  1. Do you guys really belive "burning a cable in" changes anything?
  2. Dean you really should try Bi-amping using an active tube crossover. Best of both worlds! MB
  3. This looks exactly like the non skid shelf lining I bought at Wal Mart for $3.00 (enough to make a dozen of these! It even looks hand cut with bad scissors.
  4. Guy, Once I complete the mod on my unit I will let you know how it went, and have a better handle on cost.
  5. Sorry Craig, the platter still will rotate clockwise with respect to the brush..LOL.. I will let you know how the mod goes, as I will have all the parts in a few days. There will be absolutely no visible mods to the unit, it should be slick!
  6. I am adding a reveresable motor and switch to my new VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine. Most all agree it is important to clean in both directions. I am thinking about offering a kit to acomplish this, it would include a new motor with warranty, reversing switch to replace existing turntable switch, new motor mounting bracket, allen wrench, wiring and detailed instructions. The cost would be about $160-$175. Just want to see what you guys think, is there any interest? MB
  7. Does anyone see where this is going? If this kind of crap continues how do you think KLIPSCH will respond? Do you think they might suspend this forum? I for one don't want that to happen, but will be surprised if they don't! Come on guys just try to get along so we don't loose this great forum. MB
  8. Actually I cancelled my order with "Galen Carol Audio", (the $425 did not include shipping) because they were out of stock for a couple weeks, but bought one from "Audio Advisor" for $426.00 including shipping. Talk to Chris and ask for that price including shipping, which is less than their normal price. I ordered Monday and received it today(wed.) MB
  9. Thanks for everyones input. I just ordered a new one for $425.00 from Galen Carol Audio.
  10. Audio Flynn, You are probably right. Where is the best place to order one, as in cheapest?
  11. Does anyone on the board have a VPI 16.5 to sell? email me if you do or know someone who does.
  12. Max, you may want to do a search for post by Mallet, he has written a lot of good info on recording LP's in hig res.
  13. Kelly, Where can I find a LAM 6SN7 SRPP? MB
  14. PAULPARROT, Is this the SACD you are refering to? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006GO7T/qid=1069178540/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/102-0012535-6406536?v=glance&s=music
  15. painful reality, Thanks for the heads up, I just placed an order for both on Amazon. MB
  16. Marie, Although the 13 x 25 room is not perfect (Golden Mean) I think it would still sound very good. If you have a dolly you should be able to get them up stairs, me and my wife did. On many Khorns the midrange section can be easily removed thereby reducing the weight. $1500 sound like a good deal. MB
  17. Mark, Can you are anyone else recommemd any good book or reading material relating to testing and tuning tube amps? MB
  18. jazman, "You are a "johnny come lately"" Where did that come from? Maybe you should read closer, I have been a member here longer than you and have read most every thing posted. Nuff said, I won't be drug into a childish argument with you. MB
  19. jazman, Why are you so obsessed with the fact that Craig has not been doing this for long? I, on the other hand, am more impressed by the fact he has learned so much in such a short time! That speaks volumes about his ability to comprehend this stuff. Craig helped me trouble shoot a problem with my MK-III I had been working on all day in just a few min on the phone, and NO he didn't ask for anything in return. Your badgering him is getting old! Get over your jealousy of him, it makes you look so childish! MB
  20. Mark or Craig, Explain what the below means and how to change it. I now have scope & function gen. I want to test my newly rebuilt MK-IIs. Also how do you set bais for class "A" or more toward that using the scope? My amps are wired in triode with K-88s and Triode(Brand) driver board with AC balance. Rigma "Although these have been tuned for a pretty narrow band top end (very smooth rounded leading edge at 20KHz) I like my MKIIIs tuned much "hotter" at the top. I try to get the full-power band out to 30KHz which will be reflected by a steeper leading edge with just a tiny overshoot, no ringing. It's always a compromise."
  21. I will gladly pay for this CD + shipping and handling.
  22. Thanks Kelly, do you know the real Joe Roberts' email address? B&M
  23. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Sound Practice back issue CD. I tried to order from www.southernelectricaudio.com but they are out of business. You can email me. Thanks in advance. MB
  24. I spoke to Craig Sunday by phone and Email yesterday. I must say I was strugling with a MK-III rebuild that had high voltage readings on the driver board and no output at all. Within 10 min on the phone with Craig he discovered the problem which was fixed in another five. The amp sounds great, so now on to the second one. Craig thanks for the great help, you rock.
  25. dbflash, I have a pair of Curcio premium mod boards, already built, I may be willing to sell if you are interested. You can email me at bmautomation@charter.net
