  1. Heh. I appreciate that beeker. And if they're still here they're yours too.
I did a few things here and there and I do love the sound of music/ movies etc.
Funny how you run into people from the past. Just goes to show how fast life passes you by when
You're married with children lol. Thanks for all the memories beeker it was fun talking about the old days.
I'm almost ashamed to say I don't even have an after market head unit in my truck anymore.
But I can't wait til my kid turns 16 because he's gonna have the best system at school!!
But that day will come and I'll dig out the "old school" amps and show them what power is lol-
    Best of luck Beeker-

I really couldnt believe who i was on the phone with. You led the pace for car audio i would have to say throughout the world. then like you said married with a couple kids and still a lot of smiles left and to live through our kids. I would have never guessed who would of been on the other end of the line and if i could go under hypnosis and choose anybody in the county of vw it would be you. Everything in those days had you at the top. And evrybody saying nah that not how hubbles got it...at least once a week i heard that from somebody and i had the boombox size radio you did lol...I have a tape deck in my mitsubishi truck and 2 4" RShack speakers behind my seat lol. My 2010 chevy car is just a cd player. I will call soon regardless and pick these klfs up unless somebody does. Will talk soon. Bless You!

  2. I just cried..i hope or wish mine loves me that much..a cake like that you dont need luck..appears you have that magical kind of love! very nice!

I thought I gave the lady perfect detail and even sent her links and pics of my gear along with the info pages from Klipsch and Emotiva but she still messed it up a bit. Those are supposed to be RF-7 towers but oh well, the cake was very good from what I hear LOL. She could have done a better job but she got an A for effort.

  3. lolhahahahahahahaha

you look interesting there. iv never seen you on the weekends uncle boxx. your gonna start a trend.

to the op..between tv and stereo i always leave a couple left on at home if wife&i go to the store or out of the state. its also a good basis to deter theifs. Also just in case i keep a good acceptable back up radio or 2 in the closet in case my cat buddy wears my good radio out. I love my cat buddy

  4. Just grab a tube amp with a powered sub and a 300 disc carasel full of your favs press repeat sitback and enjoy my freind. It dont matter if you quit your job before or after cause the music never stops

NOT, I say again, NOT trying to start a fight here, this is a legit question...I'll start with a statement, then follow with a question...

to me, Stereo was great, until they came up with Quadrophonic...now I want to listen with 7.1, or more...

why should I listeN with only 2, or 2.1? or point me toward a thread(s)...

    Thank you

  5. I know the seller of these particular Klf 30's and he is a great audiophile set beyond many. I cannot begin to describe the lenths within the audio industry he has been. my quaterly/monthly budget for audio was hit friday of last week. Then my fiance bought a new $500 down comforter bedset so i am left to save back up if they are still for sale in my next monthly audio budget.

He is the original owner and knows the elite audiophiles of our area and throughout the 50states...well beyond myself. If you are looking for Klf30's as described in this thread then these are the pair you need. I back him 100% with his sale. And will own them if i get my needs tackled soon. My daughter also needs a new macbook for school as well.

  6. look at craigslist in muncie indiana and south bend indiana. if you find what your looking for cause i seen one let me know and i will help get it to you

  7. I can't really comment on the Acoustimass systems as I've never owned one or even heard one other than brief store demos. I will say that in my brief auditions I thought they sounded pretty good for what they are. That's about as far as I'll go on that subject, other than to say that all else being equal, small enclosure size, full range drivers and no crossover can be good things, sonically. Of course, all else is almost never equal. Hmm

As far as the 901's, I've always liked them. To me, they just sound more like live music. Of course, that can be good or bad, too. The best way I've found to put the 901 experience into perspective is this: If you think of the klipschorn as a front row speaker, the 901 would be a row 20 speaker. I'm sure most klipsch fans prefer the front row, but I generally like to be back a bit. I don't see it as a right or wrong argument, but more just a matter of preference. Besides, sometimes I like to move up closer to the front, too. Smile

Im not right with you but i will admit 901's get the job done in certain rooms. everybody has different styles of listening etc...A hi end audiophile freind of mine whos private studio is worth more than my home swears by the 901's in his completely large rock mortar living room over any speaker on the planet period. My favorite bose are 301's. I have owned 3 pair of 901's in many configurations. If somebody were to buy 901's and never read online forums im sure more people would actually keep them. One of my complaints is that in a theater setting with 1 open door in a townhouse i once owned..i could not get completely comfortable with the 901 sound. trying added preamps and or eq's. They need the proper setting to be acoustically sound to a formal ear, music as well as theater. Which is true for many speaker models, although 901's a bit more so

