  1. I want to make something really clear here. Mobile left because he wanted too ! Mobile will come back if he wants too. No one and I mean no one told him to leave at all. Just some people got tired of his pissy "I know it all" attitude about everything and personal attacks on others Opinions and started to bite back. I hate to be the one that finally made him seem to disappear. I found most of his post to be great reading and he has a vast knowledge of things Audio. I really don't know what his problem was lately seems like he was uptight all the time. He went on the defensive as soon as I wasn't overjoyed with the HF-81 and wouldn't do a thing to help me out with the purchase he urged me to pursue. Now let me make this clear he did not tell me to buy the HF-81 I bought. But urged me to get one none the less. After getting it and seeing the quality of the components of these amps I was disappointed. Not in the shape of the AMP I received but of any HF-81. This was my Opinion of the unit and that was that. Ever since I stated that I was like on the Mobile black list and anything he could nit pick me on was far game. I think Mobile has a real dominating personality and loves newbies that he can control and mold there audio thoughts to his. As soon as you become a independent thinker and stray from his line of thinking your in for it. I myself wish he would come back but learn to change his writing habits to some extent and quit being paranoid about everything. He actually told me he thought Mdeneen, Klipped and myself were a Army of three he couldn't win the battle with !! What battle ? Pretty Paranoid statement if you ask me. 4. Yea Allan you were on this subject like a bad habit !!! I'm pretty much a 70's rock freak and can't believe the deal I get on LP's at my local used shop. $3 to $4 a LP. So i've been stacking up. I just called them to order but got a answering machine. God I hate that ! 5. Actually I could beat my chest and pump up the ego !! But I didn't make the little gif. A friend did it from another forum I hung out at years ago. I actually down sized it slightly and screwed it up. It used to move my name back and forth. But thanks Craig ------------------ HH Scott 299 Amp HH Scott LT-110B Tuner HH Scott P-87 Turn Table Grado cartridge Sony CDP315 CD Drive 1985 Walnut Heresey I KSW-15 Subs>c>

  8. JoshT Great review there ! I have heresy I's and use a KSW-15 sub with a HH Scott 299 vintage tube amp. I wish you could audition mine. You would I think start searching Ebay. But then again maybe your not a fixer upper type I don't know. It does sound real sweat and I would say it strongest point is real active 70's Horn , Piano and Guitar Rock music like Bruce springsteen , Billy Joel, Steve miller , Led Zepplin, Pink floyd and Elton John and on and on I listen to it all and mostly on Vinyl. Of coarse it may be great at classical to but I personnally don't go there. Good luck in your search for the perfect Tube Amp Craig ------------------ HH Scott 299 Amp HH Scott LT-110B Tuner HH Scott P-87 Turn Table Grado cartridge Sony CDP315 CD Drive 1985 Walnut Heresey I KSW-15 Subs>c>
  9. jazman I'm really not frustrated at all with the HF-81. Its Mobile that got frustrated. I'm in Tube Bliss myself I have 2 perfect working Scott's the HF-81 is no big deal really. In fact I'm not pulling my hair out at all I sold the bare chassis for $10 less than I paid for the whole thing LOL !!!!! I get to keep the tubes and it has some juicy tubes. I have 5 EICO mullards that all test real strong and 4 are about as close to a match as can be LOL !!!! I also have 2 dead matching Mullard EZ-81s and a good Tungsol 12AU7 and 2 good 6BQ5's. Now I call that getting my money's worth for $10 LOL !!!!! Let me know if anyone wants the EZ-81s I have no use for them. Make me a reasonable offer and I'll sell them to a fellow Klipchster first. Thanks for your thoughts and help you da man Craig This message has been edited by NOS440 on 04-01-2002 at 11:02 PM
  10. Those are cool didn't go to his other auction's
  11. Now lets get back to constructive discussion please !! tbabb I'd like to thank you for the High res photo great job !! I hate to ask but could you possibly take it one more time only if its not to much trouble remove the side panels to show the edge to edge of the under chassis. It would be real helpfull. This is no hurry at all and if you don't want to go to the trouble no big deal. Thanks you've been very helpfull Craig
  12. Mike I really don't even want to go where ever it is your trying to take this. I have not said one derogatory word to Mobile until today period !!!!!! I have put up with his Bull all I'm going too. If you like him that's your right I could careless. I listened to the him. My mistake I have no problem with that(for that matter I'm a grown adult and it was my decision). I bought the unit knowing it would need work. The first post I put up about it I didn't complain about it and thought it was a great chance to learn. He has went on the defensive all the way thru the ordeal for NO reason. Besides I absolutely can not lose with this purchase anyway you look at it. Where in this thread have I slammed the EICO ?? please you better read elsewhere. Like the other thread on it where Jazzman hooked it up to his heresy's to confirm for me that it is indeed my Amp and not all HF-81s I'm not complaining about my Amp. I have however made it more than clear that I'm not impressed with them as a whole. So what !! That's my Opinion and if King Mobile doesn't like Oh well. No one told him to go off and pout !!!! Also could you please show me where I have pounded Mobile into the Dirt please other than this thread slightly !!!!! are we clear !! 13. mike stehr Hey 45 tubes at 1 1/2 watts explain please !!!
