  1. Can any of you guys who have KLF30s recommend a HT receiver that is well matched to them and offers plenty of bass management options? My receiver, which is not the top of the Yamaha line, does not offer much in terms of bass management and music lacks the kind of bass punch that I know my speakers are capable of producing! The horns are so much louder than the woofers, and guys, two twelve inch woofers should be able to hold their own! I want to get the best out of my speakers with both music and movies and I dont think my receiver is up to the task. Thanks in advance for your input! My System: KLF-30s mains KLF-C7 center JBL 4312As surrounds SVS 20-39PC Plus subwoofer Yamaha HTR 5250 HT receiver Toshiba 56H80 16:9 HD ready
  2. Reference my post of 4/28 that calls for more bass from my KLF30s. I verified that the polarity is correct on both speakers and moved the one closest to the wall out a bit, which I think helped. Then I switched the bass out to mains to verify that they are producing bass. The speakers do put out bass, but not as powerfully as they should, which leads me to suspect that i need greater bass management options in my system. Should I start with my receiver? It is powerful enough at 100 watts per channel but is very limited in terms of bass management. Any suggestions for a good HT receiver that has such options? Both music and HT are very important and I dont want to give one up for the other! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions...it is a relief to know that the speakers are producing bass...I just need to kick it up A LOT!

  4. Thanks for your response! I will check into the equipment you recommended. I also intend to verify that my system is correctly calibrated.
  5. Thanks for your response! I will check the polarity as you suggested.
  6. My KLF30s are not equal distances from the wall behind them...one is approximately 24" and the other is less than 12" from the wall. This arrangement allows the fullest use of the available space in my den.
  7. Can anybody tell me how to get the best bass performance from my KLF30s for both music and HT? They should be capable of punching my eardrums out, yet i hear virtually no bass! This is very distressing. I have all of my speakers set to large and the bass is set to go to both the mains and the sub. My HT receiver lacks a bass extension switch but I have the bass dialed all the way up. Because of the layout of my den, I cannot get them both close to the wall (one is closer than the other). My listening position is centered about 10 feet in front of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 8. Thanks very much for your suggestions. I believe that the Klipsch speakers definately overpower the rest of my system at this time, and that this is the main issue. The room is much "brighter" now too, but trying some of your suggestions lead me to believe that this is not the problem that I first suspected it was. I appreciate having learned a thing or two in the course of trying to solve this problem. Setting all of the speakers to small resulted in a huge increase in the base and it sounded really muddy. Playing with several more of the setup options on my HT receiver yielded what seems to be the best settings for now: I left all of the speakers set on large and attenuated the main speakers by setting the main level to -10dB. This, along with a sound level adjustment of all speakers helped a lot. The base is there again, but still muddy sounding compared to the very bright and clear Klipsch. I am now thinking that a subwoofer upgrade is on the horizon. I want tight base; a good clear punch, not mud. I think this would compliment my system best at this time. Thanks again for your help!
  9. I recently stole a pair of KLF30's and matching center channel speaker on UBID. At first, I didn't think that I would need to replace my Infinity sub. That changed however, when I changed the flooring in my den from carpet to hardwood. Where did the base go? I have my downfiring sub fairly close to the wall and even placed a thick towel underneath it to simulate carpeting. Of course, the sub output is at maximum on my HT receiver. Do I need to upgrade to something more powerful like, for example, the KSW15 to get my deep rumbling base back, or would I experience the same problem with it? Thanks to you guys for your input-any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I really miss my deep base!
  10. thanks so much...i will give it a try!
  11. Does anybody know where I can get a C7 Center channed speaker? My kids have blown mine up! Please please help!
  12. Anybody know where I can get another KLF-C7? My kids have blown mine up. Please please help. Black matches my mains.
  13. Thanks Steve! Already snagged one! Any advice on the other speakers which are recommended by Klipsch to go with the 30's and C7? The owners manual recommends KSP-S6's for surrounds and the KSW-300 sub. The many interesting and informative posts on this site have left me wondering if a sub will indeed be needed! Also, I am considering moving my JBL 4312As to surround. All input is highly valued! My first upgrade I feel, should probably be the home theater receiver. Agree?
  14. It takes time to acquire equipment of this caliber. I first lusted after a set of Klipsch Tangent floorstanders...that was 13yrs ago. Could not part with the bucks then. Settled for a pair of JBL 4312A Control Monitors which I have run as my mains ever since. Added a piece here and there until I had a 5.1 HT system. Have read many posts on this site in the past few months comparing the KLF-30s with the new RF's and felt that the three-way speakers would best satisfy my taste. Still not aggressively searching for a pair though...getting scarce as they are no longer manufactured, and very pricy WHEN you can find 'em. CANNOT BELIEVE my good fortune at learning from a post on this site that ubid is selling the KLF-30s "for about a grand per pair, delivered"! THANK YOU FLASON!! Checked it out and stole a pair!!! Received ONE speaker yesterday and the other is scheduled for delivery today. Until now, I had never seen the speaker in person...AMG it is HUGE...CANNOT WAIT until the other speaker comes today! This is the beginning of the HT/music system I have always wanted! Thanks to all enthusiasts who freely share their knowledge/experience here...it is invaluable, as you already know! Of course, I will be upgrading my receiver, etc as soon as possible, but for now, this is the setup: KLF-30s main KSC-C1 center(will be overpowered by the 30's I'm sure) JBL 4312As to surround Infinity BU-120 sub Yamaha HTR 5250 Toshiba 56H80 16:9 HD ready
  15. HI GUYS! I apologize in advance for this total newbie question! Just received my KLF-30S. Which set of input terminals ("HF" OR "LF") should I use to connect to my 5.1 home theater amp(straight connection, not bi-wiring or bi-amping) This simple connection is not addressed in the owners manual. Thanks. This message has been edited by klipschlover on 08-14-2002 at 08:19 AM
  16. Hi guys. Is the Monster wiring the sole difference between the RF-3/RF-3II, RS-3/RS-3II, RC-3/RC-3II? And, has anyone had the chance to A/B the "II"'s and non-"II"'s?
  17. Am planning to upgrade home theater setup, starting with the R/L front channel speakers. Between the RB-5's, RF-3II's and Heresy II's, which speakers would be best suited for this purpose? Of course, listening to music is at least equally as important as using them in my home theater system. Already own KSC-C1 center channel speaker (my only Klipcsh so far!) Will upgrade surround speakers next as budget allows. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and opinion This message has been edited by klipschlover on 10-21-2001 at 07:22 PM
