  1. I think I'm more excited about the deal I got rather than the tv.
  2. Just for size reference, I put the 50" Toshiba it replaced to the left. Originally sold for $8k, but I scored the last one in Tweeter's mid-atlantic region for $2500.
  3. What I have here is a new Philips Pronto TSU3000 that I won through a promotion at work. It does not have the box but it includes all paperwork and original accessories. It has never been powered up and still has an untouched virgin screen. I've bought and sold here before with no problem, you can also check my ebay feedback here. Asking $200 shipped via priority mail CLICK FOR LARGER PICTURE
  4. Those KLF-30's are pretty dynamic and can reach high volumes without breaking a sweat. If you want to stay under the $400 mark the best you'll get is a Hsu VTF-2. If you want to save a little more a proper sub to match that caliber speaker would be something from the "Plus" line of SVS. How large is the room? Have you considered building a sub? If you have basic carpentry skills and a few tools, there are plans online that you can follow and you can easily get the sub you need under $400.
  5. Just want to see if I can get lucky and check if someone happens to have an extra remote that comes with the RX-V1000, the model is RAV222. If you happen to know of a place where I can get one cheap I would appreciate a link. fabulousfrankie@hotmail.com
  6. You can see some objective data on Def Tech, Klipsch, and SVS subs here. I've not been too impressed with the Def Tech Supercube I & II: http://members.cox.net/frankcarter/Tom%20Nousaine%20Sub%20Data.htm
  7. The Parts Express/Dayton sub is the best you'll find. It'll give good extension to ~30Hz without any peaks in it's response. It's actually quite clean but you're not going to get bone jarring output.

Perhaps something than you can plug in numbers that correlate to your dimensions, in my case one with an alcove that can't be closed off. I have a disc with test tones that go all the way down to 20Hz, but they're in 10hz increments, so I'm wondering if I'll be missing things in between. I'm planning on getting a Behringer Feedback Destroyer, so it would be nice to have some figures to try out that I may not be able to test with the tones that I have. ---------------- There's the RRC program you can download for free. I tried it many different times but it never came close to my measured response. I guess there's too many variables to consider.

  10. A lame excuse for a post but I just reached my 1000th post .
  11. I completely agree that these are the best sounding small sat's available(at least that I've heard). I picked up a couple of the RSX-5's for the computer on an impluse but they've just been sitting in the closet because I have no sub or amp yet. Right now I'm using a PM2.1's but I'm not sure whether it's a smart move use the Promedia's amp section to power the RSX-5's because I don't know the impedance of the 2.1 sat's.

TheEAR owns it along with his other Sunfire subs. Here's some good info on it: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_9_1/carver-knight-shadow-subwoofer-3-2002.html

It is generally terrific, but "Slave Song" has the most amazing bass I've heard on a music CD, DVD, or audio DVD. Maybe I'm just not listening to the right stuff otherwise. The SVS was set on 25Hz, and could have listened to that one cut all night. ---------------- Nothing wrong with that, I love Sade's music.
  14. I highly recommend the Velodyne's VX-10, it can be found around $150 online. I've been playing with it lately and I would not hesitate to say I haven't found anything better under $300. I've also played around with the orignal Dayton 10" from www.partsexpress.com and I was thoroughly impressed with that as well, it came close to the entry level Velo's performance and it was only around $100. The new Dayton model has a bit larger enclosure and slightly more powerful amp so it's fair guess to say the low end should be slightly improved. The new Dayton model costs $130.
  15. Good to see you here Steve, welcome aboard. I got to go now, leaving for sales training in PA(3 hours away).
  16. Thanks everyone. I'm working at the Manassas store. Right now I have my eye on the RX-V1400 to use as a pre/pro in my system.
  17. Well the bills need to be paid and Tweeter was hiring. Too bad they stopped carring Klipsch because the discount isnt' bad at all. Because of this job I won't really be able to spend much time here any more. It's the most relaxed environment you can image...when the store's not busy the GM is playing PS2 with other sales guys...some sales guys are watching dvd's on the 72" screen with a Martin Logan based home theater...like I said, pretty relaxed. I have been thinking of seeing if the management would allow me to bring in other subs to compare to what they have in the store just for fun. I only have DIY subs over here but if I do it I might post something asking if anyone with something like an SVS or Hsu might want to come by and bring their sub along.
  18. Not big enough any more any more so that's why I'm selling. Asking $15 CLICK FOR LARGER PICTURE Holds 220 CD - 152 DVD - 60 VHS Dimensions: 26.5"H x 25.25"L x 7.25"W I'm in the DC area if you want to pick it up. You can see my ebay feedback.

However, it's disappointing to see how much(and how steeply) the Klipsch rolls off at 30 hz and below, and the meager overall sound pressure levels from 20-30 hz. I'd hate to see a similar chart of my RW-12. At any rate, I'd like to see a similar SPL chart for SVS' box subs, particularly the PB2 plus. I'm oriented towards performance metrics, rather than descriptives. 'Gee' and 'Wow' don't mean a hill of beans - if it can be heard, then it can be measured and quantified! If it can't, it's irrelevant. Regardless,I am curious how the RSW-15 gets 'low' compared to its single 'box' counterparts from SVS. ---------------- The subs were colocated so during the test so you can just subtract somewhere around 5-6dB across the board to get and accurate idea of what just a single cylinder would do. This an excellent review of of the PB2 Plus in various tuning/SS filter variations with good objective data over at hometheaterforum.com. If you want to search for it the guys user name is Edward J M.

Each week we get "cool newbies" on the board praising SVS this and that blah, blah, blah, is better in this situation at this cost basis. I get so sick of the BB thinking that Klipsch makes such a great full range speaker...(insert the word "but" here, as most sales people or people on the board do,) but can't make a great sub? BullSh*t. I would love to see a real challenge, perhaps let Klipsch test in the same way it also tests their subs, so we have the truth in data from each sub speaker. Is there anyone who lives near Indianapolis, Indiana willing to allow their sub to be tested..(would be cool just to see what the data really is anyhow.) (Klipsch, I am sure, might come up with a nice grab bag of goodies...T shirt or something I am sure for your time!) Maybe even Klipsch could buy a SVS sub and see and test it too? All I can say is I have rock solid clean lows from my own experience. Everyone who hears a movie just drops their jaw in awe so far. I have not heard the SVS, never seen it in a stereo store or even used...(I know it is mail / internet computer order only) but I get tired of hearing about it all the time on the Klipsch BB. I have not checked, but does SVS have a BB that sais Klipsch makes the best speakers and Klipsch subs are better than SVS.. I wonder? This free advertising of SVS gets old to those of us happy with our Subs and my wish is that Klipsch needs to prove it has an equal or better product up for the challenege. I have a feeling Klipsch is up for the challenge! ---------------- The RSW15 is a fantastic sub and is a formidable competitor to all but the super subs out there. No matter what though, there's no getting around the price/performance ratio of internet direct competitors like SVS/Hsu/Adire/and Stryke, so as long as there's an internet you'll probably still here about these subs. I think it would be great if an SVS(or owners of other popular subs) would lend their subs to Klipsch for testing. I would if I were around the area. Didn't Trey Canon post something like that asking for SVS owners in the area once? There is no SVS BB but TV stops by here every now and then. Did you know Tom Vodhanel uses Klipsch Legends in his home theater.

Nik ---------------- If you're using the low level inputs(if you're using an RCA cable instead of speaker wire) and your other main speakers are set to small then that means the crossover in your receiver is working and you should disable the crossover on the sub.
