  1. Thanks, that's what I am thinking. The room is not ideal also the walls are made of 3" thick plaster over wood slats, I have to use concrete screws to hang art, mix with the wood floor, domed ceiling not ideal in any way.
  2. Thanks for the responses guys, really appreciate it!! I played around a little and it sounds a LOT better, thanks!! I think the rest will be a little fine tuning to taste. I do have another question, my mids are kind of flat. I was wondering what this could be, I'm in a 25' long X 17' wide room with domed ceiling and hard hood floors. Could this be the acoustics of the room and or maybe too many big speakers in a small space. Maybe the Lexicon?, it dose not have a lot of room calibration options, like EQ. My movie play black is a little forward but sounds great but still too forward, my 2 channel playback is lacking bad in the mids. The drums and symbols in rock are really flat. I have all my CF-3s Bi-amped nicley, I have just noticed they preform much better with Bi-amping.
  3. 1-I'm not sure what my crossover settings should be in my Processor, at the moment everything is set to full but my processor will go from 20-120hz in 10hz. Stats on my Speakers- http://www.klipsch.com/cf-2 http://www.klipsch.com/cf-3 http://www.klipsch.com/rsw-15-subwoofer http://www.klipsch.com/rsw-12-subwoofer 2-I'm getting a slight hum from all my speakers hooked into my 2nd amp which is a Parasound 1205a when no sound is playing, but my first amp a Parasound 3500 is silent. The 3500 is hooked through XLR and the 1205a RCA. My set up is the following. Pre amp- Lexicon MC-12 Processor Amps- Parasound 3500 X1, Parasound 1205A X2 Front Stag-Klipsch CF-3 Version 1 X3, Klipsch Rsw-15 Rear Stage-Klipsch CF-2 X4, Klipsch RSW-12 Thank you any help would be appreciated!
  4. I have a couple of basic questions. When running an optical cable from your Bluray player to a reciever are you getting the same signal or is it being down converted? You can only only get Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD through a HDM connection correct? I ask because my older receiver pre new codec plays them back through an Optical cable. Also I have heard of people saying you can play the new codec through older Preamp/Processors via the 5.1 analog setup or with modifications? Is this correct?
  5. I'm a little late. @youthman: Yes raising them changes the sound a bit but it seems to work better for movies, I still need another amp to key the version 2s in correctly. @Rivernuggets: I'm not really a Deftones fan, they where one of the better bands of late 1990s rock though. I was a teen in the 90s/2000s but always listen to stuff from the 70s/80s started off on Bowie and Pink Floyd. I am more of a Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, Skinny Puppy, 4AD Records fan. I listen to old Punk and Gothic music pretty close to equally.
  6. My Budget Klipsch base Home Theater system. A project that started after a friend gave me his old flagship Pioneer Elite VSX-49TX. I bought everything from various sources but nothing was more than $300 minus the TV, Front Stage with free ugly goth kid Panasonic 54" G20 Reciver-Pioneer Elite VSX-49TX Fronts- Klipsch CF-3 (second gen) Center- Klipsch KV-4 Sub- Klipsch RSW-15 Front Stage without the ugly goth kid Rear Surround Side-Klipsch CF-1 Surround Rears-Klipsch SS1 Sub- Klipsch RSW-10
  7. Thanks for the input, for electronics point of view I was a little off that 15 year caps would go bad. I know electrical fairly well (I rewired 1/2 of my apartment). I'm gonna try a new setup, I am not the biggest Pioneer fan to begin with and even though this is a flagship Elite. I was looking at Parasound dose anyone have any suggestions?
  8. Are the KLFs a little easier to deal with than the Epics? I havn't heard them in person just heard them just seen people really liike them. I'm open for getting to speakers but if the Epics are better with a little more work I will keep at it.
  9. Thanks everyone, For Music I have been using Pink Floyd The Wall as reference for music and Scott Pilgrim VS the World as Movie reference. I might just want to have a listen to some KLFs and see if I like them. I have a Denon 2900, I played some music off that and the CD actully sounds a little better to me at least. Everything sounds great off my Blurays played through my PS3, I'm really shocked how good games sound. I played Siren and the rain sounds real. I talked to Bob about getting to the crossovers redone but it was $250 dollars to get them done, he explained that the Crossovers in the Epics are more complex that in most Klipsch speakers. I would be more than happy to pay the other $100-150 prices I saw on his website but $250 is about what I paid for the speakers. How dose a Crossover go bad??????
  10. I will give the Marantz a try and see if things sound a little better, my kimber cables are Tonik. Not sure if a PBJ is lesser or more. I have read from other Epic cf-3/cf-4 owners that the Passive bi-amping is nessary due to change made in the version 2, all I know is that my CF-1s I use for rears sound great even when hooked up as fronts. I admit it all sounds a little flat, dose it matter when using an optical cable with your CD player??
  11. I'm running Audio Quest Type 4 Speaker cable, just cheap optical cable for anything digital and an old pair of Kimber cables for the AV on the CD I am using which is an old Denon DCD-156. I notice a big difference between using the AV cables and setting the Receiver to Direct in stereo mode instead of letting the receiver process the music through analog or optical. I would assume the DAs in the CD player are better than in the receiver. I have no bones about ditching this Pioneer and going with something different for a proper setup. Any recommendation in used amps and pre-amps in a $900-1400 range .
  12. Thanks you the input I will get a Separate amp for my Pioneer, use the Pre-amp outs and try the passive bi-amping. I have been thinking about ditching my ARV already for a real set up anyways. It is a nice a AVR though 130 Watts X 7 Channels with opinional active Bi-amping if wanted, and a whopping 80 pounds. It was for sure the flagship when it came out. Rocks Surround Sound very well but leave things to be desisred for music. Would you recommend Carver, Parasound, or Rotel?
  13. I have a Pair of Epic CF-3 Version 2's I'm Running on a Pioneer Elite VSX-49TX with AudioQuest Type 4 Speaker Cable. I like the Warmth of these speakers and there Imaging but they sound rather muddy to me in the mids. I have heard that Passively Biamping these to level out the horn helps to balance these speakers dose anyone have any experience with this? I'm just not sure if it is the speaker or the setup. I was Original going to buy a pair of KLF20s or KLF30s, but found the CF-3s for a deal so I am trying them out. I do have a surround sound set but music comes first for me. Any one with opinions? Also I am not too happy with this Pioneer it doesn't seem very musically to me, I expected more form a receiver that cost $4500 new. Would a different setup help? I'm just not sure if there was something I was doing Wrong or if the Crossovers might need replacing, or the setup is poor, or a level adjusted in Biamping is needed (which I have read about for the Epics).
  14. As far as the KG line I wasn't that impressed with the KG 5.2s I owned I didn't really like them no matter what I hooked them up too. They where clean sounding but lacked for me. But I have a pair of KG-2.5 for my Computer and I love those.
  15. I have heard so many good things about the Cornwalls, maybe I will pick up a pair down the road. I picked up my Epic CF3 (found out they are version 2s) fairly cheap for $250. So I started down the Epic path and pickup a pair of CF-1s cheap as well for my rear. Then RV-4 for the center (on its way right now) and a RSW-15 as Sub. Music sounds pretty good, these epic speakers are picky about everything placement, amp used, wiring you name it these speakers ***** about it. As far as surround I like this set even more. Although I feel the RSW-15 works better for Music than Movies. What is a Fair price for Cornwalls???