  8. I bought these new in 1995. Medium Oak finish. Numbers are matching.
I don't really use them much since the tuner lights went out and couldn't see what mode and etc.
That was 2006 or so when that happened. Also the children were little then and the
Wife forbade me from playing anything cuz I like theater sound a little loud.
So anyway here I am. It'll be a few years before I do a man cave so these are just
Collecting dust. I just had a great time listening to these today they are very exhilarating
To listen to! But I think :( I'm ready to let them go. So if anyone wants to make an
Offer that would be great. They are gorgeous to look at but upon close inspection
There are some flaws. My son scribbled something on one. Hard to see but there.
Wife had a candle wax melter on top of one so there's a red mark. Not bad but its there.
And oh man them 4 12" woofers bump nice even at low vol!
A scrape here. Chip there. If you closely on the bottom corner on the left side cabinet you will see
a big bump or corner smash where my father in law tried moving it. That dumb idiot. I can attest to the sound quality is just as good as the day
    I bought them.
Screw CL. I want these to go to someone who knows what these are, and
    Take great care of them.

I grew up in van wert. im in ft wayne now. phone number through pm maybe? thanks

  9. Hi Everyone. The speakers are consecutive numbers. I have corrected them in the original post.

No, the dog was sniffing - only in the picture for scale (for the uninitiated).

As you can tell, They are sitting on either side of that old TV for 26 years. They have not been attached or in use for the last 13 years. They have sat in that same room on either side of that old TV. We had to corner them to the TV because it was the only way to fit them in. Originally they were set up and fed by a good system. The family wants a new TV for that room and they want 5.1 sound so, Im in Toronto, the speakers are in Nashville, I never get to enjoy them so its time to send them on their journey. As another poster said, there are more photos in the Craigs list ad -

Woody, i want them. please respond by PM or e-mail

Good buy. Your a little closer. Im 3hrs from cincy in ft wayne indiana. if they dont work out for you please let me know. i will buy them from you

  10. Hi, everyone. I haven't been out here in a long time.

I have a Harman Kardon AVR-7300 which I got from Harman Kardon headquaters a few years back. They had repaired it and originally it worked just great.

I run outputs to a Sony amp and a Yamaha amp. The Sony amp feeds a pair of Klipsch Synergy bookshelf speakers and the Yamaha feeds a pair of Radio Shack speakers. I input a DVD player and a Roku to the amp. My speaker wires to the Cornwalls are thick Monster cables.

My problem is that my Cornwalls give a "bzzzzzz" when I turn on the AVR-7300. It's intermittent. I just turned the AVR-7300 and no bzzzzz. Then, after 5 seconds a soft bzzzz started. It will usually grow in intensity until it's annoying.

The bzzzzz doesn't come out of my Synergy's or the Radio Shackers (supported by two other amps).

How do I troubleshoot this setup? Take it all apart and start putting components back in? Can input devices cause the problem? Is it possible that the AVR-7300 is generating the bzzzzzzz?

I appreciate any comments and tips.

    Thank you!

    Mike Gallery

If your using rca to 1/4" cables(avr to amp)be sure your 1/4" as well as rcas are attached securely. I had an $80 pair of dual rca to dual1/4" cables that would not let the 1/4" end seat in the amp input without some compression ...the 1/4" cable(was running mono)would litterally fall out. I simply switched it with a cheap livewire rca to 1/4" and the hum was gone. I also see rcas that do not seat firmly and with a high performance network such as in the cw even a simple rca not seating firmly would create wire feedback. I have 100's of cheap radio shack and even nice braided rcas that need attention as well as $130 rcas cables that need attention time to time. Also the soldier inside the rcas can get jinxy which can be checked by(sometimes unscrewing)then/pulling the metal sheath back and you will see the soldiers. The best rcas around can fail and have us chasing our tails unfortunately. Supply and demand can weigh down on quality at times and the great hand made cables fail. I Like to build or rebuild my own when i have time. Normally when i see one has failed. This is also sometimes due to pulling cables hard or very tight.

  11. I installed all of my equipment in a bar at the back of my theater room. I have 3 Lascalas in the front along wit an IB sub. I am powering the IB sub with a Behringer EP4000 amp. The amp is right behind us and is really loud. The room is finished and there is no way to run new wires to the IB backroom.I would like to put the sub amp in the IB backroom. Do you guys think there would be any major drawbacks to put RCA connectors on one of the speaker cables currently running from the bar to the subs and feed my sub out on my reciever to the sub amp input?

