  1. With your stated budget I would probably get the Dual 16-46CS+ system with the Samson 1000w amp for $1599. This gets you extremely low extension and huge spl with plenty of headroom. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/svscsplus.htm
  2. I spend a lot of time on the www.hometheaterforum.com and there are a LOT of good things said about SVS subwoofers www.svsubwoofers.com/ .
  3. If you give us a little more info on what you already have, your final goal and your budget, I'm sure we could come up with some suggestions. Receiverwise (is that a word?) the outlaw is excellent. You should also consider Denon, Harman Kardon and Onkyo as they all have models in the same class as the outlaw. Check out www.hometheaterforum.com and look under the "hardware" section for A TON of answers to your question. Have fun researching (remember that this is the fun part), Tom This message has been edited by ttubbiola on 12-22-2001 at 10:54 AM
  4. If you haven't yet, do a search on www.hometheaterforum.com and you'll see more reviews and opinions than you can shake a stick at. I spent a week just reading and learning there before I bought my Denon 3802. I'm also thinking of getting an Outlaw for my bedroom system to go with my new RB-5s. 5. I just purchased a C7 on ubid for $279 brand new. I'm now waiting for it to arrive. You might check there for other auctions. Be careful to check who is selling the unit. Mine was sold by ubid directly so I have some recourse if it arrives damaged and it carries the full Klipsch warranty. Happy Hunting Tom
  6. I just won two auctions on uBid for Klipsch center channels, one for my main HT and one for the bedroom HT. I think I got good deals. KLF-C7 (black) for $279 KSC-C1 for $99 Both are brand new in box and include the full Klipsch warranty. I'm very happy right now. I just have to wait for them to ship. Tom
  7. I recently purchased a pair of RB-5s for my bedroom system. They, along with my TV, are mounted on the wall across from my bed. I'm thinking of getting the SC-1 and hanging it below my TV. Will the SC-1 be a good match? I would like to get the RC-3, but it is too heavy. Thanks, Tom
  8. Thanks Jeff, that's exactly what I needed to know. I guess it's time to buy.
  9. Thanks, I'll hold off hitting the "buy" button for another day. :-)
  10. Todd, thanks for the reply. My TV only has ONE video input. I want to hook up the playstation to the 5.1 digital input of the amp. I would also like to be able to listen to CDs and hear the playstation through the TVs internal speakers at times. Basically, I need to know if I can route video and audio through the receiver to the monitor outputs while listening to a different audio source. Tom
  11. I'm looking at the Denon 2802 as my next purchase, but I need to answer a question first. I knew the people here could help. Since my current Sony TV only has 1 external A/V input (RCA jacks) I am going to have to run my program sources through my receiver and use the monitor output to get video into the TV. I have a Satellite Receiver (Sony B-50), a VCR, a (by christmas) DVD Player (Sony NS700P) and a Playstation 2. My question is: Can I watch the Playstation and still listen to CDs at the same time? Also, does anyone have a coupon code for Crazy Eddie (or an opinion on their reliability as an online store)? Thanks for reading this far. . . and helping, Tom
  12. I'm just starting to upgrade my system after years of no change. I got a set of RB-5s last week and now will be buying a new changer, receiver (to replace my STR-AV1000) and DVD player. I'll be going with a Sony 400 disc Jukebox changer, I just have to choose which one. The reason for Sony is the Mac/PC control software available MAC www.titletrack.com and PC www.nirvis.com . Are the Sony ES changers worth the extra $300 specifically the CX450 vs M555ES? As for the receiver, I'm leaning towards the Denon model 1802 ($500 w/no shipping or sales tax this week at www.goodguys.com ). If the sony control software also controls a receiver, then I might go with Sony for that as well. DVD player will probably be the Sony NS700P. If anyone has any thoughts, opinions, suggestions, etc. on my plan I would love to hear them. Thanks for your input, Tom This message has been edited by ttubbiola on 11-13-2001 at 03:48 AM
  13. It looks like I'll be ordering the Mac version of the Jukebox controller software. Now I have to choose which changer. Are the Sony ES changers worth the extra $300 the CX450 vs M555ES? I'm just starting to upgrade my system after years of no change. I got a set of RB-5s last week and now will be buying a new changer and receiver to replace my STR-AV 1000. Any suggestions (money is definitely an object)? Thanks, Tom
  14. Be sure to use the speaker outputs and NOT the Digital Audio out as this could cause trouble.
  15. In my quest to make space in my cramped office I was wondering if I could hook up say a Sony 300 Disc changer to the 4.1s and use them as a regular stereo without my computer. If so, is there an easy way to switch between inputs? Thanks, Tom
  16. Thanks for the info. I did some research on Creative's and Apple's sites and learned a bit about audio connectivity. I'm not really into games and just want the 4.1s for music playback. How directional are the 4.1s? I'm thinking of one on each end of my desk and the others mounted high on my wall in the corners of the room to enlarge the overall sound. Edited to add that I'm running a G4 450DP tower if that makes a dfference in your advice/opinions. Thanks, Tom This message has been edited by ttubbiola on 10-03-2001 at 12:56 AM
  17. Do the 4.1s use the digital output from the Soundblaster Live?
