  1. Any one try Rhapsody? I have it and really like it.
  2. Well, you still can buy them and at that price you should have no trouble re selling them after you play with them if you needed to!! I will kick myself after they leave because the chance of me finding another pair close will be slim to none!! But its the right thing to do when your looking at spending $9-10,000.00 on a lawn mower!!
  3. Ohio, about 25 miles from toledo and 1.5 hours from detroit, 3 hours from clevland and about 4 from chicago. Nothing really close!!
  4. I am sure it is location....I am close to aahhhh nothing!!!
  5. So spring is coming and I need to purchase a new mower. I have 5 acres so the average mowers do not do the job very fast let alone hold up and commercial mowers are not cheap!! I will take $550 cash money for these speakers. No they are not perfect but I have to say they are worth every penny!! I also have a parasound HCA-1500A for sale,I would need $375 for it its not perfect either....has a few scratches and one corner has a pretty good nick but it works great and really sounds great with every pair of speakers I have tried it with. I struggle to sell either one of these items now as everything just got settled in and have the HT sounding very good with the help of this amp, but hey, I can do with out and next fall get back into the audio hobby. These prices are pretty firm unless someone would buy both and pick them up!! I will get pics as soon as I switch everything around again!!
  6. I almost feel like I will never be happy totaly.... I enjoy the hunt and doing research of various items. I do LOVE the looks of the tubes and picture a nice old school looking tube amp sitting on each one of my 2 channel speakers, whatever that flavor of the month may be!! would like to upgrade my sub as well as my processor for home theater. I dont know what is it but feel the HT could be much better, but thats another topic in another place!!
  7. Funny how that works!! I have been eye balling this but still seem to be scared to try one....seems every time I buy something I always end up wanting the bigger heavier one.....guess thats just the way I am wired http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAQIN-MC-10L-Vacuum-Tube-Integrated-Amplifier-Hi-End-/251461196592?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item3a8c415b30 You are not alone, I was exactly the same way, never could leave well enough alone on any of my hobbies. Always looking for the next step up. You learn alot that way, But you loose something as well That's why I am forcing myself to stay with what I have, I just want to enjoy music again You hit the nail on the head. I am happy with what I have, but I might be missing something with the tubes!! I think I want to try a tube pre first, just for 2 ch, but that would be another story!!

  9. I hear ya, I was amazed at the sound of the parasounds, I think the highs where crystal clear and less grainy so to speak off my yamaha but on the other hand the yamaha was way to bright and overpowering the woofers no matter where I set the treble or subwoofer. In the back of my mind I was thinking of a B&K to try as I have read they are real warm and smooth. Time will tell!!
  10. Well after much thought I have decided to sell my Parasound HCA-1500 to help finance the tube purchase, or maybe another brand SS to try out, depending on what I find. I will get some pictures and list on here as soon as I can which may be a couple of days. There is still much to learn about the tube amps and I will keep looking for one that looks like it will fit the bill, but will also continue looking for maybe a B&K or another SS that sounds "tube like"!! Thanks to everyone for the great input, I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
  11. Dean, your thread about the little amp you tested is the reason I am hell bent on tring one of these tube amps....The thing is I want to buy ONE and not have to go through 3 or 4 before I find one that suits me. I have just "upgraded" to parasound amps on the whole system and noticed a HUGE gain in low frequencies but at the same time has the high end a little on the grainy sounding side compared to my yamaha receiver....not as smooth. So, in a nutshell, I am after the perfect amp that I can have the best of everything and be able to tailor it to my taste!! But that sounds too easy!!
  12. I see these on the net, would be a fairly cheap way to play with one, but I love the looks of the open design where the tubes will glow, and it would be one heck of a conversation piece for sure around here. Most of my friends just have a beater garage sale setup, I am the only one in my group of friends that is into this stuff and I am hoping to change that!!
  13. They dont look to bad, but then again im not very up to date with any of these!! the yaqin line is what I am drawn toward
  14. West of toledo Ohio I would just hate to spend the cash and end up not gaining much!! I love this hobby, but often wonder how my wife puts up with it!! Maybe I will start looking for used.
  15. Great info, but still dont know what to look for!! Budget? hmmm, I really dont know but would like to find used so if it dont work out I can resell and get most my money back. It would be worth $50 to just try one for awhile and get to know what you tube guys talk about. The little parasound HCA750 I have sounds very good and is plenty powerful. I think I like it better then the HCA 1500. I feel the need to at least try a tube amp and dont know what set means or how to dial them in, or what to expect! I dont want to buy without having done some homework!!
  16. Kicking it around, but figured I neeed to ask because I know nothing about them. Been looking around and it seems yaqin and dared seem to be decent for the money. I dont know what models to look at. I want something versital that will drive the rf7, forte chorus or whatever I may have!! Also for use in 2ch or to try out with HT. I would love to go and have a listen, but noone sells them close to me. Mcintosh dealer and thats about it. I listen to a variety of music and at a lot of volume at times so needs to be powerful enough to make me feel it as well!! I have read that 30 watts from a tube amp is like 90 SS? What do I look for and what to stay away from?
  17. I have started looking for another sigle rf7. I have seen them in the past.....now i cant find one!!
  18. Tossed that around as well, but would like the KLF or heritage for 2ch.
  19. Just thinking about where i can move these babys and wondered how they would do as side surrounds? I know they are not a match, but might just work if I moved a few things around. Any input on placement....i guess it would be easy enough to run wire to them real quick and test. just worried about the horn being right there at ear level 2 feet behind, in my room, they would need to be placed real close to the rear of the couch. I will say I had a pair of 82's on the side for a short time and thinking back it sounded really good, even 7 channel with music. Also, have been kicking around the idea of a single rf7 as a center if I could ever find one.
  20. Still searching!!! Anyone semi local have anything?
  21. After talking with a few of you on here, I am thinking I should have used it myself.... oh well. Its on its way to WV!!
  22. Thats my luck as well.....I'm in the same boat!! I did sell the x over.....thanks
  23. Are you guys really going to make me turn to ebay? The price is reasonable, but ill go to $110 with all the bullcrap fees and priority mail, or however you would like it to ship, Im figuring $6 for shipping.
