  1. Yeah...I read this earlier as well. God will sort the trash out at the end of this journey. Best of luck to the garbage. I cannot read it again. Too many people in the world apparently if any are doing things like that!

  2.

Thanks... And all I did was clean clean clean...

Found out that metal polish works best on the old bake-light knobs. Plain Windex on the glass front and back, Ketchup on the green oxidization, brake fluid to remove the clearcoat on the brass, and finally a grey scotch pad to brush the brass finish to look factory. They only thing I should do is put some black paint in the bottom lettering indentations, and re-clearcoat the faceplate. I will eventually do that.

I have also done the internals, and replaced many tubes. The receiver sounds great.

You may get a vistor some time Craig. My fiancé has a grandma and grandpa(they are separated and remarried) both in WV and as they age im gonna be sure she gets around them both as much as possible.

Id love to hear your lascala setup. Its the system I admired most while lurking before joining the forum as iv told you before. Anyhow...if its possible and your able a demo would be sweet(someday, if okay with you. we did get a visit in with both her grandfolks in the past couple months). You have an audio store close to you as well from what I gather...And your getting this tube thing down pretty good. That is one crazy sweet find you got there

Sure, any time. Where in WV are they?

Wow...I cannot think of the towns. 1 town is very small and the other has grocery and banks and all...They both live about an hour from each other. The grandmother is about 45 minutes from pittsburg and kind of close to wv...when going there you drive through wv for about 15 minutes and the other is in the hills a bit tucked away although just outside of a town. I'll get the addresses out and get back to check how close you may be. They are both doing real good at the age 80&82. The only issue I had was allergies in wv this summer. The church her grandmother goes to(opens and closes basically, my fiances dad is 2nd chaplin in the military so quite a bit of religion going on. he's a kernel as well and very busy all over the globe so we are keeping in touch with them both quite a bit) is not air conditioned and we recently spent quite a bit of time there helping locals back in june and the allergies very aggressive.

I seen you mention you own property. they both have very nice places. her grandfather just sold over 100acres of nice land just off of his original homestead. He's tucked back on a hilly road called balboa rd...only 2 homes back there or actually 3 but he has 2 with the one vacant...once he aged he put a small double wide on his land and it does him better than a house. They both still buy new vehicles every year and driving...very active for older people...her mothers side has good genetics as well lol they are still married and have a huge farm in midland Michigan and farm every day(sort of lol all the tractors, 2 I think but hige are in one of 2 big barns and they only farm corn so they have it made pretty nice)

Anyhow i'll get the addresses down and find your area sometime. May be spring yet again we may make a trip this fall or winter possibly. I love it around WV...Its not quite far enough south where everybody is super nice but is a great area with absolutely charming personalities everywhere. Life seems so simple in West Virginia. Im not so keen on the fracking going on in some areas although the people are wonderful. We have actually considered moving there. If either of them get ill I will likely make effort to get closer at least. It would be neat to meet up sometime though if convenient for you....when we go you cross my mind ya know.

  3. The link reads $2450 now. Maybe I missed it but im pretty sure it read $2400 before. If he did raise the price up its the same as the guy I know locally lol Id make a solid offer and the guy marks the price up higher lol(im really laughing...what a joke lol) Oh and this local seller would never counter offer...its his way or the highway lol he has so much stuff its crazy. Theres quite a few peeps that sell like this haha(I gotta laugh)

The guy locally im talking about has a couple good hookups with getting good used gear cheap nationwide(the main one is goodwill.com and his wife works for them so he has a direct line to gear everywhere, cheap shipping too. till he let me in on his secret I thought he was a fence). I know 2 other guys(both good friends of mine) who are successful and have nice audio gear and collect audio being serious buyers with descent income coming in. They have both told a story sounding the same how they near physically altercated with the guy...the guy(seller locally) got real cocky in front of my one buddys kids...the seller locally im talking about is about 75-80yrs old...

I chalk these khorns up to a shallow mental capacity possibly lol sellers gotta get real these days...

Man Zues...if your looking for some khorns for about $1200 im sure it'll happen sometime soon...

