  1. Soundbar technology has come a long way these past couple years.

I was in BB the other day and listened to the BOSE 700 soundbar and matching 700 bass module. I was totally surprised by the sound this simple and clean looking system put out.

My friends all have these huge and beautiful homes and nearly all of them have Sonos soundbars. As much as I hate to admit it, they all sound very good especially when the subwoofer is turned on.

I could unload all my gear, buy a soundbar and pocket a couple thousand but I just can’t give up my passion for buying and testing new gear. I actually like trying gear out more than I like using it, so I am a bit of a weirdo..

  2. What exactly is your system missing? If I were in your shoes, I’d likely upgrade the center to a 504C. I think that would make the single biggest sound improvement on a budget. Upgrade the towers to the matching towers down the road, as budget allows.

  3. It sounds like you own the RF-62’s or RF-25’s. If that’s the case, I don’t think it would be worth the expense of upgrading to RP-6000’s.

If you have the entry “Reference” towers, it would be worth the upgrade.

Give us some more info about your system and room size and the fine people here will tell you how to spend your hard earned money in the right places.

  4. I am always swapping out my gear. I have some THX Ultras in storage, that aren’t going anywhere until I get a dedicated room for them.

I am just renting a small place at the moment so when HT amps and speakers I’ve wanted to try, pop up at the right price, it doesn’t take me long to take the plunge.

Trying “new” subwoofers are also a dirty pleasure of mine. I’ve probably owned 30 or so the past 4 years. Haha!

  5. I am getting tired of Hollywood putting their agendas ahead of storylines.

I am a huge Star Wars fan but I will not be spending any of my money on this one. The only way I can send a message to these large studios/Hollywood, is to stop financially supporting their products, until they start putting the fans first again.

I still have hope for the franchise but I think it needs some new blood needs to be brought in.

With all if that said, I am going to see the Joker a second time this coming weekend and I will definitely be buying the 4k disc, when it comes out. Hollywood can still make great movies like this one so all hope isn’t lost.

  6. I traded my 7001sc’s and StudioMonitor 350’s for a pair of Mythos ST’s and a Mythos Eight. I also lucked out and found a pair Mythos Gem XL’s with matching stands for cheap. Now the fun begins, getting it all dialed in.

I have owned the ST towers and I still have a single, which will be used as a matching center.

The cool thing is that I traded the 7001sc’s to a guy that is a large Klipsch fan so we chatted for a while. He sent me a message earlier today saying that he is totally loving the new speakers.

I told him to sigh up here, so we might be adding a great addition to this community.

I love it when a plan comes together!

  7. Sounds like you are doing the same thing many of us here have done/still do, talking yourself into buying an amp.

I have owned the 64 II and 450C and I definitely didn’t notice a “night and day difference” between the two. The other thing to consider is that the Denon 4500 is a pretty solid receiver and towards the upper end of the lineup. I don’t think you need an amp in that room but YOU will have to be the one to decide.

I have owned about 10 different, quality, 5 channel amplifiers over the years and there has been times where adding a amp made a big difference and other times where I couldn’t tell any noticeable difference at all. The room and the volume you listen will make all the difference.

Klipsch speakers are very efficient and that Denon receiver is a powerhouse, which is a great combo. With all if that said, adding 5 channels is 200 watt RMS has never never hurt anyone.

If I were in your shoes, I’d just sell the R115SW add a matching SPL-150. That might not even make a big difference though as the R115SW is no slouch.

That is some great gear, BTW!

  8. I snagged a table that might end up replacing my beloved custom TV stand that has been in my setup, much longer than any of the other pieces made it.

Still not not sure if I will make the change or not but that shelf under the top fits a RC-64..

  9. Not sure how accurate these DB meters are either..

I have been trying out some DT BP7001 SC towers for a few weeks now and they are totally being underutilized.

Below is a screen shot of the DB meter, watching Shazam. At 88 DB, I wanted to run out of the room and my remotes were vibrating on my glass coffee table. Hearing some of you folks hitting 100 + DB is nuts;)

  10. I don’t have any experience with either models but I have quite a bit of experience with both sub brands.

I’d go REL all day. Build and sound quality is much higher with the REL.

Klipsch does make great subwoofers but the past two Reference subs I have owned, left much to be desired. They do thump away but I miss the build quality of the RT/RSW lines.

I am still hoping for a 15” sub with a build quality in line with the RF-7 iii.

  11. I mostly gave up on soda about 10 years ago. I say mostly as I will have a soda about 1 - 2 times a month, if the mood strikes me.

I now just drink coffee, tons of water and a nice IPA or 5, every now and then.

  12. Grabbed a couple new pieces for my cabinet! Any Code 3 fans out there?

I know Code 3 no longer has Star Wars rights but that is a real shame, these things are beautiful!af1868832e741ae55c346268212ad0f8.jpg856ed3f235432163beffe5384be652fa.jpg