Fans in pro amps are for tight enclosed racks. does your ep4000 get hot? iv been running pro amps at home for years and snipped the positive wire on more than i can count. not 1 has even broke a sweat. just make sure you have enough wire to pull it back together to soldier if you sell or use it in a closed road case in the future(there will be a good inch or 2 extra fan wire installed from factory. all without even taking the amp case apart). do some checking around online if you have doubts. no pro amps burning up anywhere in at home use w/out fan. now if the 4000 does get hot buy the quiet fan which is as easy fix as running cables as you are aquiring info about

  12. Found these pair of Cornwall and want to know if you think they worth the asking price?

If not then how much would you think is fair.

    http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/ele/3639576426.html

[Please visit the original post to access the poll]

Maybe. Before paying the asking price i would get an audition at all volume levels and make sure the proper components are inside the cabs. Being craigslist i would also offer him 650 and go from there....unless they are mint condition with manual, original cartons and consecutive serial numbers..in this scenario i would certainly offer 800 and hold there hoping he would take it.

In consideration if you are looking for black cornwalls then 1100 may not be bad

  13. I have not scrolled this far down til now. I will say you have a great start with the krell and cornwalls(imo they are fine right there). Im sure you have enjoyed this setup for a while now. I have freinds bi amping cornwalls atm, single tube and solid state power to others as well as straight from an avr and all the above are happy happy. I dont get online often although i will respond...have you made another step? If biamping a nice 25x2 tube dynaco on horns and krell on the 15's would be as sweet as honey gets no doubt. Have you made any new steps lately? im sure crites helped...ti diaphrams did you get from him? however you got them at the moment they will shine fine forever

  14. I feel your pain. specially when it comes to woofers. scenario like that would haunt me now from time to time. i guess at that age(me in 990) i was appreciating my realistic 8" woofers i built inclosures for. I learned as the woofer audio addiction pumped in my blood so soon after(now 20yrs later seems soon in hindsight) to only handle my prized $300+each woofers myself only. i had a freind wire up a dvc(expecting he had experience cause he acted like an able helper?) neg2pos other pos2neg that smelled like a rotten egg. he was descent&wealthy enough to buy a new one thankfully. At least you didnt hook it up wrong in a sense of distruction to learn a lesson. you were also im assuming working out of a book from the library as i was in my teens. nowadays knowledge is a fingertip away. gotta say killer science fair project! I recently came acrossed some kind of adire audio and remember the Tempest. If i remember correctly it was a very high end over the top woofer.

Did your friend not test the connection with a volt meter before placing power to it? I'm so surprised I didn't back then, but then again at that age, I didn't even own one. I suppose I could have borrowed one from my grandfather heh.

Since it was a 16 ohm load when I had mine hooked up wrong, I wonder how much power the amp was actually pushing to the woofer. I also did a science fair project in grade 8, that was labeled 'how does tuning affect the sound intensity of a speaker?' and in grade 8 was measuring the THD in three different amplifiers, all with the same "rated output" and did my results vs the manufacturer's claims. I won an award from radioshack from that. I'm not near as much into amplifiers as I am into speakers though.

So what are you building/built with those expensive woofers?

The volt meter would have been my fault. my freind hooked it up opposite polaritys inside the the dual 15" box. I had high white blood cell count when i carried it out and ran power to it...this was 20+yrs ago in 100degree heat. i should have left the box inside i was driving to the doctor and carried it out put it in my car strained to hook it up and left. the 15's each were hooked up to the first actual monoblcks i ever seen. all hooked up in a gta. i learned to do my own work or recheck. there were 2 soundstream spl 160's in the box. when the 1 blu i was devistaed. honestly one of the most terrible days of my life. i should of left the box sit and go thru it before their hotpot time. i considered it but thought good bass would help my medical condition. It hit 150 at a point.

  16. i'll try finding a new avatar

    I'm surprised it isn't

    beeker.jpg

I used the beeker avatar on 1'8nitro race forums and was perfect. i really hadnt considered it again. i appreciate your direction. much more appropriate. its my last name beeker lol

speaking of racing rc forums the most exclusive was rc tech and they rated the way ebay does i have i think 55 positives on there no negs and it shows what others have done and whoo your getting involved with before hand.

craigslist does have a tilt to the people that take JUNK and push it out defective for dollars. if somthings broke its parts, sell it as BROKE(does not WORK!) its total crap to sell junk cause that pushes others into the same practices to sell their junk.

