  1. I just looked Rubber up and watched a preview. WOW that's 2 minutes and 25 seconds I can never get back. Now if that was a commercial it might have been half funny but a whole movie? I would guess that has a suck factor of 9.9 out of 10. Much worse I would guess than sucker punch?

  2. Someone in a thread recommended this film so....I got it. Well......I have to say if a movie has the word suck in the title that about says it. I give this two thumbs down and a boo. It is absolutely horrid for the first thirty minutes then for about 5 minutes is ok then bad for 10-15 then ok for 5 or so. I only made it for about 1/2 of the movie. And that says something. I have been told by several people that I like some "bad movies" as they call them. This movie really makes no sense at all. It has one of those plots that the writer thought he was being so crafty that he thought he was clever. WRONG. And I was not really impressed with the sound.

  3. The only way to prove/debunk this would be to do a blind test.

Get 5 people that believe in this.

5 people that think this is BS.

and 5 people that could go either way.

Have each person listen to a song on their home system for a few weeks so they know how it should sound.

Then have some speakers that have 80 hours on them. A pair with 10 hours.

And a pair of new ones for each person to listen to.

Then have them listen to the song in a random order on the speakers each person by themselves.

This is the only way to prove/debunk. Until then it is all heresy.

  4. After I got screwed on some speaker wire I did a little research about wire gauges.

If I was to buy wire again I would base it on the SWG = Standard Wire Gauge.

There is a big difference in gauge types. And it is amazing how many standards there are.

Here is the best list I could find on wire gauges....http://www.dave-cushman.net/elect/wiregauge.html

  5. If you are talking about getting new RC-62 II then speed the extra $100 and get one of those for the center and get the RF-82 II for the L/R.

If you can not do that then the RF-52 II will sound much better as a L/R than the RC-62 II.

The 52's are what I started with for the fronts and I was really surprised at how good they sounded for just being a little 5" speaker.

  6. The train wreak was great with the surround and LFE.

The first commercials I saw when this first came out made me not want to watch this.

It made it look kind of hulkesh? And I dislike hulk stuff.

But about 3 weeks ago they showed a new commercial that made it look interesting.

So...I watched it. It was better than advertised.

  7. I got 4 of the RW-12d's from newegg.

For movies and games they work great.

I cant really say much about with music bacause I have not really found a good setting with my amp that will do 2.1.

I was just messing around with the Test CD that I down loaded from here and with all 4 running at about 17-18 HZ I could start to hear/feel them.

Just by changing the phase I was able to move my sweet spot of bass to my sitting position.

It was about 8 feet behind me.

  8. I would vote for the Sharp 70" 733 LED 240 hz.

I have had it for about a month and I have been extremely happy with it.

3D is cool and all but if you do not need it this tv is the way to go.

The only problem is shows in 480 or less are fairly bad picture.

When you are looking at it in the store it looks like a fairly large tv.

When you get it home and on the wall...Holy crap its huge.

I would say this is the best tv ever but I am just comparing it to my old piece of crap tv I had.

If you have the room one of the Mitsu DLP's would be the way to go.

Thats what I wanted to get but did not have the room.

However I did notice the latest model's had a lot of glare.

I would say for saving energy go with the LED.

For low heat go with the LED.

I basically can not feel any heat coming off of it.

My dad has a cheap lcd-led and it gets fairly warm.

Some one at a store told me once that a 600 hz plasma is about the same as a 120 hz LED?

  9. 9.1 has a lot of reflection points LOL!!

Now don't get me wrong because your system looks very nice and I am jealous of all of the room you have. I've got 92 inches of space to cram the whole front in. And bare in mind I have not listened to a system like yours. Now my room is very cluttered with lots of crap so this could be taking place of the panels in a clean room like yours? But isn't surround sound designed to be reflected? Isn't that the reason for die-pole speakers? Have you ever had die-pole's in your system or listened to them to compare? I was thinking of using the RS-62 or 52 II for rear and RS-42 II for side and RS-41 or 42 II for heights.
  10. Bear in mind I have never had an HD tv and my old one was a 15 year old brick of a 46" RCA rear projection. And I have only had for 3 days now.

With that having been said I love this tv.

Now I just need to find some tuning info. The colors are a little bright. I just watched Star Wars 3 last night and wholy crap the detail! I had no idea. And the sound is also good.

The only thing that has surprised me so far is the signal from Directv. I have the tv set on auto detect for the quality. I guess I figured HD meant 1080P. A lot of channels come in at 720P. Even that however still looks way better than my old tube.

I was original looking at the Mitsu 82" but I finally realized I could only fit the sharp 70" in the space I had. As you can see wall on right and hallway on left. No room to spare.

And I almost forgot the size. In the store it looks biggesh? But when I got it home and set up it seemed about 25% BIGGER.

  11. Well I finally got them in and set up.

    They sound amazing.

Now I am running four RW-12d's.

And I have to say setup was a breeze.

Thanks for the advice to keep them all the same.

I have 2 up front inside the towers under the tv.

The speakers are facing the sitting position.

They are set to 120 hz and on flat.

The back 2 are touching the back of the couch and facing left/right out to the sides.

The back ones are set at 100 hz.

One on depth and one on punch.

It almost kind of creepy when you feel the sound instead of hearing it sometimes.

Now if I can just figure out how to run 2.1 with my receiver I will be in heaven.

  12. If we would just bring our people out of the oil country's that would sure save a lot more money.

Imagine if our government used the 1.2 Trillion dollars spent on Iraq and Afghanistan for the development of fuel cells, solar or battery's?

That about of money towards those technology's and we would not even need their oil.

  13. As was mentioned earlier, calibrating multiple subs CAN be tricky.

I would assume that the issues of setting up multiple subs is PRIMARILY one of using different models in one listening room. Group delay on subwoofers in their passband can vary dramatically between models, and that means that if you set your calibration up for one frequency, they're not going to be "in-phase" at other frequencies.
Sweet. Thats the kind of answer I was looking for. Sounds like I will go with 2 more 12's. Thanks.
  14. So back to the main question. Is there anyone that has 4 subs front and rear and or different sizes.

Whats your thoughts on going with different sizes compared to all same size.

I was thinking with 2-12's and 2-10's because it might cover some sound gaps? Any one tried this?

I am not looking to try to get lower hz just an all encompassing sound.

Right now with the 2-12's I have them set with one on depth and one on punch. I enjoy the sound set that way.

So I was thinking with 2 more set on flat might be good?

  15. The RW-12ds were on sale for $329.00 two weeks ago and the 10ds for $259.00 to your door. Depending on application, that is a HUGE bang for your buck on new subs.

Yes I was disappointed I missed those.
