  1. No plans on a first movie....we will have to see what is available at the time. It will be a crazy time...wife is due with our second child about 2 weeks after the move.
  2. Sorry....dont know why the ceiling pic is sideways.
  3. Moving to a new house and will be going from a 3.1 to a 5.1 set up. This is a family room and not a dedicated theater. I have installed a pair of Klipsch CTD-3650-CII for my surrounds as it is an open concept living space. My current room is about 16x19 with 13' vaulted ceiling and generally open concept to the kitchen area. The new room will be about 17x16' with a 10' ceiling. It is a more open room than before. I will be using the gear in my signature. As a bonus I had wiring run for a set of outdoor speakers. For those I went with a set of Niles OS 5.5. I really wanted the Klipsch AW525 but I could not beat the price of the Niles ($127 shipped new). It should make for a very nice set up. It will be interesting if the SVS PB1000 will be enough subwoofer. I have been thinking about doing the SVS trade up program for a PB2000 maybe after the new year. I have also been tempted by the Denon X4100 which can be had at $799. I have wondered if the extra power would be noticeable. Anyway here is a couple pics of the install and room layout looking from the kitchen to the great room. Off to the left of the pic there is a dinning room than cannot be seen in the pic. I will have my 60'' Sharp mounted on the wall.
  4. What I notice is that the one pb1000 kind of falls off above moderate listening levels. So it seems dual pb1000 will have more output than a single pb2000. Is that correct?
  5. I should clarify that I do have the wireless kit offered by SVS right now. Just wondering if it is possible to run dual subs with duel wireless kits.
  6. I recently posted a couple months back when I was building a 3.1 system for my house. See my signature for the equipment I am using. We now have a new house being constructed. The living room will be about the same size BUT more of an open concept than I currently have. My current room volume is about 3900 cubic feet. The new home will have wood floors....I will have to get a rug or two put down. I have already picked up a set of Klipsch CDT-5650-CII for surrounds in the ceiling. My seating position will likely be closer than I currently is (about 12ft). I am either thinking a second SB1000 or a single SB2000. Thoughts? Also can I run dual wireless using the kit from SVS?
  7. Updated pics: It is final. RF62II fronts and RC62II center. Subwoofer is SVS PB1000. I also ended up removing my Monster Cable crimp on banana plugs as they felt like the wire was going to slip out every time I used them. I picked up a set of Sewerd locking banana plugs off Amazon for $17 for six pairs. WAY better than the Monster Cable for lots less money. I also updated my BR player. Should the sound be set to PCM or bitstream? I realized after running audyssey that I had the subwoofer trim bumped to +.05 db. Should I rerun it or does Audyssey ignore that setting when taking measurements?
  8. If you watch this one it can be had for about $350 as an open box. Just check in once or twice daily. Free ship and no tax. I know its streaching but it has been great for me with my RF-62's. Also you get a 3 year warranty..... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_033AVX2100/Denon-AVR-X2100W-IN-Command.html?tp=179 My local dealer uses this for demoing their Klipsch speakers. Yamaha open box for $315. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_022RXV477/Yamaha-RX-V477.html?cc=02&tp=179
  9. BONUS!!! I got a price match on the Denon. The AVRX-2100 took a price drop down to $399 @ Crutchfield! I got $140 back. I also made the sale on my RC-42....took a small loss on that. Ordering the RC-62II either today or tomorrow!
  10. Confidence restored......false alarm
  11. Scrappy, Thank You for the offer. I took a second look at my settings and it was set to Sat and not Last. Now all passes like it should. I jumped the gun and let my frustrations get ahead of me.
  12. Well I am loosing my confidence in Denon. It seems I have another HDMI issue with the replacement AVR. I do not seem to be getting any pass through function in the DVD, Game, or Blu-Ray inputs without having the AVR turned on. The Cable/Satelite was acting funny but after a software update that seems to be resolved. What was happening is if the AVR was turned off and I tried to watch my TV/Directv I would get no pass through. If I briefly powered up the AVR then turned it off It then would work. I am seriously thinking of returning the Denon and picking up a Onkyo TX-NR828 or Yamaha RXA-740.
  13. I have a Like new Klipsch RC-42II for sale. I purchased it to go with a pair of the RF-42II's but moved to a larger speaker. I had purchased it brand new and have used it for a week. I will ship in the original box. All paperwork is included. Absolutely no blemishes or problems. I will post pics when my camera battery is charged. PM me if interested. Color is black. $230 Shipped
  14. If I am not mistaken if you run a Toslink to a AVR or powered soundbar and turn off the tv speakers you will have to manually turn on and off the tv speakers through the tv menus. If you use ARC to provide sound through HDMI this will be done automatically. On a side note I did notice the Horn on the 62's is much bigger than the 42's. I am leaning towards the 62 center but was wondering if the 52's share the horn with the 62's or 42's?
