  1. Price is $70.00 per pair plus $7.00 for shipping. IN STOCK, NEW SHIPMENT ARRIVED TODAY 8/12/2013

I'm curious to see if anyone has installed them and noticed a big difference. Nothing wrong with mine at the moment, and I am content to leave them alone as long as I'm not leaving a ton of performance on the table.

Last summer I first replaced my Quartets stock tweeter diaphragms with Crites Ti's. Listened for a couple weeks and loved them. Then went with Crites mid diaphragms and A-B them and noticed a nice improvement. Listened for a couple weeks again, then installed new Crites crossovers. A-B'd them against stock and it everything opened up and filled in nicely (if that makes sense?..lol). They did take a little to get used to as it does change the sound slightly. They are keepers and just keep getting better after 6 months. Sorry if this is disjointed as I'm on my phone with power down here in Toronto with ice storm.

For 80 dollars it's a no brainer if you can afford it and plan on keeping them!.

    hope that helps

  2. Hey duder right on !...can you post bigger size pics? They are too small to see any detail. We are running the same amp (yours is prettier with the glass!). The heresies will sound fantastic with it as are my upgraded quartets!

    congrats.

  3. very nice work!!!

personally, I dnt think we see enough consoles any more.

I'll get it restored eventually , but putting the Marantz and the rb61's in there sounds fantastic. I just turn on the Normande when I showed some friends so it looks like it's playing with the Marantz tucked away underneath....lol

The teak looks wonderful and is a solid unit

  4. Very nice Joker, I think I remember the thread you posted when you picked this up. Did you clean and relube yourself or send it out to someone, which ever it looks nice. I watched a video how these things can work, seems to be very precise like a robot. I just sent my 1019 out to fixmydual.com last week, should see it back in a week or so. I to am building a new plinth/base for mine as it will go in my Bozak cabinet. I was going to buy the same Shure cart you did, but when I talked to Bill at fix my dual. I decided on a Shure V15 mark 2 as he stated that the weight of that vs others would have better results. Congrats again nice looking system. I have a Shure V15 mark 3 on my Thorens TD-166 mk2 and it sounds very nice. I can't wait to compare these 2 tables.

Thanks duder! I did clean it to the best of my limited ability , but brought it in to a qualified guy close to me to relubed everything necessary. He had to realign the idler wheel slightly as it wasn't keeping speed consistently. Everything runs beautifully now :)

I won't see my friend who built plinth till after new years, but I doubt he documented anything doing it. It is beautiful and heavy (approx 25 lbs). If you wanna see a shot of undercarriage let me kow and I'll snap a few.

I have extra carrier so I just picked up the m97xe from guy who refurbished it. I have the original on it now it's an Empire 150 and tracks great it seems. I also have a Stanton 500mkii that needs new stylus, so doing homework on suitable match for that as well.

Good luck with yours! I love this one and fits right into the old school look I was going for.

  5. Luv the plinth aj2, that was my first table B) Had a little electronic repair shop put a 5 pin DIN on it to go into my Grundig shortwave head unit :)

My 2nd table after a Kyrocera p701 that sounds wonderful as well. I'm struggling to let it go now and will probably hold onto it.

These are great units. I have two that are in need of a good going over.

I can remember when my dad first bought one and the salesman demonstrated the unit by holding the turntable almost on its side and it could still play a record.

What carts do you have on them? I have an extra carrier and just bought a Shure M97xE for spare and using the old Empire 150 and it sound fantastic. I have an extra Ortofon om 20 as well.

I saw that in the manual where you can tilt this TT but with the new plinth around 25 lbs I'll pass on that test lol

  6. I couldn't find my old thread since the site switchover,

In July I was walking home and stumbled across a local estate sale going on and scored a walnut veneered custom console that had a Marantz 2225 and Dual 1019 TT with an Empire 150 Cart with stylus with plenty of life left that was sitting idle for over 20 years. I bought it for 40 or 60 dollars (can't remember) and carried it home 2 city blocks. I dismantled it as my woodworking friend said it was too done in to restore.

I cleaned and deoxit the Marantz and is now working beautifully in the bedroom where I placed it in a 1969 Teak Normande console (that works but needs a little work done) and I replaced the original drivers with rb61's (that i bought cheap with rough cabinets) they slid in place almost perfectly. The Dual 1010 works but needs to be relubed.

