  1. The website was down for awhile but is back up now. Sorry about that. rigma
  2. Roy, Could you look at the photos I just posted at the bottom of www.jubilation.ws showing the 402 mounted on the bass bin? I want to set the 402 back so it does not overhang the bass bin exits. I am a little concerned about reflections off the top of the bass bin and would like your opinion. It is kind of hard to see but what I am doing is making another full size top plate to seal the woofer access but extending it froward by 1/4" to give some dimensional effect. Those edges and the top lip that will show on the bass bin will be Rosewood. I also placed a beveled piece simulating what the picture frame for the 402 may look like. I could bevel it or put something like a 1/2 radius and maybe 1/2" thick hoping to avoid any reflections off it. Again I would like your input and/or ideas. Input from all not just Roy would be appreciated! rigma
  3. Also I had a dream and in it Roy the "bad cowboy" told my to add them sticking screws![bs] rigma
  4. Now Dean, I did not say that.[8o|] I have been working on these a couple months and profit nor price point is an issue.[:$] I would hate to see what they would have to sell for with my overkill touches.[] rigma
  5. Just to throw you off! Actually I had a couple screws strip because I had the clutch set on my new drill to high so I added more. Hey I like overkill. I wouldn't want them babies to shake apart. rigma
  6. Dean, I am also splitting the LF & HF xover to separate boards, one each side of top plate. rigma
  7. By the way I posted new photos of mine last night at www.jubilation.ws rigma
  8. Dean, What I am doing is taking the horn off the plate and mounting the brackets directly to the bass bins. The only thing you would loose is being able to rotate the horn to aim but you would still have the vertical adjustment. That will give you more flat surface and reduce overall height by 3/4" and I think it will also look better. Hear that poo poo? Rigma
  9. More progress today. The basic bass bins are done. Now the finish work begins. See new photos at www.jubilation.ws rigma
  10. Dean, I am also building passives and I have active too to compare. The passives will be massive as I ordered Solen Air Core for all the inductors. All are below the DCR Roy specified and the 2.4mh is 10 ga.solid wire and all others are Litz! Solen is winding specials for me to the values on Roy's schematic. I went with Hovaland Caps for all but the largest which are Solen bypassed with Hovaland. Your input would be appreciated. The inductors should be here in about a week & everything else is here. 11. There are only two reasons I can think of as to why a person would come to this site and repeatedly post pessimistic and negative commentary. One, this person genuinely cares about the human psyche and is playing "devil's advocate" in an attempt to make sure people do not become blinded by their optimism while neglecting to take conscious action to change life for the better. Two, this person is hungry for attention, thrives on conflict, and is trying his darndest to get people to argue with him -- he likes getting people riled up so he can mock them. I haven't quite figured out which is the case here, but I am willing to give "poo poo" the benefit of the doubt and tentatively assume Option 1. If he is a troll, I am certainly not one to provide that sort of beast with his desired nourishment. rigma
  12. May the great bird of paradise poo poo in your Post Tosties! Who remembers that? Rigma
  13. Below is what I bought. The piece shown on my website was returned because I couldn't get 2 panels to match out of it. I gave the sales guy (Peter I think) the dims. of the front panel and he picked me a new sheet that had the pattern centered on the sheet so I could. They were very good to woke with and did not charge me anything to exchange. http://www.oakwoodveneer.com/prices/prices4_8_rz.html Rosewood - South American 22.2 MIL, Bubble Free (BFV)
  14. Jordan I replied to your PM. Thanks to all for the encouraging words. If anyone has ideas on finishing the 402's and how to do the grill cloth on the bass bins, I would love to have your input. I have some ideas in mind but would like to consider other options. I am basically thinking a Rosewood "picture frame" for the 402 with or without Grill Cloth. On the bass bins, screw a 1/8" x 1" strip of Aluminum, flush to the inside of the vertical front panel clamping the cloth. Then wrapping it around the side to behind the first angle and stapling. Then wrapping it over the top and bottom. On the top it would be covered by a panel the same shape as the top but protruding 1/4" beyond the top like on the later Klipsch Horn. The 402 would sit back from the front a couple inches as not to overhang the angled exit of the bass bins. Of course all exposed wood will be veneered and all other painted semi gloss or flat black. Boy that is hard to put into words. A question for Roy or others. Would a 3/4 x 2" wide frame screw on the front, from the back, of the 402 have a negative effect on it's sound. What about Grill Cloth. Also posted a couple new photos to the website. Rigma
  15. Ok, reached a milestone tonight. Finished assembly of the raw bass bins less tops & bottoms. New pics at www.jubilation.ws Now there is light at the end of the tunnel. Rigma

  17. Mark, I think we all need to be very careful here. I know JC did a great job building the clones. As you may know, I am also building a pair and part of the process was many hours of research to try to make them as close as possible to the real deal. I can tell you that yours have several things that are different enough that, I believe will cause them to sound different than the Jubilee. Now I don't know if that is good or bad but I do believe they will sound different. It just concerns me that people reading this might make a judgment to buy or not to buy Jubilees based on reviews of a speaker that may sound substantially different than the Klipsch Jubilee. I'm not sure how I will handle discussing how mine sound when the time comes, maybe a big disclaimer at the top of any post stating "These are not Real Jubilees and may not sound anything like them" or something to that effect. Please don't take this in a negative way, that is not what was intended. Rigma
  18. OK let me get this straight, So you are saying that a PP amp with 25+ watts is not better than low powered SET, it just different? Please post a notarized copy of that! Rigma
  19. Got more done Sat. but today was the Daytona 500 so no work.. hey I am a Redneck..OK Will add pics to the web site tomorrow And yes I am patient, want it done right and it ain't like I don't have something great to listen to now. By the way, I am building your passive. Rigma
  20. Todd you have a good eye. We saved that tag"6SPLIT3" because it was off a 63 split window Corvette used to have[] We lived in Yalobusha County, just outside Water Valley for for 21 years. Do you have a connection to Yalobusha County? Rigma
  21. Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my build. Lisa I think Dr. Who answered your questions the same as I would have. Parrot, My current plan is to basically build a picture frame out of Rosewood to frame the 402, I have the Grill cloth that I may or may not attach to the backside of the frame. I will wait till they are finished and see how the look without the cloth. I will use grill cloth on the bass bins. Oh by the way the 402 horn sounds amazing powered by my 300B SET amps! and my room is large, see the room link at the bottom of the website www.jubilation.ws[8o|] Rigma
