  1. It has to be something to do with the amp, I'm running a KV2 as a center with 5.2s as fronts. My amp (yamaha rxv2095) has them all spot on after setting them up with a sound meter. Rob
  2. I am debating moving my speakers around to see if there will be any significant difference in sound quality. Any suggestions are appreciated and welcomed. Here is my current set-up: KG5.2 MAINS (set on top of subs) 2 CUSTOM 12" SUBS W/ 500 WATT PLATE AMPS Rear Surrounds KSB S1 Front effects KG .5 KV2 Center KSB 1.1 in other room as MAINS KSB 2.1 collecting dust Yamaha Rx-v2095 Yamaha M-80 Running Mains Plus all my other "stuff"
  3. Pat what re you willing to give? Mine have been hung on the wall for 7 years and have never even broken a sweat. Rob
  4. Am curious if it is better to switch my ss-1s to the front effects and put the sb-1s as the rear surrounds? Apparently the front effects only work during pro logic, whereas the rears should sound better as the sb-1 is a full range speaker, BTW I seem to watch more dolby-digital encoded material. All this is until I get the RS3's TIA, Rob
  5. What would you do..... While taking apart my KV-2( it started making a metal on metal noise whenever it played bass freqencies) it turns out there was a 1/2 of a screw hitting the metal magnet sheild. Upon further investigation (more dismantling), it turns out it must have broken off when the terminal cup was originally installed. The assembler then apparently put in another screw at an angle. This screw does not make contact with the cabinet except where it rubs against the cut-out. After a more detailed look, it also appears the the woofers were tightened down way too much(they are bowed visibly). The dilemma is this: these are approximately 7 year old speakers. Do I have any recourse? Do I ignore these Q.C. issues? or, just move on and continue to enjoy them? All my other KLIPSCH speakers have been flawless. I have owned KLIPSCH for the last 15 years and I love them, and I still believe they are some of the best products available. Rob
  6. I am in the early stages of building a pair of Sonotube Subwoofers to match my 5.2's. My question is this: what frequency should they be tuned to, to be the best match for the 5.2's ? I will be using 1 SHIVA driver in each ported tube. Thanks in advance, Rob
  7. I just went through the same dilemma. If the box has HS2-TR on it it means that the speaker has been rewired wirthout the transformer. This makes the speaker ready for a normal 8 ohm connection. If not, you need to by-pass the transformer. Enjoy, Rob
  8. Saw this while surfing. Is this the "infamous" Speaker matching chart? Rob
  9. Can KSB-S1's be used as front effect speaker in a 6.1 set-up? The mains are 5.2's and surrounds are ss-1's. Rob
  10. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My current system consists of the following: YAMAHA DSP-A1000 (7 channel prologic, NOT DD or DTS) KG 5.2 Mains KV 2 Center SS 1 Surrounds YAMAHA YST SW-150 Sub After some long listening sessions, I am going to up grade my A/V reciever. I have decided on the RX-V3000. This leaves me with the following dilemma: Do I use my KG 1.5 's for the front surrounds, or get another set of SS1's. Or something else? I am also debating getting another Yamaha YST SW-150 for the front sound stage. Or, am I missing something? Any suggestions? The room has limitations in the fact that the rear surround speakers cannot be relocated (one is mounted above a sliding glass door, the other is at the same height at the end of a wall). Any help is appreciated. BTW, 70% movies, 30% music. Thanks, Rob
  11. My current system consists of the following: YAMAHA DSP-A1000 (7 channel prologic, NOT DD or DTS) KG 5.5 Mains KV 2 Center SS 1 Surround YAMAHA YST SW-150 Sub My question is, what are the reccommendations for a new A/V Reciever? I have really liked the YAMAHA/KLIPSCH combination, but I am willing to try another brand. I am trying to keep the cost down since I now have children. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance. Rob
