You just have to call for prices, just like Klipsch speakers, places can only show MSRP online. Electronics expo and audioholics seem to have the best prices on them tho. There is also a deals thread on AVS for the 4311 that gives shopping codes at electronics expo. Let me know if you are interested and I'll track down the link. As far as I know the codes still work, but give EE a call and see what kind of price they'll give you.

Sweet pics everyone. Palladiums are definitely on my wish list...
@Skule - Looks like you could use a universal remote =^P

I bought for future proofing as well. I figured if I was going to buy a system, I may as well buy something that will last me a while and sound good in any room I was going to be putting them in.

4311 just on XT32.
-
^^^I knew when I typed judder it didn't sound right...=^P
-
I read somewhere that denonlink is really great for improving sound as well since it stops judder. I can't really explain it any better than that =^P But after I read that I've been looking at Denon bluray players instead of Oppo since I also have a denon AVR.

How much?Well I have confused myself even more.....I am trying to decide if I go for the Denon AVR-3312 or the 4310. Both are close in price. I am going to have to give it a few weeks before I can buy a dedicated amp.

This is what I use for my RB-81s. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UV03MW/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02

The thing is, it's so rare to find a full on analog recording nowadays. There is usually always something digital somewhere in the chain, so it's near impossible to get a 'true analog sound'.

Yeah, I'd say youthman's camera is a bit more advanced =^P
-
^^^which one?
-
^^^I agree. I have a pair of studio monitors for that sorta thing.

^^^what he said.

My 706 is still running strong in bedroom duty. As far as the question RCA vs XLR. RCAs will work fine in short runs. If you are going to have the amp and pre/pro separated across the room, XLRs will be the way to go.
-
You could also look at the Onkyo 818 for a little more than that and get audyssey XT32. I personally love my 4311, but that'll cost a little less than double of the price you put above. It's a near top of the line Denon that's a couple years old, but will have everything you could want.
-
Pretty cool looking. I don't think I'd ever do something like that myself...but I don't have a spare 2 mil just laying around either.
-
If you are willing to drop a couple hundred more, you can grab up a Denon 4311.
-
Good to know.
-
I know others have said it, but it was confirmed on the AVS thread as well that you can do video pass thru in standby.
-
Hrmm...didn't know about that. I thought you had to convert to 128 on that feature.
-
I wouldn't be able to do that because I wouldn't be able to fit everything I have on my ipod then.
-
I'm not sure how to do it if it's possible, so I put the question up on AVS. I'll let you know what I find out.
-
Denonlink is just supposed to keep the timing of sound and video perfect.
-
Haven't tried that...what would be the purpose of passing thru? Only reason I can think of is if you want to use the TV volume for watching regular TV?
Onkyo or denon????

I really haven't and here is why:
I really like to listen to things as they were *meant* to be heard. When it comes to heights and wides, it has to do with processing which I personally don't like to mess with for the most part. I haven't ruled it out as I actually recently thought about it again. I have an extra set of speakers that really aren't getting used in the bedroom since I just have an XBox in there (no 7.1), so trying them out in different scenarios wouldn't be a big deal other then the eyesore of the wires and the fact that they are totally different brands/sizes then the rest of the stuff I have. Either way tho, I have no regrets in buying a 9.2/11.2 capable AVR because once I get into a bigger house/room I can really try to experiment. I really can't see myself 'growing out' of this AVR within the next 5 years. When I first started looking for a new AVR, I was sold on the onkyo 818, but on AVS forum people talked me into considering the 4311 (in a not so nice manner, ha ha), and I had arguments with them about how it is 2 years old and blah blah blah. In the end, they made extremely good arguments about how nothing new is coming out this year that is worth spending the extra money on and that the 4311 has everything that you could need in an AVR for some time. I reluctantly agreed in the end, and then changed my mind to agreeing whole-heartedly. I can and will recommend this AVR for anybody looking for a new AVR. I love it's features and it's sound. My experience in the AVR world is onkyo and now denon. I can't hate on onkyo because my 706 is still running strong in my bedroom. I can't comment on other brands, but from my research and experience, the 4311 is a superb (if not top) choice in the bang for buck category. If you are thinking of buying one, do it, you will not regret your choice for 1 second. I bet my Air Force career on it ;^)
