  1. Just because the marketing guys spent a lot of "time and effort" to come up with this new tiering strategy doesn't mean we don't appreciate it or shouldn't question it.

Well within your right. However I should point out this was a company decision, not just something we goons in the marketing dept dreamed up one lazy afternoon between arm-wrestling the engineering department, napping, and playing tiddly-winks..

This is really important point that Chad made. Decisions like this are made concurrently with the sales teams, retail partners, executives, etc.

It has been really interesting to work here. An eye-opener in many regards. People have certain stereotypes of what a marketing department does and doesn't do. A lot of those stereotypes don't apply here.

  2. The pic of me on the Oak Lascala at Dee's place had to be taken prior to November 2004, because I was heading towards the desert then until I got back in 2007.

PWK really didn't like the LOTR-themed shirt very much because it didn't make much marketing sense to him at the time, but the employees liked it so he let it slide. The one shirt he really had problems with, though, was the "Merry Klipschmas 1977" shirt that was handed out to employees along with the "Klipsch Mega-month stein" after we had the first million-dollar sales month in the company's history. PWK seemed to see that shirt design as using his name in a manner that some might possibly see as leaning towards blasphemy...so that term "Klipschmas" was never used again on anything the company sponsored while he was alive that I know of. Yes, I still have that one, too!

I learned the "Klipschmas" lesson the hard way...Ok, not really "the hard way" but I got shut down fast when I brought up using the term "Klipschmas" haha.

  3. I'll wait and see, but I think combining everything into a single Reference line confuses the consumer and waters down the prestige of the current Reference II offerings, especially if the Ref II replacements are called Reference also: "Why should I buy these RF-82IIs when I can get those new Reference R-28Fs, also with 8" woofers, for less. I mean, they're all References, right?"

We enthusiasts will understand the differences, but will J6P?

I'm with Scrappy on this one, but hopefully the strategy will be clear in time. It's of little consequence to me anyway since I just finished building out my 2x RF-7II / RC-64II / 4x RS-62II / 2x RB-81II system. :)

There will be some changes in naming that will make everything fit into place. Don't you worry.

  4. Klipsch needs to upgrade their new line up on their website especially if they are already available at Best Buy.

They aren't actually available at Best Buy yet. Best Buy just put up some preliminary product pages. When we have all the materials, including lifestyle shots, we'll fire them up there on our end.

  5. Keep in mind the new Reference line coming out in July DOES NOT replace the current Reference line. It is called the "base" line, and will be a more value positioned offering in mass retail. Still awesome, but not the high-end specialty retail products.

More Reference news coming in the next few months.

So it's replacing the Synergy line?

    And Klipsch Icon.

  7. Elijah Wood tweeted us last night with a picture of his Klipsch La Scala and the Klipsch Hobbit t-shirt!

For those wondering, we don't pay for Elijah to use La Scalas. He's just a big fan who tweeted us one day about it. Apparently, he is a big-time audiophile.

    Check out the tubes!

  8. We would like to invite everyone here to a Klipsch HQ Tour (and party!) on June 24, 2014. Think of this as a mini-pilgrimage of sorts. It won't be the full-fledged thing but after all the interest we got on a Reddit thread, we decided to throw this together.

Klipsch HQ Tour Date is June 24.

Special event from 4:30-6:00pm and official tour from 6:00-7:30pm.

    RSVP here: http://klips.ch/1oNwWsf

Visitors are welcome to come to Klipsch Headquarters (3502 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268), starting at 4:30pm. At that time, there will be a very special event going for Klipsch employees that includes live music, food trucks AND demos of a new, unannounced product series. Visitors are welcome to join in on the fun. At 6pm, the official visitor tour will begin and will last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours in which visitors will get to demo Klipsch speakers & headphones, learn about the history of the company, check out the oh-so-very unique anechoic chamber and much more.

We hope to see many of you there!

  10. To be perfectly honest, I am not sure when they were actually mailed off. I handed them over to the executive assistant a long time ago but she was swamped at the time, so I am not sure when she was able to push them out the door.

I will get in touch with her.
