  1. I've had the 880 remote for about 3 years and the charging station did stop charging for me.

All I did was buy a wall charger and an extra battery on ebay for $20 and haven't had a problem since.

The LCD screen is showing it's age as it's not as clear and bright as it was, when new.

Other then that, it has been a great unit and haven't run across any electronics that it couldn't control (except the already mentioned Ps3)

  2. I was in the same boat as you and I've just pulled the trigger on an Onkyo 607. Delivery Date of 9/29.

There were some concessions (No pre-outs for the fronts, etc) but with my budget there was no way around it. Buying used wasn't an option.

Never been a big fan of Onkyo, but the newer models have been getting good press so I took a flier. The price was right and the need was there to replace my 9 yr old Denon 3801.

I've been nothing but a Denon owner in regards to A/V receivers so I have my fingers crossed that all will be good. (a little..ok..a lot of buyer's remorse going on right know.)

If time permits, I'll report back with my thoughts/concerns on the 607.

    Thanks

  3. There are very few movies that actually can fool me to the point that it makes me look up or around or whatever the effect the scene in the movie is trying to portray. It's these subtle things that get my attention..Most movie makers have perfected the art of recreating rain, thunder, and explosions and it all seems the same to me. It's cool, but not very realistic, IMO.

Master and Commander's reproduction of people walking around the deck is an excellent example

The movie Signs also has a scene with the same effect. It's the part where the aliens are trying to find a way into the farm house. This one gives me the chills every time.

The depth charge scenes in U571 is a must for any HT demo. It's the sound of the detonators going off just before the explosion that makes the scenes complete.

Somebody already made mention to Roger's setup in an earlier post. The way he has finely tuned his delays, you can't help but look back when planes fly over or duck when bullets go whizzing by your head.

  4. After reading the review , they couldn't stop mentioning the location of the binding posts..They certainly didn't like it and I have always wondered as well what the reasoning was to put the binding posts on the bottom of the speaker. Esp. on a heavy speaker like the P-39.

As Dwilawyer pointed out, I went directly to the Manufacturer's Response section after reading the review and was stunned not to see a response from Klipsch. I'm glad I waited to post the oversight, for Amy has already informed us that they did indeed sent in a response.

Other than that, I surely need to take a Chart Reading 101 class so I can somewhat understand what they are talking about for we all know the proof is in the numbers, right??!!?? [;)]

    Thanks

  5. Great write-up(s), guys!!!

Though not the same as being there in person, I did find some of Tchaikovsky's 5th and 6th in my old vinyl archives and played them on Saturday night.

I sure would like to hear some Classical music on a finely tuned TT system. Mine set-up is amateurish (by design..new to the game) and though I have had the pleasure to demo a few nice set-ups..The music of choice has been ...Random Horn Blowin Music. Which isn't my cup of tea.

Larry: Michael mentioned that you have a record cleaning machine...What model do you have?

Thanks again guys for sharing your adventures!!

P.S. Larry: I got your email and I'll reply to you later this evening

  6. Hi:

Anyone here have any experience(s) with wireless outdoor speakers.

A person at my work asked me about them and since I have no clue, I figured someone here would have some advice and or recommendations.

I tried to steer them in this direction but to no avail. (Not Wireless)[:(]

The maximum distance should be around 100-150 feet.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

  7. Hi All:

Due to some scheduling conflicts, I will be unable to attend this years Klipschfest.

I'm really bummed as I hate to miss an opportunity to gather with the forum friends I have met over the years. I will also miss the chance to meet Marty (Thebes) and Gary (GaryMD) who have been on the forums about as long as I have.

Thank you Larry for being the Entertainment Director for we all no is not an easy task.

Also, thank you to all the people who are opening up their homes for this event.

  8. Still wish I had kept the Cornwalls but I admit the Belles are beginning to grow on me. I'm going to pick up an RSW-12 to help out the bottom end but it's really the mid-bass that has that thin, hollow sound I've heard so many folks complain about, even with Khorns. Upgraded crossovers took care of that issue with my Khorns but I didn't get the same results with the Belles.

    Hi Gary:

It took about 4 years for the Belles to grow on me but a lot that had to do with not spending much time with them. The K-Horns got the lion share of my attention as well as the Cornwalls.

It wasn't until this past December that I made it a point to give the Belles a fair shake. Now that I have spent more time with them, I've warmed up to them but they still won't supplant (not even close) the K-Horns and Cornwalls as my primary two channel listening rig. I haven't tried adding a sub into the mix, so maybe I'll explore that option in the near future.

The 2-Channel Belle ('87 Oak with Bob's A/AA's, 10 feet a part, listening positions is about 6.5 feet) set-up is as follows:

-ST-70 point to point wired (Thanks to Craig's handiwork. Craig will be able to explain better what he did but it was a joint experiment to see if it was a worthwhile/economical mod for ST-70.)

-JM-BB with all the ala cart add-ons

    -MusicHall 2.1 TT

Cheap DVD player for CD duty.

  9. I've never been much of a gamer.

Yesterday I finally got my PS3 configured and setup for games. The only one I have I bought for Xmas with the PS3, "Formula One Championship Edition".

    I'm addicted. Party!!!Tongue Tied

After I got the DualShock controller properly configured so the steering wasn't so sensitive and twitchy, that was it. What a great way to get wasted and waste hours of time.

Folks, if, you're going to drink and drive - this is the way to do it!!! LOL

But seriously, this thing is so cool. I sure hope they come out with a 1080p version of this. In the meantime I think I'm going to pickup Gran Turismo Prologue 5 or GRID. I believe these are 1080p. (?)

Any recommendations or comments on what's good/what's not? I don't need anything that is going to take a lot of time to start having fun. Sci-Fi stuff would be cool too.

Same thing happened to me as well, Artto.

I'm a die hard PC gamer and only bought the PS3 for blu-ray and net capabilities..That was until I bought Call of Duty 3 (Yes, I'm behind the times) and Extreme bowling. I'm hooked...but only to games that mainly require the use of the right side of the controller. My brain and left hand just can't seem to work the other side of the controller.

    Have fun!!!!
