  1. there's a gentleman in my area with a Velodyne ULD – 15 in perfect condition just had amp and driver replaced a couple years ago. He wants $300 for it and thought it might be a good sub in the interim till I get what I want. should I pull the trigger and put it out in the garage when I'm done with it ? or am my just being inpatient and wanting SOMETHING. Strke that, I know I'm being impatient and want something, question is, is that unit worth $300?
  2. I like a couple of the scenes in battleship, One of which is when the spheres come out of the ship and attack the airport and head to the baseball diamond and then to the highway. A few awesome scenes in Transformers dark of the moon as well. I'll usually Google every once in a while "top 10 Blu-ray audio scenes" and see what people are checking out. Usually you get the standards sometimes a new one thrown in here and there. I hate to bring it up again in a different thread, but that darn Dubstep music sounds pretty cool! I feel like an old man, "Those crazy kids and their Dubstep music"!
  3. how about a RF -103 with 3-10s or a reference series with a 10 , a 8 and a 6 inch driver. i'm sure there are mathematical, scientific and ethical reasons why neither of those are possible but I thought I would throw in my two cents.
  4. please take my last comment tongue-in-cheek my Klipsch brother.
  5. I think I was responding to the original question about my age, in my mind I was thinking the gentleman thought I was a huge fan of Dubstep. so I was saying I'm 44 , BUT this is generally not my specific taste. I don't know... I guess it was just bad grammar. I meant 44 AND a child of the 70s and 80s i guess what im saying is that "I'm 44 years old and normally more Mature you stinky butt poophead!!
  6. and glowsticks Ughhh..... and New Orleans My favorite dub mix line is...... boom....waba waba wabababa wabababa....boom!...waba waba wabababa wabababa wabababa wabababa....boom!...waba waba wabababa wabababa..... I bet you guys have heard this one too thanks Max, I remember that one, oh yes, I remember that one well! it made me reflect of a tumultuous time in my life, a time of years gone by.I shed a tear for it. Aaahhhh the magic of a good Lyric it can send you back cant it? :-)
  7. hello, my name is Timdog, and I'm a Dubstepaholic. okay, not really but it is cool to listen to sometimes. i'm 44 but I'm a child of the 70s/80s and my music tastes tend to focus around those eras, some newer stuff here and there but I'm a creature of habit. The last few weeks I just want to hear how everything sounds on the speakers so my taste of been all over the place I've always been a fan of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and the horns sound phenomenal on my new horns :-)
  8. this is probably not the right place to post this, but I have recently stumbled across this Genre. I don't know if it's considered dance music or house music or rave music but whatever it is, on my RF-7 ii it sounds freaking awesome! I thought black-eyed peas sound a good this music is incredible. I feel like I am demoing sound effects. some songs are better than others but it seems like every day these sevens sound better to me. i'm starting to see what people mean when they say the sevens will reveal bad recordings. another statement that rings true is the louder you turn them out the better they sound . I think I may have to give my ears a break for a couple nights after last night.
  9. I was playing black-eyed peas yesterday evening they sound awesome on the sevens, I accidentally hit answered while reading your text and marked it best answer ,not that I don't appreciate your answer but that was an accident.
  10. thank you sir, I'm extremely happy!
  11. thanks fuzzy dog, I went back there and felt the air a couple times seem to be moving a lot of air I will probably errr to the side of caution until I get my sub and not turn it up to loud on movies, with music, it's on like donkey Kong!
  12. my AVR only has crossover at 40 and 60 which should I pick?
  13. Great! i'll do that tonight when I get home. I was listening at -8 . I think I need to get an SPL and set my levels though.
  14. I can't be sure Youth I just know I freaked out and turned it down because I'll never be able to get another set of speakers like these. like I said I watched numerous other movies with no problems whatsoever and the bass sounded awesome throughout all of them. I was too scared to try to reproduce it :-)

  16. I watched the new Thor with no issues whatsoever and a couple other movies with no issues however I was watching Enders game and when the ship was taking off there was some ultra low LFE that I heard some minor clipping on and freaked me out. I turned them down immediately but have never heard another problem since then, I'm gun shy now.
  17. I forgot to add that with the addition of the external amp the fatiguing problem has disappeared. It could be that my ears are just accustomed to the horns now, not sure but whatever it is it sounds beautiful! :-)
  18. Well, I received my RF-7 ii HT a couple weeks ago. I originally thought I would wait to set them up for when I received my amp from Youthman(B&K 200.7) NOT!! I think after I had them unboxed that feeling left me in about 30 seconds!! (30 seconds may be generous) My first impression when I took them out of the boxes is that they are MUCH BIGGER than I even pictured. I was able to audition them in the local speaker store but in the big 15 foot ceiling room they didn't look as big. as I was hooking them up I sent a picture to my wife at work with my son standing next to one of them. I had a caption next to his pic saying "I'm a little scared to turn them on" BUT, I was just being coy, I COULDN'T WAIT to hear what I had in store for me. I started off with music and was a little hesitant to turn it up because my amp is only rated at 110 W and I'm doubting it really pushes that. Not to mention that I am without a sub since my former two subs are lacking with the new set up. I expected to be a little unimpressed because I know that myYamaha would make them sound brighter and that it was lacking in power, but the show must go on, After I listened to one or two songs only one word entered my brain, " HOLY SH**balls"!! I made the right choice! Using only the Yamaha it still sounded fantastic. I was hesitant about turning it up too much plus I could see the fatiguing complaint some have after listening to music for quite a while. I had a very busy weekend and really didn't get to listen a whole lot until I received my amp from Youth the next Tuesday. My amp arrived looking like a box out of Fort Knox! Youth really took a lot of time and care to send this thing to me properly to make sure no harm would come to it. I had the amp hooked up in no time at all after a trip back to work to get the power cord I forgot. The B& K made a world of difference as you can imagine. I could definitely hear the warmness that the amp brought to it after listening with only the Yamaha AVR. I also could hear the richness and fullness that it brought to the bass in movies and songs. Although I listen at pretty loud levels I'm still a little little hesitant until I get a subwoofer. The funny thing is the system sounds to to three times better than my last and my last system had to 12 inch subs. I cannot believe how much they are able to pressurize my room without a sub. however, I'm forever looking at every forum,CL and searchtempest for a new sub that I can use until I can afford to get the one I want in a few months. Well that's all I'm going to say for now as it was hard for me to pull myself away from the speakers at any free moment I have before after work. I knew I had to though because if it wasn't for the people on this forum and helpful hints they've given me and information I have gleaned. and phone calls to people during THEIR FREE TIME that they've given to help ME I would never have been able to set up the system to make it sound as awesome as it does right now! thanks everyone for your help, I'm looking forward to getting a sub and having another Pee in my pants moment I can report on!
  19. I'm fairly new myself but I know I have had my Yammy shut off with the blinking red light and it was because I tried to put too much power to my speakers and it didn't have anything left to give. someone else may be able to chime in. as far as banana plugs I know they're good for quick connect and disconnect but I don't know that there is a benefit for sound quality.
  20. I meant it would be dumb for him to give me 900 cash today for a unit i bought fro him 2 years ago for 1000 something. I'm SURE he'll make the stipulation that i have to buy new unit from him.
  21. Thats a mean looking Pioneer, just looked at the specs. If my buddy would give me cash for my Yammy i would be on it like blue bonnitt. Im pretty sure hes giving it to me on instore credit only, it would be dumb to do otherwise.
  22. Thanx derrickdj, I appreciate the info. My thinking was maybe I could set the crossover so that the sevens got more bass than the surrounds and center. I've always read though that 80 was a great starting point.
