  1. So guys... Do any of you notice any degradation from your main speakers by plugging them into the back of the SWS and then plugging the SWS into your soundcard? I heard some people had problems with that... I think SWS's would be better than a home theater solution for me at this point. I took back my sony sub finally today. Might use the money to re-purchase a "better" solution. My dorm room at college is pretty small though...

I know about the $50.00 limit but do not want the hassle. If a company with not accept my credit card over the phone or a personal check by mail I don't do business with them. There are many company that will accept this type of payment. ---------------- Whatever helps you feel better... Personally I think its more convenient to order over the net. These days no one wants to talk over the phone anyway. And those who do want to talk are incompetent.

Far better then 4.1 dual 6.5's with the tube port. Granted the SWS nor the ultra can hit that 25 zone very loud however teamed up they do a much better job. My only complaint about the SWS is that the sws link cord is really short, 2 feet. So I will be forced to buy a new one. However the control pod is really long, at least 12 feet. Question about the santa cruz, i noticed it only has 4 channel digital out. I mean granted its only thu one wire, but it says "digital 4.1", not "digital 5.1" What is that crap all about? ---------------- I must ask you. What is the cable that goes from the SWS link to anywhere else? Male RCA to Male RCA? If I have SWS's I am not going to deal with short cords... If the cable I mentioned will do it, I will be at radioshack within the next hour.
  5. DUDE! Do NOT worry about it! It is the LEAST of your problems!
  6. Well man I gotta leave it at home! Any more bass at college and I will be written up by the staff people. My RA is already unhappy with some of the songs I play at the volumes I do. I also want to know that these SWS's will perform as well as my main system sub does at college. Youd think, that for 2 6.5 inch drivers, that it wouldnt be able to reach what it does... Damn I love my system. I just dont want to miss out on this deal! 99 bucks man. I waited for it. Also, I highly doubt it will take two weeks to ship 2 SWS's.
  7. You dont think a sound card will help this thing at all? I am sorry I am killing you, but I have to test this thing out with something thats actually good. It all will arrive friday. I will have it up and running that same day. Then I can test it out... Aw goddamn it who am I kidding... Ok man how long would it take to ship 2 SWS's? I would need them at home because if I took them to college my friends would kill me. My 4.1's already upset people in the next wing because they can hear it, despite my thoughts of it not being strong enough... I go back to college the 4th of january. Time is of importance.
  8. Ebay does suck. Its a fact. I would reccomend going after a 5.1 sub to power the satellites. After all, when you have the chance to get a more powerful sub, why pass it up?
  9. Why not order over the net? Whats wrong? Afraid?
  10. Guys can you please type in complete sentences? I can barely understand some of you. Anyway, it sounds like a great investment. I love how loud my home theater sub is, but it doesnt like being loud at below 40Hz for some odd reason. My 4.1's go lower. I was surprised. If my new set up still doesnt make this thing shine, I might put some money in to add SWS's to my set up. I would buy the 5.1's, but my 4.1's are doing the job just fine. Just needs more bass...