I always keep a different amount of money in every pocket depending what im buying ya know. this is so they dont see a stack of $100's. always put the small bills out ther and appear to be broke and unclamp yer muffler and drive thru a puddle so your vette dont look too nice lol I will say several klipsch forum members i washed my car and given them some $100 cables to pay forward. I have given equipment away litterally AND it came back to me unbelievably. I enjoy bartering with people. most horse traders have nice stuff or a lot at least with somthing to trade. horse trading is addictive

  17. yeah i take him with me the hell with bullets get a big spider dude

lol haha i would freak too. the spiders kinda homage to where love of audio for me as a teen began with soundstream equipment. and the original tarantula amplifierin the 90's. i hate spiders unless wife or kids need 1 off their wall i cant stand alone with a spider they asually help me build up courage ya know. a freind of mine owned a once tame tarantula and with about 1 year of no holding it my buddy wouldnt hold it and siad tarantulas lose their tameness and should only be held at that point by a trained professional(I was helping him move and i had a drink in me and asked him to grab it) idk just thought its interesting. spiders suck. i'll try finding a new avatar

  18. I have met several members and some of them were on craigslist locally. Only 1 member i met at my house i have not seen his huge klipsch several generation collection unfortunately..although will if im up to it one day. I have drove hours buying tube and reel to reel equipment and ended up having dinner discussing some very nice vintage equipment to rare proptotype and demo for sales equipment. One of the most interesting 7 hour round cl trip deal i made happened to be a 20yr old young fellow who was running 2 mcintosh monoblocks each running an 8 sided ohm 5ft monitor with more speakers buit into them cabs than iv ever seen in perfect working order. In perfect fashion he played 3 tracks off his record player of hank williams junior at low volume.

I'm armed while doing local cl deals at wmart and also take my young lady companion who likes to ride along too. I have listened to 100's of sytems and bought what i thought i wanted to try and then sold what didnt work. Without direct contact with others nobody can hear everything. I have met celebritys through the years in my running around but now pushing 40 my legs cant take what they used to. I have literally heard a new system(freind or internet meeting) per day at times. even lately a few a week to be social. This past year i have bought every pair of klipsch i could find for sale from indy to michigan and then sold and trade what i didnt have room for(after a robbery and divorce a year ago my systems have came and gone and rebuilt and actually been a learning experience music wise).

Got to make rounds or we cant learn whats what. only thing i worry about is bait and switch deals pics show mint you pick up their destroyed so walk away. and then theives. so pictures, insurance, adt and a weapon. 400 watt crown tube amps are out there and so many pairs of klipsch heritage around.. get to know them and get a sense of the seller or buyer...use google. Iv sold 200 items on cl and bought about the same in the past year and only had 1 prob. had a reel to reel deck that all the tubes lit and belt was fine and had 2 hou repair so i lost $70 total off that. the rest were scores. I have walked away a few times as well. but were mostly on freindly terms as well

  19. I will say out of a few pair i'v owned and yes the series1 are clothe and series 5&6 are rubber the rest are foam(oem)...bose 901's push out one hell of a lot of air. Without the bose eq at high watts its a bit shocking to be honest at very high volume levels.Turn them around(which is identical to a bose 802 panarays pa speaker)and is what paul klipsch done with his less than 4 min approx. 3min 40sec audition with a pair of 901's and you will see air move out of them like no other until you test other speaker/air movement. Sound quality is average in their optimum set up in perfect corners but with a huge 200watt perch amp they are LOUD fart cans. I would take your heresys with a 12x12 tube amp and you will make him cry. carry a weapon to protect your gear

  20. I have to say i read your first post and then read through your thread and was cheering for the sw-112 all the way. No doubt my choice of your options as well as quality of a tunable subwoofer to most theater rooms. good luck!

  21. Amp no doubt. As long as your happy with the current processors your current avr has you will appreciate a new amp very much. At times i will put an amp in a spot even somthing that is huge on center and maybe have the gain down and it gets stuck(the amp)there cause it just sounds so damn good. The processor in your current receiver says it all. If you feel you can get better features then go new receiver. Amps can completely change these features for the good in most of my experiences. So your yamaha will become a preamp and run all the duties of sound. Power will be from the amp. Playing with amps is part of the fun