Theres an 80's khorn pair sorta close to me now all beat up for $1k (way too much $ as well) there are others around....

jweber or opusk will find some!

  4. OK

I talked to him and he said he put in Crites crossovers. I will offer him 1200 and see where it goes.

Im not real good with Khorn prices but have seen enough to know for a fact that is a good strong offer. Meaning imo he should take it(if he'd come down to earth)...Regardless what khorns they are they are gonna sit for some time (likely a long time) til sold.

Good luck. I hate craigslist sellers that wont haggle. I have a guy in ft wayne that has several pieces I want and if I offer $10 less he marks the price up...

ANYHOW, you should have a pair of khorns soon! I hope the guy comes around...imo they are worth about $1500 plus a little at least....although would like to hear them before purchase obviously...

  5. congratulations Youthman! I know this has been 1 long time coming(not that long but long enough)...that's an absolutely wonderful birthday present right before you reach the hill and get over it...tho they do say the new hill is at like 50yrs old. Cheers!

Id love to hear it! I bet its crazy good!

Nfl football never seizes to amaze with the adversity from one season to the next...

EDIT: Oh yeah! Bengals and the field goal!(thank god for that option, but they did have a 1 sweet fobbled touchdown ha)! I hope all you got whats his name shane graham lol you'll be on it...They should pay him 15mil lol

Last week lightening struck through the window and hit my 14 month old tv, bdp, processor and eq($1500+ loss)...

Geez! I have never heard of that!

I'm glad you're OK.  Were you home when this happened?  That would scare the crap out of you!

Lightning hit the metal flashing around the chimney in my old house.  Yes, we were home.  It sounded like a grenade going off in the attic.  My wife swears she saw it go down the hallway.  Somehow or another, it got into the cable, phone and electrical lines.  Took out a bunch of electronics and blew a hole about a foot across in out roof.  There were shingles scattered all over our back yard.

Wow! Hmmmm....Now im getting nervous again lol(not really funny but I gotta try to keep at least a smile about this deal)

We're getting out of this hog hole we live in next march I cant wait....I didn't know/realize my fiancé was starting another year lease when she did. Locations for work and accesability(gm plant right down the road, if you have a gm truck it came out of my bk yard, if its Toyota im pretty close as well)We went month to month from jan-march this year...the place I live now is the lowest in standards iv ever lived in my life. Some kinda quad duplex craphole lol its clean and cheap but my list of complaints is a page long. The only reason we're here now is cause its a rental and I don't have to do anything myself. Owe yea and the big one...I can play music and party 24/7 lol(not really but we can play music very loud...regardless its low standards. No bugs or mold lol but its a bit cheap

gotta mention iv had a couple mortgages, not my sack lol too much to take care of. my folks own the home my great grandfather and the 1 my granpa built so some day i'll have to deal with them places unless my sister wants them. whatever...lightening sucks(or strikes) and I hope it don't strike here again

man. I miss posts quite a bit...

Thanks everyone, nobody hurt. just lost money that was never meant to be spent...a tv should last at least 3 years these days id figure.

Nobody hurt but it blows my mind how it happened. We were home...it was about 3am on fri morn 2 weeks ago now...and yeah pretty loud

Theres a nice new sliding door to a porch behind the tv...The lightening hit a big lightpole ouback went through patio furniture(lol??)struck through the blinds onto and through the tv to a stack of gear to the left of it stopping on an older crown amp apparently..everything was attached to a beginner monster conditioner id call it..the monster av750. Quite a bit of other gear under it including the crown amp was on a good old furman conditioner...

Idk..im not so sold on any conditioner in this situation. if lightening hits it the thing aint gonna work. The tv did smell burnt up...now my fiancé hollars if theres heat lightening or anything now. im just gonna chill ya know...it stormed last night and lightening was hitting quite a bit out back...I have some things I may use as shields. I really don't want to burn another tv up. I hate the store. even if things are free I don't want nothing to do with the store. guess I better put some substantial plastic behind there to shield from lightening.