Anyway, I took the 1019 base template from the original console to my woodworking buddy and he was excited to put together a new walnut plinth for the 1019. While he worked on it I had the 1019 refurbished and cleaned it up. Here is some pics of the 1019 in it's new home!

Total cost of the 1019 about 100$ for wood supplies and TT (free labour ;) )

    Just thought I'd share

Forgot to include that the Normande console (which I paid 140.00 for) had this Telefunken Reel to Reel in it which I think I'm going to test out on my 2 channel set up at some point, but I have no knowledge of R2R, but does work.

  7. Jeeze! Is that really a 62? Those bookshelves dwarf that thing?

Get out of my head! I had to really look at that! Those bookshelfs look massive!

I'm running rf-81's with rc-64 and dont miss my rf towers at all !.....They are like mini towers and match up and sound fantastic with the 64 as I'm sure they would with the rc-62 which I owned before.

    GLWS

  8. Wow, Bill is the packing master! I've been talking with Bill through PM and he suggested I try this amp on my RF-7 II's, and I will do just that.

I was thinking the same thing seeing your RF-7ii's in your profile. My Acurus a200Five sounds fantastic on my RF series HT and sounded great hooked to the Quartets as well.

  9. The others are bang on about grabbing the rt-10d until you can find a rsw-15. I was very happy with my rt-10 and only upgraded because of the chance to do it unexpectantly when the rsw-15 popped up.

I'm not even using the rsw -15 to any where close to it's potential due to room size and couple loose teeth in my head :D

  10. Mine in roughly 3000 ft3. Would the rsw be too much for the space?

I thought it would be here, but it works great and really pressurizes (sp?) my 13x24 room, and will be around a long time if and when I move into a bigger space!

  11. I have not heard either sub but I've read they're both very good. I'm not opposed to another sub...a long as it is a good value, is articulate, good with both music and ht applications, and is very reliable. Would prefer it to go near or below 20hz. I want to feel it, not only hear it! :)

The room size is approximately 22 x 14 x 9 (LxWxH). It is fully carpeted. The sub placement will be along the front wall (14ft) not in a corner. It's use would be approx 55% HT and 45% music.

Approximate price for the RT10D is 550.

I think that answers most of the questions. :)

    Thanks again for any input.

    - Wes

have both of those subs and a room very close to your size. The rt-10 is a great sub for both music and HT but if you're set on needing near or below 20hz, then forget the rt-10 as it drops off the table around 30hz. I have the RSW-15 up front now and it is a significant improvement in all areas! I love it for the impact (feelin it) in HT and the tight bass slam for music connected to my 2 channel system and upgraded Quartets in same room. I was very happy with the rt-10d and scored this rsw-15 for 450 when it bacame available and I jumped on it very fast! The rt-10 will feel it's keeping up with RF7's until you pair them with a RSW-15 lol. I have no experience with other subs, but always read they are better deals although I can't imagine a better deal then I got for a RSW-15 for 450.

  12. Easy fix. I had same thing with top pegs almost broken off when I bought my RSW-15. Just find 2 screws with heads that fit the holes in sub snugly (mine are snug and I felt a little "pop" feel when testing the fit. Just control the length to equal the bottom ones when screwing them into the grill and it works perfectly.

  13. That looks like a great deal for $150.00. However, equipment that old usually needs a refresh by a competent tech to make is safe to use and to restore max. performance. Still, I think the reel-to-reel is probably worth a few hundred alone. I say if you don't mind shipping some units out for refurbishing and cleanup, to go for it.

Thanks Mark, I am planning on getting the Dual 1019 I have restored and replace the Dual1011 that's in it. I have a Marantz I can put in bottom shelf after getting it cleaned and back to spec (but runs fine right now). The reel to reel I have no idea about, so once I buy it I'll do the homework on the model.

I have some rough looking rb61's that need new woofers and thought I can place them in speaker area for a nice little bedroom set up.

  14. I have someone very close to me that is offerring this console for 150.00. I have a Dual 1019 and a Marantz 2225 that I would think be nice to replace the dual 1110 and old tuner in it for my bedroom. I know nothing of reel to reel and would remove that for storage purposes.

Does it sound like a reasonable plan? or anyone thinking its not worth effort. I haven't seen it in person yet, but the person seeling states it's in excellent condition (just not sure of condition of equipment inside but will replace anyways.

    any thoughts?

    Thanks
