  1. I just scored a like new KV-3 for $100 buy it now on ebay. Keep checking often, the deals are out there but they only come around once every two or three weeks it seems. Pat
  2. I am in the market for a set of white or black SS1 surround speakers. If you have a set and are wanting to part with them give me a shout. Thanks Pat punch1@g2a.net
  3. I have heard of people using a vacuum cleaner to suck the dent out. I'd be careful and maybe filter some of the power by placing a cloth over the end of the hose first and try that. I have two dented dust covers and just left them like that for now. Pat
  4. When I first started with my home theater in my living room in February, I came across a great review for the Onkyo HT speaker system at CNET and bought the system for just over $200. I have to admit, for the money, it sounded great. It came with 5 speakers and a decent subwoofer. I have since bought Klipsch products for both my upstairs and downstairs HT. I was planning on putting the Onkyos up on ebay sometime when I get a chance but would sell them outright for $175. They still have 21 months on the factory warranty and have the original boxes and owners manuals, etc. At any rate have her take a look at the review and see what she thinks. For the price, I would strongly recommend them over the JBLs, Kenwoods and Sony kits found at some of the chain stores. Pat
  5. Well, I finally picked them up and have about 20 hours or HT & music on them already. They sound awesome! These are the same Klipsch speakers that I remember from back in 1987 or so when I had the same pair. I can't believe the sound that can come from a smaller 2-way speaker! They are a keeper indeed. I didn't bat an eye when I picked up another pair for $145. Those will go in my basement HT. I also enjoy the KV-1 center that I recently picked up. It's a great match with the KG4. Now I just have to find the right set of surounds. I currently run KG2s upstairs and some older BICs downstairs. They work but I think I'm leaning towards the SS-1 surrounds for both HTs because of size and placement constraints. Thanks again for all of your suggestions and tips! Pat
  6. mOOn, It gets better. Have you ever been sniped yet? There is a sofware program out there that will outmatically enter any bid you want on ebay at any time you want. Traditionally, it's set up for a person who uses this software to steal or "snipe" an auction away from you with very few seconds left in the auction. It'll place any bid amount you previously agreed to at the very last second thuis not allowing you a chance to respond appropriately. What next? Pat
  7. I'm sorry, I mis-typed my current set-up. I do indeed have the KV-3 with my KG-4s and in fact you were the one who suggested it on another post. Great recommendation! They sound great! Thanks Pat
  8. How were the SS-1 speakers matched up with the KG4s and KV-1? These may actually physically fit because I would have very little head room. They are in a basemnet with a relativey low suspended ceiling. Pat
  9. So the idea of the the surround speakers is not to be mounted behind the listener but along the sides of the listener? I'm guessing this would apply for a 5.1 channel set-up. In a 7.1 set-up, you would have surrounds along the side and behind? You'll have to excuse my inexpertise in this area. Thanks Pat
  10. 12 views and not one opinion? I'm depending on some of you to come through for me here! Thanks Pat
  11. I love the unit. NAD didn't spend money on extra DSPs and put it elsewhere in the unit. That works for me because I pretty much listen to two-channel audio and then the DTS, if available, or otherwise 5.1 DVD movies. I never was a HALL, Stadium, etc fan. So that may be a consideration for you. They do offer their EARS dsp which I like. I always liked NAD and thought they gave you pretty good bang for their buck. They had a period mabe during the mid-1990's where they had some trouble and quality control problems with some of their stuff, but I understand it has long since been corrected and they are now living up to their reputation again. Before your drop $1000 or so, check it out though if possible. Pat
  12. My room rec room is 30' x 26' The back wall is about 20' from my normal view position and about 30' from the TV. Is that too far to mount my KG2s for surrounds? I have a low ceiling downstairs and would need to mount them against a wall if I use these speakers for surrounds. What do you think? Pat
  13. Hello again and thanks for everyones help so far. The system is coming together and I really enjoy it. My next possible purchase will be for rear surround sound speakers. Right now I have the KG4s up front with a KV3 in the middle. I do have a set of older KG2s that are lying around and they would probaby be suitable for the rears, but there is a problem with mounting them to the ceiling. They are also quite large for surrounds and it'll be tough to make them work. What other options are out there? What would you recommend keeping in mind that my only option is to mount them on a rear wall near the ceiling or from the ceiling itself? Thanks again everyone! Pat