  12. It doesnt look upsidedown to me. Besides that, it looks like the whole top of the dome rotates around anyway. Does it matter?
  13. ---------------- On 12/20/2003 8:30:10 PM 007 wrote: I would assume, I'll tell you when the stupid thing gets here. I'm going to test it with the 2's 4's and ultras. The monsters are on the klipsch site. I would not recommend them for the 5.1's unless you had some money to burn. However the 4.1's come with really crappy 22 gauge wires. I would HIGHLY recommend getting 4.1 monster cables. 50 bucks tho That goes for 2.1’s too. ---------------- I got 50 bucks. I dont have patience for anything that doesnt bring a noticable improvement.
  14. Whats this monster cable crap I keep hearing about? Better cables? Oh, and does the SWS play the song "get low" by "lil john" with authority? My 4.1's absolutely SING with that song...
  15. Yes. I want to know EXACTLY WHEN as well. Why is no one offering this info? Is it too much to ask? I might return my home theater sub for some SWS's...
  16. ---------------- On 12/19/2003 6:00:07 PM GooseChaser wrote: Oh my god, you bought a Sony WM500... That's a horrible subwoofer. For $200, return it and get two SWS. Unless you are going to put down ALL the money you originally stated into a real subwoofer, it would be very hard to find a subwoofer better than two SWS at $100 each. ---------------- OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO DIE! It sounds just fine to me. The only issue I have with it is it doesnt seem to do a couple of songs justice. Maybe its the sound card I have it hooked into. Who knows. I want to try it out on a better soundcard first. Maybe it will make a difference. If not, back it goes, and I will use that money for other upgrades.
  17. ---------------- On 12/19/2003 4:15:48 PM GooseChaser wrote: Exactly. I don't care if a subwoofer can hit 115dB at 30hz if I can hear a distortion at 90dB and up. That's how my RSW-12 was, it was defective. As far as I was concerned, I bought a $1200 subwoofer that hits 90dB at 30hz. What subwoofer did you get? ---------------- heheh, I was thinking for a second "How the hell did he know I bought a sub?" Then I read what I said above. Anyway, I got the Sony SAWM500. It was a 200 dollar home theater sub. I love how powerful it is. It absolutely shakes everything around it, but it doesnt carry the way I think it should. I hate to send it back, but I will if things dont improve when I upgrade the computer its hooked up to. In the lil john song, my promedia 4.1s make the lowest bass hit carry incredibly far. I cant really describe it, but you would be able to tell the difference if you heard both subs. Maybe its all because I have it hooked up to a computer. Not a good computer either. It has an old SB16 from creative. I am using the "line out" jack for the sub. It kills me to think it, but I am thinking of returning this, and getting some SWS's like I originally planned. I have all the time I need to fully evaluate things, so we'll see what the computer upgrade brings. A better sound card will be one thing. (I dont have 1200 bucks just for a subwoofer)
  18. ---------------- On 12/19/2003 1:32:58 PM GooseChaser wrote: What did you get that it hits 30hz less than a dual 6.5" multimedia subwoofer? The promedia 4.1 doesn't even hit 30hz with real authority. And not all subwoofer are made the same and some of them out there suuuuck. ---------------- Dude. I heard it myself. Try "get low" by "lil john". Granted I get some if not a lot of port noise when I do it, but my 4.1 sub plays it with dignity. It plays it so loud that I got complaints from the next wing. I guess I got the set of 4.1's that does it, because they do, and they play it loud. Hell, they can even accomplish a 20Hz test tone. Granted I cant hear it very well, and if I turn it up they act weird, but they can still do it. I value your opinion, but you cannot refute my experiences.

Would this or a triple SWS system be better? i have heard here that the SWS subs cant dig very low, or provide much of a punch at those frequencies below about 40hz. Also, do you have any reccomendations for a single sub that would be better than the triple SWS for under about 600 bucks? Thanks, Alex ---------------- If my 4.1's can hit a 30Hz note, and get complaints from the next wing at college, those things damn well BETTER dig that deep AND LOWER. I was actually surprised to learn that my home theater sub has problems reaching what my PROMEDIAS can reach. I might just return the sub and get a couple SWS's. It kills me to do that though. This home theater sub is so powerful... so loud...

The RW-8 does it 103 with 80 watts, so the sws with 100watts might do it at 105, just a guess I am gonna get 3 sws's when they come down in price ---------------- I dont think they will come down in price. God its tempting, but they are so expensive.
  21. So does everything bass wise actually get louder? Do low things like 30Hz get a hell of a lot louder? I might just take this over a home theater alternative.
  22. I was, and am, strongly considering that 3 for 2 deal right now an SWS's. If anyone has more than one of these subs, can you tell me how much it aids your bass? 400 bucks for three subs is a lot. Thats the whole 5.1 Ultra system right there. If you ask me, it should be 100 bucks per sub. That aside, please share with me what you think of multiple SWS's. Thanks in advance.
  23. So nobody knows. Maybe I should buy the Ultra 5.1's and buy custom speaker wire. That might just be easier, but a tad expensive.
