Though I am not famliar with your specific speaker wire, and cannot explain how to cut and splice it back together, there are three important factors to consider.
1: Always keep the length of your speaker wire the same length. This is important because it does take longer (milliseconds) for an electrical signal to travel a longer route. Thus you always want each speaker to receieve its infomation at the same time.
2: Avoid excessive cable length. The longer you make a run, the less efficient the system becomes. Simply put, it takes more energy to push signals over a longer distance. You want to always use the minimum amount of length. (Its fine to have slack, just not a ton of excess)
3: Gauge. While some in my opinion go overboard on this subject, avoid using too skinny of wire. Basically, again you don't want to imped the signals by forcing it through too small of wire. I run 12 gauge monster for my mains.
Hope that helps some of your concerns.
