  1. Same idea here. No way I could afford a 70"+ LED or Plasma but with the Mitsu DLP it's easy to compromise and it keeps up ok with the picture quality of my 42" Panny Plasma and 42" Visio LED in the other rooms.

My dad has a 65" LED backlit, 3D, 240Hz and it's ok too. I'll live with my DLP until the prices of the large screens come down. My room is large and I sit 17' away from my TV so I have to have a large screen.

  2. I just got a set of M40's and I'm very happy with them. First use was for on a 5.5 hour flight from San Francisco to Miami.

I watched 3 movies and listened to a bit of music over the entire trip and did not get ear fatigue or heaviness at all.

The white noise for the noise cancelling feature is not very strong but once you add some music or sound it blocks out everything.

The sound from my music is fine too but I need to upgraded to some FLAC stuff to really give an opinion.

I was looking for a set for awhile and finally bit the bullet and paid the $350 retail price at Fry;s.

    I like them very much.

  3. I'm positive that they are not connected to the Surround Back ports on the AVR. (unles the AVR is labeled wrong) [:(]

In fact none of the other surround speaker settings even appear on the screen until after I changed the Surrounds from None to Small.

After I did that the Surround Back and Front Wide and Front Height actually displayed.

It looks like you have to at least have 5.1 before you can go to 7.1 ,9.1 or even 11.1.

  4. I have been running a 3.1 configuration with my Denon AVR 3311CI. I have Klipsch RF-7 fronts and a RC-64II center with a BIC PL200 sub.

I just got the wires run in my ceiling to connect my new Klipsch KS7502-THX surround speakers.

When I go into the AVR menu to try and re-run the Audyssey I do not hear any tones for them. The front left, front right, front center and subwoofer all have the test tones like normal but none for the newly connected surrounds.

I also went into the AVR menu and tried the manual setup of the speaker configuration and I could not get any test tones for the surrounds either. The fronts, center and sub were all ok.

I made sure the wiring was good by touching a 9v battery to the banana plugs that I plug into the back of the AVR surround ports. I heard the little popping noice for the correct left and right side speaker.

Is there anything else that I might be missing or any other setup options that I may need to do on the AVR to get my surrounds working?

Maybe I should try to plug them into the surround back ports instead to determine if the surround ports may be bad on my AVR?

  5. I love my Harmony 1100 and it has great WAF too. The only thing I might add to the equation is the RF kit so you don't have to actually point the Harmony at the devices. Sometimes when the wife is reclined in the sofa she has to hold the remote up to peek over the coffee table otherwise the line of site IR codes don't make it to the devices.

Love the setup process where you just tell it what brand and model equipment you have and it asks you a few questions and then automatically sets everything up for you. The wife absolutely loves the fact that the other 5 remotes are tucked away and she only has to use one remote now. It's all touch screen and she can figure out everything on her own. Easy peasy. A winner all around.

  6. I have had the 73" Mitsu for almost 3 years now. My room is 25' x 30' and I sit about 17' away from the screen. The room has double french doors, a 6' x 6' window, a half door 2' x 2' window and a 4' x 4' kitchen window. I originally wanted a projector but because of the brightness settled on the DLP. I didn't figure that an LCD or Plasma would do any better as I have those in the bedrooms that don't have that many windows.

So far I am real pleased and can watch any game or movie at any time of the day. It even has an auto brightness setting for auto switching between day and night viewing.

For the price of large screen viewing I couldn't beat it as there was nothing in that size back then and even now they still cost almost twice as much. I don't see any 92" LCD's or Plasma's yet that the average consumers can afford.

I'd upgrade in a heartbeat to the 92" if the shops had them here. I couldn't wait on the 83" so I just took the 72" they had in stock.

  7. Thanks all. I will have to play around with the glass shelf above the speaker and see if I can get it into a lower position and still leave ventilation for the AVR below. The AVR was so heavy I had to reposition it to the bottom wood shelf as it was bending the glass shelf. I seriously doubt if I have enough room to put the center speaker on the glass shelf and the AVR on the bottom one which is how I was hoping to get it setup.

Yeah, my room could do with a lot of room corrections as it pretty stark with hard walls and tile floors. Lately the $ went into all the equipment and I haven't even done rugs, pictures or curtains after the move in to make it more homey.

  8. I'm happy to report that after re-running Audyssey again the system sounds amazing. The RC-64II center has integrated quite well with the RF-7's and the voices are separate and clear through it. The other audio tracks are distinct coming through the RF-7's with mid range full and enjoyable. The addition of the BIC PL-200 sub has added more punch to the bass and is especially enjoyable watching movies. I'm just loving it!

  9. Ok, I gotcha about the Sonance now.

So if I'm having a party and I want to have the same music playing inside on my Zone 1 and outside on my Zone 2 except I want the outside music to play a bit louder can this be accomplished just with the AVR?

Most people who will be inside just want background music so they can talk and the others outside are partying and want it loud.

  10. Thanks again. I took a look at your your setup and all I can say is WOW! what a house. You have a beautiful setup there. Enjoy it!

My setup was posted in tehre the other day too. Pretty similar accoustics in that we have hard floors and open space. I need a floor rug and maybe some wall hangings and drapes but I wanted my HT stuff first in this new house. The wife and her wants will have to wait a few more paychecks!

Yeah, I wish I could find another deal on another set of THX's but I need to back off for now. I also found a deal on the outdoor AW-650's so I have to think about how I'm going to use those for the back porch. I was hoping to wire them as Zone 2 outside. Do I have to get the Sonance box you used or can I listen to the same source that is playing inside with a little louder volume on Zone 2 for the outside? I don't have a volume control box for outside either as I was hoping to be able to just use the remote somehow.
