  1. My front left speaker stopped playing back sound. I swapped the cables and the speaker and the problem is not with the speaker (it works fine on the front right) nor with the cable (if I swap positions so the cable goes to the front right output port the speaker and cable work fine). So it seems that the spring clip output that the cables for the front left speaker plug into (in the sub/amp) is not sending out any signal. Is there any way I can repair that or is this is a common problem? Perhaps I can redo one of the connections inside the subwoofer/amp assembly? Thanks!
  2. Nevermind, I feel like a fool. I decided to go back and check things one last time and realized that when I upgraded my SB Live drivers it for some reason set my recording input to feed from the CD Audio channel... Anyway, sorry to clutter the BB, maybe an admin can just delete the thread.
  3. I searched the boards and didn't see anything that seemed to answer my question, although I did see many topics about hissing. Anyway, the hissing comes from the front and rear left Promedia 4.1 speakers. Now when I go into volume control and mute the CD Audio the hiss stops Anyway I'm not sure where to start working to trace this thing down. I have SB Live 5.1 Plat, running Windows 2000. I just noticed it a few days ago, and I'm sure it wasn't hapening before that.
  4. With the wires, did you still use those 1/8 jacks in the back, or did you have to physically modify the speakers?
  5. I've been reading over the forums some, as I just got my speakers Friday of last week and have been seeing many people suggesting things to improve the sounds, addings weights, using plywood, replacing the speaker cables, etc.. Anyway is there someplace I can go that has a complete list of all these potential improvements? Also, can someone elaborate on the speaker wire replacement, as I am concerned with how thin it is. To replace the wire, what all must be done, can new wire still use the same sized plugs that go into the back of the satelite speakers? And since the 5.1's literally were announced the day I got my speakers (the link to the site about them anyway) did I get screwed as far as I should have waited and spent the extra $$ for 5.1?
  6. Personally I haven't been able to turn mine much past 5 or 10% for fear of bothering the people around me in this dorm... and they are pleanty loud there as well!
  7. I've used both the Platinum's 5.1 and the other, and have had those exact problems. You have to check those speaker connects in the back, also the SB Live manuel can be a bit misleading with it's diagram.
  8. I have the same problem, only not as pronounced yet. Currently my front left speaker wire is the issue (traded speakers, same thing). I checked the wire connections, but they don't fit it everytime... it is most annoying for something I spent near $300 on... They are not yet even a week old.