    Any ideas holler?

  10. Ton of great info on this thread. Iv ran near every style and or variance heresy made in only the past several years alone extensively. Down to earth economically the best way to get a pair of h3 to go solo with no sub is to use a processor. A cheap old eq will create bass but does over extend the highs a bit but can be adjusted with the knobs...The next option is good tube amps in my opinion and even solid state can tackle the feat...It all depends what you listen to and what your preference in sound reproduction is...The eq will do the job very well in my experience so iv normally went just there....I love any kind of heresy without sub on a processor. Pairing heresy with a sub in my opinion is more difficult than many go through to tailor the sound the way I prefer and in many times the way material should sound. Heresy imo sound best electronically processed with no sub in analog stereo. As mentioned a simple eq does very well to provide material listening as it was meant to sound.

An overemphasized custom network also provides wealth in heresy sound yet again not so economical

Next step would be a cornwall. Regardless tailoring the sound of any speaker to your soul can take some time imo...trial and error

  11. He still has a lot of fans in Indy. There's a children's hospital here with his name on it, he comes here quite a bit, especially for charity events. Payton, Eli, and their Dad donated 20 million for this hospital. The whole family is a class act.

The guy really is. These days the finest on any field, Peyton at least and imo Eli too...great family morals instilled. It really pisses me off to hear anybody bad mouth them in any way.

Iv been to that children's hospital a few times with a couple friends kids. Such a Blessed place

  12. You can sometimes find deals on a website Vacation Rentals By Owner. And ... the rates are often better when you get away from the ski resorts off of I-70

thanks for the lead. seems like I seen that site and never looked at it avoiding all the other spam sites. its great to meet up with friends or family from all over the place for a week or whatever in these rentals. once its said and done breaks down pretty good with all individuals etc pitching in their share unless somebodies pulling in some big stock shares or what have you and pays the tab.

just my fiancé and I the past year its been fair in price but in the peak seasons its not near what it use to be...not long ago you could get the bomb chalet for $80 per night plus $20 per adult couple kids free...now its a flat $4-600+ and even up over $1k+ per night even for just a couple lol guess ya gotta pay somebodies bills. It wasn't even 10 years ago it was $100 tops per night for a couple...nice to have good leads. cheers

  13. grab the cheap meter from parts express and let us know. That would be interesting...I'l try to take a meter into my local store and see what I can get them up to lol

Yours being custom would likely show some slight differences in spl maybe higher or lower...

I imagine they could get up to about 114db with a little distortion indoors from about 5ft away

  14. Sweet place! killer vacation and you could smoke anything ha :) .

These kinds of properties have skyrocketed in rental price unless you know somebody or have a long standing deal with a company etc...

Going into the smokey mountains in rental chalets(nothing quite the level you went there although very close) 7 years ago was economical its near went up 300% in price in the past approx. 7yrs...and theres so many more than in the 80's and 90's...there everywhere...

Still if somebody works on getting a rental these days they can find one with all the goodies for a descent deal...

Been some years since I tried one in the big mountains. Sweet trip nice pics!

That jd honeys good...i'l have to take a try on that wild turkey honey hmm

  15. Haha.  Not sure about that.  I slept pretty good even before I had a HT.

Ah ha...so when you built the ht you were so exited you couldn't sleep. I believe we're about the same age...I figure in time the excitement will calm down a bit :P

1 thing I know is I sleep content with the setup and gear I have

  16. I struggled to sell my RF-5 for $425.

rf5 can still be bought new for about $1k.

Where can you buy RF-5's new?

LOL locally last I knew classic stereo had the rf5's in stock room...

Its been about a year since I was in there(fiancé says I piss them off) but they had them

Comparing the rf5 to new paradigm of the same size I see them they are pretty close in sound. Honestly though id have to pass on anything new.

I just sold some paradigm speakers id been hording for a while yesterday. I did pretty good but lost about 40% what I had in everything. All like new in box. Glad its gone though. Really didn't see any reason to put them in storage or keeping. Vintage stuff or pro gear just does so well reproducing sound
