eye about the 4311 was I just read in the latest home theater mag that you can actually shut off the internal amps of the 4311 when just using it as a processor. I don't know why, but it's always bothered me to use a receiver as a pre and still have the amplifier section still on generating heat. Just my 2 cents. I saw a site selling refurbed 4311's for $1069 with free shipping I believe. I can't remember which site. If interested, I'll try to find it again.

I think it has been confirmed over at AVS forums that it doesn't really shut off the amps.

  3. i just have the pic i posted a page or 2 earlier that you probably saw, i just used a drill and a spade bit 3/4" i beleive and made a few more holes lining up the back of the cabling where the rca's inputs are, alot of cussing was done when i tried putting the amps in the first time but the solution was easy enough, i think i essentially forgot i was going to need about 21 for clearence space

haha....cool..thanks. Yeah, I have been having a hard time finding a reasonable cost A/V stand that also doesn't look cheap at the same time. Thanks for your replies.

  4. Just a thought on the amps as I went back and forth between the XPA-3 and 5. $200 dollars for 400 extra watts. Even if you don't have a use for 5 channels now, systems grow!

I thought Emotiva did not recommend using a partial of the channels on their amps. I could be wrong.

  5. To me, UMC-1 sounds better as preamp and is more versatile as processor compared to older Onkyo i had....

Do you feel this way for movies and music? What if the OP is more for movies than music or the other way around. I wouldn't mind trying it out, but my major concern is the UMC vs Audyssey xt32

  6. If I were buying an AV receiver with pre-outs, I'd buy the Yamaha RX-A3000.
I REALLY like the built web-browser (browser, iPhone, iPad) controllability.
The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did is AirPlay compatibility.

I own the previous generation Yamaha RX-Z7 and Klipsch RF-7's, using the
pre-outs to drive them using a tube amp. I LOVE it!

Do you prefer YPAO over Audyssey XT32 or you don't really care? One of the reasons I have looked elsewhere. Then again, I have a 567 to see if I like the YPAO with my RF-7ii (they are hooked up to my Jamo e660 right now)

  7. Hello Everyone. I recently purchased my RF-7IIs but still need a avr and a sub. I noticed many of you have Yamaha paired with them. Is there a reason why you chose it over an Audyssey avr as it seems to be the popular choice? My new speaker next to my old Jamo e660 (little dusty). Also, you may notice the little scratch on the RF7ii. Yeah, I got them replaced straight from Hope, AR.

Is that the ones they sent you? With the scratch on it?

No, these are the original ones, They replaced those above with a different pair without any scratches (there was one scratch but it was on the bottom, almost underneath the speaker).

  8. Looks like we got hit by a spam bot :(

Anyhow. Finally recieved my new components to complete the setup. Denon & Emotiva Amp/Sub:

Just need to tune it and get everything dialed in.

Did you create some custom speaker cables. It seems you were getting ready to do so on the previous page.

  10. Yep, new Ultra Sub 12 and XPA-3 are on the way from Emotiva. Should be here next week.

are you concerned about the weight of the XPA-3 + whatever else you may have on that glass shelf (if its glass)? I currently have the Z-line Jaguar 3-in-1 stand that I got for $180 from Target and its been doing great. I really like Z-Line. But I have a hard time finding another 3-in-1 stand that is a little wider, and that can support more weight on each shelf without having to shell out $300+ or a DIY stand.

Good question. The top shelf (where the center is) supports 120lbs. Middle and bottom support 65lbs each. The Emotiva at a whopping 57lbs will definitely be going on the bottom shelf with the cable box and media PC. That will be about 71lbs which I feel comfortable with. The middle shelf will have the Denon receiver and PS3 which will be 40lbs. I mapped out dimensions and weight before I went shopping and this was the only TV stand I could find that would fit everything. It will be snug but it should work out.

Very good! Yeah, I think my Z-line supports the same weight. My problem is I have two emotiva amps..and an htpc that's the size of an avr.. I am still missing an avr...which will be 30-55lbs depending what I get.

  12. Don't know how long I have been looking for something that cost less than $400 to hold an RC-64 as well as two emotiva XPA amps and receiver and htpc without having to rest the tv on top of the speaker and without having to wallmount the tv as well. If I could do either of those, then that would be easy but since I am looking for a 3-in-1 tv stand solution, everyone comes with glass shelves rated at 50lbs or less.

  13. I have a couple of questions on this buy out. First of all why is there a nonbinding agreement signed? Are both companies waiting to see what kind of "uprising" this will cause among the Klipsch customers/fans? Is there a chance if this does go through that there will still be great speakers that stay true to the Klipsch sound? Lastly I just bought RF-82II's right before this news came out and I bought a RC-64II center with the thought of upgrading to RF-7II's in the future. Is the time to upgrade now?

Wow, you will pretty much have the same setup as me (and also have the same question as me).