  15. Just got the 62's hooked up. This is a very substantial speaker! I set up Audyssey and all went well. It selected 40hz as the crossover. Compared to the 42's these seem to make the sub location non detectable and the sound seems to blend much better. I can actually listen to Direct mode and it sounds great! I was using Pink Floyd dark side of the moon and Carlos Santana supernatural for reference music. I don't have to raise the subwoofer trim at all either. I have not tried a movie but can only imagine what that will do. I hope I have enough power for these. I will have to upgrade my center to a 52 or 62. Where I bought the center from they charge a restock of 15-30% so Ebay and on here it will be listed for sale. Unfortunatly one of the speakers grills was damaged and a blemish on the speaker from it. I will get a good one sent to me. On another note my Denon X2100 came in and all seems to work very well.
  16. First you need to know if your TV is ARC compatible. Second you need to be sure you have the HDMI cable plugged into a select input on the TV that may be designated for ARC. Check the TV manual if it mentions it. My AVR has two monitor inputs. I used the #1 input per owners manual. After all that you will probably have to mess with the menus on the TV to get sound to work properly. If my AVR is on I automatically get sound on the system. If I am just passing through video through the AVR I get sound on the TV without having to mess with TV menu settings. If you hook up a toslink to get sound you may have to mess with tv settings to switch sound from AVR to TV speakers. My HDMI cables actually say high speed on the plug. I have the "Amazon Basics High Speed" cables off Amazon. They are fairly cheap too. To the best of my knowledge High Speed is not necessary for ARC. High speed may be needed to get 1080p vs 1080i depending on cable length.
  17. Most people just use the monitor out HDMI on their AVR anyway. It's the only input any of my TV's or projectors have going into them, a single HDMI into the AVR's monitor out. AVR HDMI out (Monitor) ----> TV HDMI Input. I did just what you said. I was not getting any sound at all. I have one HDMI (monitor 1 out) hooked up to my HDMI / ARC input on my tv. I also have two HDMI's from the Blu-Ray and Directv to the AVR. Anyway, I got my manuals out last night and it was a setting in the TV menu I overlooked. The TV menus/settings are a pain to set up. I got it fixed and now get Netflix (TV sound) through the AVR. The replacement AVR will be in today as will the RF62's. I will rerun the Audyssey with the 42's and listen. I adjusted the xover to 80hz while Audyssey suggested 100hz. When trying to listen to the RF42 vs 62's without the aid of a sub do I just set the AVR (Denon 2100) to direct mode? I believe I have direct and pure direct mode. Can someone explain MultiEQxt? I see settings such as Flat and Reference in the AVR menu.
  18. Just checked my hdmi cables. All except 1 is high speed. I will upgrade that to another Amazon high speed hdmi. It seems like my picture is better running through the denon also.
  19. I actually had a faulty blu ray hdmi input. I would loose all video and sound. I tried a different hdmi cable and would get the same problem. I plug in directv in that same input and get no problem. Very weird! Crutchfield has a new one on the way. I just hooked the blu Ray in the Dvd input for the time being and all is well.
  20. I am going today to verify my HDMI cables are "high speed" type. From what I understand this is what is needed to get 1080p. I also think I will need a toslink to get the sound that is on my tv to play through the receiver. I cannot seem to get ARC to work. Not sure if there is a button to push on the Denon to get it to play. I did place an order for the RF 62's yesterday. I will demo them on Wednesday. Return shipping is only $10 to send back the 42's or 62's. I will sort the center channel after I finalize the floor standing ones. I watched my first movie last night (MI). Wow! what an amazing set up! Cant wait for surround speakers. The sub was fantastic also
  21. I saw that thread and agree with the Scrappydue's comment, though it sounds like you listened without a subwoofer. First, listen with a sub and see if it's improved. If not, those 62's would be a good thing. You had many questions involving placement with your mains and sub. Experimentation is the best way. Play with the distance from the back wall with your mains. With the sub, you can place it in your listening position then move around the room perimeter, down low where the sub would be and listen in different areas. Wherever it sounds the best to you is where the sub will sound its best at your listening position. I should have posted this in your other thread. I did listen to some music without the sub and with it. The 42's do sound great with the sub but I think I may want to try something that can also support its self with out a sub on music. I may get better transition from main speakers to sub. I did move the sub around but ended up leaving it somewhat hidden in the corner. I called crutchfield and have s set of RF 62's on the way. Which ever ones I decide to keep will only cost $10 return shipping. So basically a $10 home demo. Like I said before the 62's were only $200 more. We will see how big they are for the room. Wednesday they will be in.
  22. I many have to wait until fall / black Friday time frame. I may be putting out more money for a set of RF 62's
  23. That one with the projector was yours? That was a really clean looking set up!. I even showed the wife and she liked it!
  24. Scrappy, Good to know. Yes I would order the matching center. I will put some time on them tomorrow. When I say underwhelmed that would them standing alone without a subwoofer. What about my 6' distance from the wall. Too close or far away? Maybe it is my room size of 15x19 w/12' ceilings? Thoughts on my set up? I thought it strange looking at my audyssey setting seemed to set most my speakers - 6db. I guess the subwoofer @31 ft is because of the wireless?
