    Rocky II

    Aliens

  2. Iron Man 3, new Star Trek, and Man of Steel for sure.

Fast and Furious 6 is a guilty pleasure I will see. Just saw the preview for Kick *** 2 and I really liked the first one.

I want World War Z to be good but I'm skeptical.

  3. I'm going with 4,5,1,2,3,6...I saw that suggested on anther forum and like the idea of ending with the true wrap up of the Saga, but maintaining the surprises from Empire.

As for audio and picture quality, I've watched 4,5,1 and I have to agree with ref head. The picture on ANH was miles better that I've seen it before, but overall just average picture and sound. Empire looked amazing and the sound was good too. Ep. 1 was great. The sound during Duel of the Fates was amazing. I can't wait to get to the ROTS, I've heard and read nothing but good things.

Definately worth the $80 to have these on blu ray, even with the changes. If they only had an option that would scrub Jar Jar from Ep. 1....

  4. Sounds like the DVR hardware... Good luck working your way through the maze of Directv recorded voices before you talk to a "real" person.

I just start yelling and swearing at the recording and usually get to someone...actually for technical issues its usually a little easier.

  5. kde,

I had that happen with mine a few years back. It got progressively worse. I called Dtv and they walked me through a few fix attempts. It turned out for me that the hard drive was shot, I needed a new receiver. They sent me a free one, just had to pay shipping, which was $20 I think. The bad part was losing all the movies and stuff I had recorded. Good luck.

  6. Thats just a CA law. Proposition 65. I manage a retail store in Colorado and have contact with some CA retailers and its a real drag for companies. They are forced to put that warning on products that contain even trace amounts of any 1 of over 850 chemicals. Stores in CA can be sued by citizens if products are not labled with the warning. Most companies selling in CA now just put it on automatically because it is next to impossible to prove that your product does not contain at least one of these chemicals.

  7. I use it too. I wish more of the new movies they release would be in HD. I don't watch movies that I excited to see on there, I save those for Blu Ray. I like it for stuff like stand-up and some of the old 80's movies. Its a cool service though and I imagine it will only get better. If you have kids, its great for them too.

  8. Do the subs fit under the screen? If you move the mains out a bit and toe them in and then put the subs between them and the center, that might look pretty bada$$. Good looking set up either way, and nice to see the beer fridge down there too.

  9. I have Master and Commander on standard DVD, and thought the sound was good, but never blew me away. Since I saw all the glowing reviews on here, I got the blu ray from Netflix and watched last night. Holy cow, what a difference. I felt like I was on the ship, it was very cool. I think I'm ruined for standard dvd for any action type movie.

  10. Welcome to the forums gb15. I don't have all kinds of experience in these matters but I do have the RC62II. It's a great center speaker. Dialogue is crisp at any volume level. I have not heard much good about the 52, seems like it struggles to keep up, especially at lower levels. If you are going to be upgrading your fronts down the road, what are you thinking about there? If you are going bigger than the RF52's then the RC52 will lag behind.

    Good luck.

  11. I've fallen back in love with my CD collection since getting my speakers a couple months ago. It makes me excited to get an amp and a new sub too.

On Sunday I was in a lazy mood and just sat in my recliner with a few beers and cranked up the music

    Pink Floyd- The Wall

    Seal's first Album

    NIN- Downward Spiral

Someone could have broken in and taken half the stuff upstairs and I wouldn't have even noticed.

  12. With my H/K receiver on bluray, it just selects 'multi channel pcm', I don't have option for anything else. The AVR decodes trueHD and DTShd, so can I assume that these formats are being used.

That's the ways mine is setup since my PS3 will not bitstream the data to the AVR and let the AVR decode it in DTS-Master and Dolby TrueHD. So my AVR never says those but are being decoded as such.

I do not have a THX option either.

Thanks Youthman, thats what I thought, but nice to hear it from someone else with the same situation.
  13. I read somewhere (probably in these forums) that the pre 1990's cd's aren't as compressed and sound better than the newer stuff. I dusted off some older disc last weekend. Listened to the Pink Floyd- The Wall. Very good from start to finish. Lots of L/R jumping around and soft and loud contrast. 'One' by Metallica was great. The bass drum just pounded me in the chest. The U2 Live at the Rose Bowl bluray sounds great in 5.1.

I've searched the manual and can't see a way to specifically select the other modes. For music I go back and forth between 2ch and 5ch stereo.
