  1. I had this exact issue. swap RCA's. i purchased brand new xpa 5 waited all week for it to get here, finally got it friday night, spend all night hooking it up and reorganized all my wires soldering banana plugs for good coonection at speaker wires. turn everything on...its perfect exactly what i was hoping for. jump in the shower and leave it on a lower volume. get out and im about to chill out and crank it up watching like the news or something after about 25 minutes driving at a decent volume the 3rd channel kicks in to protech mode. i instantly freak out becausei knew it wasnt that loud. start pulling everything back out, i realize that was the first banana plug i was experimenting on how i should solder, so instantly im thinking ooh must of not got a good connection inside. and plus my rca were brand new that were just opened 20 minutes before this was happening....so i cut it out get a new plug just screw it in this time with set screws, sit down turn it back up, this time it last for about 5 minutes. so i swap speakers wires does it again. 5 minutes later. so finnally at like 2 in the morning im really mad because imthinking im going to have to send this thing back. i had 1 extra rca that wasnt opened yet. open it up throw it on never had an issue since, threw that other "NEW" rca in the garbage. after that i started looking into it and the emotivas are VERY sensitive when it comes to there protection mode, so that rca would of worked fine for some other amp or reciever but not with their amps. my story wasnt the only one i had seen with new rcas not working on emo amps, just because of their tolerances
  2. I have been fighting with a hum in my setup for a longtime, i cannot figure it out. i have the xpa 5 as well. before the xpa 5 i had onkyo 809 rc 64 rf7 rs 62x4. i had a little bit of hum, didnt really worry because i knew i was getting the xpa sooner or later. after adding the xpa 5 it became alot more noticable. drove me crazy. so i do some messing around and relize it has the exact frequency as my flurescent lights...so i run a dedicated breaker to the outlet, no difference. purchase a panamax 5300 everyone says helps ...did not help. i ran cable line throught its filter as well,, hoping that if it was ground loop it would help it. It did not. i recently realized after hooking the panamax up that it is only a hum/buzz when i am watching through my wow cable box scientifc atlanta 8300. i am now thinking it is either the onkyo or something in the coaxial line that cannot be filter by the panamax. i just tonight found that wow installed a signal Amplifier about 20 feet from my HT. it is pretty much a splitter with one branch going to a power outlet that is plugged into a wall. and thinking about it ....probably would inject alot of noise into the line. anyone have any experince with these "signal Amplifiers"
  3. I have the 6500. The first blu ray player i ever purchased besides the ps3 was a BDP1500 samsung....ended up dying within a year...samsung made a mistake and fixed this 1500 and somehow sent me a replacement under warranty with a 1600...that worked good for a little over a year and wouldnt load disk any more. i then say ill give it one more try with samsung purchase a bdc6800...Picture would Go black randomly after it got hot always towards the end of a movie, movie itself didnt matter. so this past christmas i couldnt think of anything to get for christmas so i tell her to get me whatever.....she ends up getting me a bdd6500 its been fine till recently but once again after it gets hot it will start to freeze up and will no longer play the movie, you cant stop pause fast foward, only option is to turn it off. and unless it cools off it continuously does it. i now have to resort to putting it into the ps3. this happened on 2 separate occasions while watching fast five...both times it happened were prolly 5 minutes apart in the ovie. the originaly 1500 that was repaired ive had for over 4 years i believe and its the steadiest one oown. Samsung is my favorite manufacture but i have to say this might just be my last samsung blu ray purchase. i bought my 64inch 8000 series last may and its the greatest money i could have spent but when it comes to the blu ray i dont think they put that much into them. Most have better luck than me though. everytime they come out with a new line, im the first to say ooo ya maybe they'll be different this time but they have yet to prove me right
  4. sound format alone was enough of a reason for me to upgrade....slim ouputs HD master in bitstream which the fat ps3 will never do....For me i HAVE to see the reciever doing the processing or i dont believe its working. The fat one runs way to hot, it would heat my whole cabinet up
  5. i have a onkyo 809 and a emotiva xpa 5.....I really dont like the way i have to keep turning zone 2 on and off when i turnn the reciever on to switch the amp on...ive been looking at purchasing a power center for my home theater any way and i see that these panamax power centers have a trigger input and output, im hoping id be able to use the trigger out put to my emotiva and not have to worry about zone 2. does any one have any experience with the m5400. the only thing i cant find is where does the trigger signal come from....if i still need an input that it puts me right back in the same place im at now with no true trigger from the reciever,>? im reallly hoping that this is going to work. i really dont want to do the wall wart stuff and i do not have a outlet in the back of the reciever.