  14. I just took a look at the under chassis photo tbabb posted for us and come to the conclusion that either EICO changed the parts used bigtime over the years or his amp does not have one single resistor , coupling cap , ceramic cap on it that matches the parts that were in mine and any others pictures I have seen so far even the wire is higher quality. In other words his amp is completely rebuilt. Which for him from my veiwpoint is a real good thing !! Craig This message has been edited by NOS440 on 03-31-2002 at 07:10 PM
  15. Well Well leave it to Mobile Homeless to only speak up when he can cause more confusion !!!!! I guess I should of said a little more knowing who would be reading the thread. Mobile....don't you think that when Klipped and Mdeneen put the HF-81 on the bench to put it thru its paces that they will listen to it also please !!!!!! I really beginning to think your just a big bag of Hot Air. You spout off your opinion's like they are written on tablets left over from the ten commandments. But then when we listen and buy because of your opinions where do you go ?? I asked you nicely a number of times for a good under chassis photo of a HF-81 what happened ?? Have you ever given me one bit of help to try to get my HF-81 working in a manner where I could say whether or not they are good or bad ?? Why exactly do you want a picture of my work bench ? WTF is that all about ? Dude your losing it !!!!! Craig This message has been edited by NOS440 on 03-31-2002 at 10:27 PM
  16. Mdeneen I did the Grounding you suggested with almost no improvement. Its a dust pan special and I'm not going to touch it till you do the benching on Klipped HF-81 and see if its worth the effort. Craig This message has been edited by NOS440 on 03-31-2002 at 12:51 PM
  17. tbabb You received a excellant deal on that amp. Chris Robinson paid just a few dollars more without getting the High dollar Caps and such you received. To me it looks like there isn't one original part in the under chassis or EICO did some serious changes to these amps as the years of production went on. Klipped My HF-81 has the Lipped version transformers and no I can't get rid of the noise in the amp not even close. I tried all kinds of bandaids some I thought of and some Mdeneen thought of. I've come to the conclusion that if I keep it I have to gut it if I want it to sound right period. So I'm waiting for the build manual from you. When I get it I'm going to get out the dust pan and start from scratch. Buy all new tube sockets and the works. That is unless I just decide to sell the parts. What will be the clincher will be Mdeneen's tests on yours at the bench. If it looks like this amp can be all that people say it can be sonically then I will give it the respect it deserves but until I have some proof I still say its way over rated. Craig
  18. And a real juicy offering !!!! Linkage
  19. Mostly thought the wiring layout was nice !! Linkage
  20. Thought I would post this for anyone that might be interested. Clean looking units. Linkage
  21. Nice Amp you have there !! I sure wish mine was even in the same ball park as that beauty. It looks like it was wired yesterday ! ! Nothing in the under chassis looks to be 40 years old thats for sure. Someone must of had it sealed in a plastic bag and stores since it was built LOL Where did you score that beatiful example ?? Craig
  22. Yea I had that shoot out thing going to until I seen the butcher work done to my HF-81 LOL !! I sure hope you guy's have better luck then me !!
  23. Anyone know any thing about this Amp ? Is it any good ? I recieved it from a freind asking me to see if it is repairable. The only thing I can find as far as model is this on the rear WARP-019. Going by that name I don't expect to much LOL !!!!!!
  24. Jazzman Thanks I appreciate your efforts !!! It confirms what I expected. So here's the game plan. I have done all the wiring bandaids I'm willing to do to this HF-81. So I'm going to have the do a complete gut job or nothing at all and just part it out. I have a guy right now that is interested in everything but the tubes and we will see what he comes up with ! I never thought of the option of selling it that way he did. It sounds good to me because I would love to keep the tubes. I could sell the ones I don't need and keep the rest. So if someone wants the EZ-81s they may be for sale. There Mullards and test great dead even at 100 on my EICO 667 tube tester. But don't get excited yet we will have to see what happens with this buyer. Craig
  25. Klipped I really wish I lived near you. You would have to be a ball to have a few beers with and listen to tunes. Those slogans you come up with never seem to be the same and alway's funny !!!!
