  1. I'm using a notebook computer and a Sony STR-DE995 rec/Amp, then to the KG5.5's... Thanks for the tip! Bob
  2. The digital stream comes out my KG5.5's very "bright"...is there a way to incorporate [8]tubes[8]? Thank you, Bob
  3. Thoughts on stacking two Quartets to form the center between Forte II mains? Thanks for input, Bob
  4. Dennie, thanks for the reply...I just now agreed to buy the F IIs for $450, delivered tonight to within 20 miles of where I am. One of the final questions I had for the seller was to ask about the condition of the passive radiators...he said that the radiator in one speaker had incurred a 1/2" hole somehow last summer. He said both speakers were taken to a stereo shop, and the shop recovered (replaced? I'm not sure...) both passive radiators (for $70.) Do you (anyone) have any suggestions on what I should be concerned about re the passives? All comments are appreciated, Bob
  5. I'm using the KGs as mains, and have a chance to have a pair of IIs delivered to a location nearby for me to pick up. Do you think the time and effort to replace my present setup would be worth the trouble? Your comments on this will be much appreciated, as I need to decide ASAP. Thank you, Bob
  6. ...after receiving helpful comments from Frzninvt, wuzzzer, ivanhurd, & mustang guy...other components included a Sony STR-DE995 Receiver/Amp, Sony DVP-NC655P AV player, JBL "Power bass" PB10. The 5.5's sound great, and the amp works (I'm using a small DVD player I already had to test with)...the other components are being hooked up today. Will use the KG 1.5's I already had as rears for now. Am very happy with the Sound/$ outcome! Thanks for the suggestions, it helped me settle on these components instead of the smaller speakers I originally had in mind!
  7. ...using two KG 2.5's as mains, two KG 1.5's as rears, and a SW-112 Sub. What is the difference between the 2.2v and the 2.5v? I am planning on (later) adding two KG 5.5's (or other large KG speakers) as mains, and then move the 2.5's for a 7.1 setup. I will appreciate your comments!
  8. KG 2.2v as center between 2 - KG 2.5's as mains and 2 - KG 1.5's as rears for a 5.1 setup. Do you feel the SW-112 will be a good match, and do you feel it will be adequate in a (later) 7.1 setup using KG 5.5's as mains? The room is 16 x 26, with 9' ceilings; planning to put the speaker/TV setup against the long wall. I will appreciate your input!
  9. ...and plan to use my 2 KG 1.5's as rears in a 5.1 setup. This setup will also include a Klipsch SW-112 Subwoofer. This would be an initial configuration. My thinking is that later get bigger mains (2 - KG 5.5's?) and then use the 2.5's elsewhere in a (final?) 7.1 setup. Will appreciate also any input on what will be a a good amp for music and movies, and will also good for the later 7.1 setup using the aforementioned speakers. Thank you in advance for your input!
  10. Per your suggestion, the long wall will be for placement. Your suggestion of 2.5's has me now trying to locate three of them, figuring they can always be used in the KG configuration in some manner. Thanks for the feedback!
  11. Thank you for the great suggestion...I was just about to pull the trigger on the SW12-ii, but changed my mind now that I've looked into the SW-1XX line, per your suggestion. The prices relative to the specs seem VERY reasonable. Thanks again, Bob
  12. I.) I am planning of assembling my first Klipsch system (in a 16 x 26 foot room & seating will be about 1/2 way back from the front speaker/TV wall). I am in presently in touch with a seller of a powered subwoofer, a SW12-ii...he is firm at $400...he states "purchased it new, has no problems." Is this a fair price? Any caveats? Which series of Klipsch KG speakers would you consider to be the minimum to coordinate with this sub? II.) So far, all I've picked up are 2 KG 1.5s from the local Habitat for Humanity thrift for $70, so if they won't fit in the KG setup, I won't be out much cash. Is there a Klipsch sub that might be a better choice than the SW12-II in the $400-500. price range for my KG setup? All comments/help will be greatly appreciated! Bob