  6. im pretty sure the 62s are almost as close as you can get to perfect matching in my system.
  7. So ive been trying to understand why i only get the background buzzing out of all of my speakers when im in a Dolby format; Dolby digital; PLxll or Ex....i have a onkyo 809, if i switch to a THX mode it completely dissapears and i have been using the thx formats but i just realized they're making everything alot flatter, in the last month i have gotten my RF 7lls, rc 64ll and RS 62lls. i never switch back to the Dolby formats but did recalibrate a few times and tweek teh crossovers, tonight i have switched back to the Dolby format and they sound like completely different speakers....more full sounding. But my question is what does the receiver do differently for the thx than the DD ex. the buzzing is only there in the dolby digital formats im just trying to understand why. Will powering these with a external amp help or worsen the noise feedback. also if this was interference noise wouldnt it be apparent in all formats
  8. how do you like the rs 62s...i just got mine and they replaced a set of 42s....and i cannot get over how disappointed i am in difference, i guess all those posts that i read about not much of a difference from the rs 42s to 62s were true. im gonna go to those kpt 12 vb's now i guess, if i can find a store that wants to sell them, everybody has to call me back on them, and i have yet to recieve a call, none of these stores seem to have any clue what im talking about.
  9. the 1201 's dont mount flush to the wall? in the pics it looks like they do
  10. Im about to purchase the harmony 1100 , best buy has it on sale right now for an awesome price, i wish they would work the sleep timer kinks out though. ive heard they dont work and throw everything out of sync.
  11. Im really looking HARD at these things now....looks like either vanns ill be getting another return from me or they'll be going up for sale along with the 42's Does anyone else use these?? i just read some other threads and people are actually saying theese cost less than my rs 62???? thatd be nuts but then i really need to start hearing some good stuff about them because i do believe in you get what you pay for. All i ever hear about is the RS series for rears. i need some input
  12. i think i just found one of your build threads. how do they sound??? i just got these rs 62s and never before even heard of those, now im looking at them and wish i would of waited to order them....i cannot find anywhere that sells them? only local Installers ? From looking at the specs on those things id think that they would have to blow these rs62 out of the water, especially with that 12 in driver. im kinda dissapointed in the performance out of these coming from the rs 42's i thought it would be a huge step up. im almost thinking of maybe going to the professional series stuff now for the rear. honestly somehow everytime ive looked at klipschs site ive missed that section....
  13. Just wondering what everyone in the rear for surrounds and rear surrounds, im changing out my rears and just ordered 1 set of rs62s but i was actually thinking of going with a bookshelf for the Back L & R. Right now my set up is RF 7ll Rc 64ll 4x Rs42ll like i said i just ordered a set of rs 62s to replace one set of the the 42s but i started looking into the RB 61's or the RB 81s and i know some perfer having book shelves in the rear instead of 4 of the WDST rs. Im just wondering if it helps having more direction sound coming out of 1 set the rears. what do you think 4x rs62s or one set of the 62s and maybe a set of RB81's?
  14. i have the 809 running my rf 7lls and i think it sounds amazing. i honestly couldnt be happier, before with the 62s i could never really hear a difference in sound quality going from like a cable source to a Blu ray HD master track and im here to tell you that it is an amazing difference. It is such a huge difference iin sound quality that i have begun rewatching every hd master blu ray i own just to re listen. i have always read that some people could hear differences in the audio formats, well i always called it BS untill i hooked these up. i honestly dont like watching movies on tv anymore because of the muffled sound they have compared to a lossless hd. my next question if you order a B stock 7 does it come labeled as a B stock 7...im just wondering because im lookin at B stock pictures and my A stock (?) seem to look just as dark. i was assured they were A stock but really its hard to trust people over the phone. it does look a maybe a shade darker than the 64 in some angles as well. my labels just read rf 7 ll Also i plan on running a emo amp just for good measure in the coming weeks. i dont trust the onkyo running 7.1 with the big 7's in there now
  15. I got my Rf 7lls last week along with my rc64ll and my RS 42lls in the rear....i have been messing around with the audessey set up the last few days and everytime i set i run it, its never the same. it only set my 7s to 40hz...i was thinking they could probably handle full band. and the 64 was set at 60hz...i was even thinking this could go down to 40???? I cant really get a good full sound out of this yet. im running the onkyo 809 along with the rw12d. Do you guys use the dynamic eq? and the dynamic audessey set up.
