  1. This the auditorium they were installed in that was built in 1939. They were behind the iron grills up high on the sides of the stage.
  2. These Klipschorns were installed in Pocatello High School around 1978 where they were used until a couple of years ago. An acquaintance, and fellow Klipsch fan, ended up with them. They are mint!!! AA crossovers and all drivers work. Sweet decorators. I've included pictures of the speakers and where they were installed. They were replaced because they had no bass. Could it be because there were no false corners behind them? Lol. Pocatello High School was built in 1892, but burned down. It was rebuilt and the auditorium where these speakers came from was built in 1939. Search Pocatello High School and check out the cool ghost stories!!!
  3. Sure, no problem. I'm not sure how your setup will respond. As long as you have a K-691 driver and a Xilica it should work fine as far as not hurting anything. As for how it sounds? Not sure where the crossover point is for the LaScala bin, what the time delay would be or how they will respond, but you can't hurt it as long as your connections are correct. Here's Chris A's connections: Chris A- "Note that the connections to your Xilica are: Input 1: left channel from your preamp Input 2: right channel from your preamp Output 1: left channel bass bin output (to your amplifier) Output 2: left channel HF compression driver " Output 3: right channel bass bin output Output 4: right channel HF compression driver " If it doesn't sound right Chris A can straighten it out from a raw reading using REW and the UMIK-1. 4. Mike, Hopefully you didn't have to manually enter the settings. Which brings up this offer- If anyone needs the Xilica settings Chris A helped me with let him or me know. We would be happy to share if you wanted to play with them. Trent
  5. I am very happy, and very pleased with my setup and the way it is performing! There is a place in Boise called The Stereo Shoppe. It's much nicer than any stereo store I've ever come across- even in other states. They have two very nice listening rooms- one with very nice McIntosh gear and one with a very nice Integra Atmos setup. Everything used separates in their primary listening rooms. Both rooms are well over $100,000 I'm sure. Heck, the McIntosh room has like $30,000 speaker cables to the front mains which are B & W 800 D3's!!! That being said, I'd put my current Klipsch Jubilee/Emotiva/Parasound/Xilica/Yamaha/Oppo setup up against anything they've got at this point! And personally, I don't know of anyone first hand that has a nicer setup that I've actually seen or heard in person. I know tons of people that built unimaginable theaters in their houses and then suddenly got cheap when installing the gear!!! Chris A made the magic happen without ever stepping a foot in my house! His instructions were easy to understand and the results are breathtaking. He also left me with the knowledge that I could probably come pretty close to duplicating it if I absolutely had to. I guess you could say he was able to do it "blindfolded" and taught someone to fish. I sincerely appreciate his help and value is knowledge and willingness to share. If I'd hired someone to do this it would have cost a small fortune and I probably would have learned nothing. Sincere appreciation is noted!!!
  6. They sound unbelievable! I love it!!! Chris A- I'll email the final REW sweep to you and my Xilica settings salted to taste just so you have them.
  7. I found that placing my Jubilees tight in the corners, almost like my Khorns, yielded the best bass performance. As you can see from the REW curves I have very strong LF response down to 30hz and only about a 4db drop at 25hz!!! Awesome speakers!!! Here's a picture of my bass bin angle looking down from the top at the side wall.
  8. 2 db scale- (looking at the same curves as above) Green- RAW with just crossover at 400 no PEQs Blue- second pass after first tweak from Chris A. Red- final from Chris A with 5db bass boost PEQ at 40hz.
  9. Alright! Here are the curves: 10 db scale- Green- RAW with just crossover at 400 no PEQs Blue- second pass after first tweak from Chris A. Red- final from Chris A with a 5db bass boost PEQ at 40hz that I added for what Scrappy referred to as a "House Curve" for your favorite electronic house music.
  10. My new Jubilee emblems arrived today from Klipsch. They are called the Jubilee Emblem, so why not put a set on my Jubilees.
  11. Chris A- Thanks so much for your help today working from a raw initial sweep without any PEQ's!!! Chris A really made it easy to dial my Jubilees in after their initial breakin. For those of you worried about going to Jubilees and an active crossover worry not. The process was as follows: Day 1- Chris A emailed me a basic setup for my Xilica to get me started. I ran it for about a week. They sounded great! There were some issues with sibilance from certain recordings where the sibilance was already harsh. Today Chris A and I decided to give them a final tune after breaking them in. I bypassed all of the PEQ's in XConsole essentially just using the Xilica as a basic flat crossover (using the same crossover settings he had already sent). I took separate raw readings from REW from both speakers which were pretty much identical. I took the readings by placing a microphone on a microphone stand about one meter in front of both speakers. I emailed Chris A the reading from the left speaker since it was the last I took and just left the microphone in place in front of the left speaker. He emailed me new settings for my Xilica based on the REW data I emailed him. I downloaded this into the Xilica via XConsole. I took another reading from the left speaker using REW and he knocked it out of the park pretty much flat on the first try! I emailed the second REW reading to him and he made some small tweaks in the higher frequencies with two additional mild PEQ's. He sent the file back to me and I plugged it into the Xilica via XConsole and that was it! Listening bliss!!! I love these things. Chris A was very pleased with his work as the results were +/-2 dB from 30 Hz -20 kHz, with a rising response of 1.8 dB/octave from 100 Hz down to about 25 Hz. He said it was actually a slightly better frequency response than his own room. It's really nice having such a big room- I feel lucky, and thankful to have such a dojo to listen in! He also said the phase curve is as about as flat as he's seen as well. My thoughts on the Jubilees? These things are epic to say the least!!! If you are considering a set they are a worthy leap. My explanation of what we did may seem complicated, but Chris A totally walked me through it on the phone. Thanks again Chris A!!!
  12. The recording was made with my stock iPhone 7 while still inside its case- so nothing even close to a decent recording. Chris A- do you have some good stuff I can try that would show balance below 200 hz? So far I've just tweaked your settings a bit without the LF boost that you gave me. So far I've just salted to taste. I dropped the HF from 3 db in your settings to -6 db, but this may have more to do with the gain on the amps (running Emotiva monoblocks on the LF and Parasound on the HF). I turned on PEQ 5 with the settings you gave me, which essentially just turned on the LF boost you had set. I dropped the 7db increase to 3 db which gave me a little LF boost from PEQ 5, but not the overwhelming 7 db which like you said would probably be too much. I also put pillows in my window to get rid of the reflections from the left front. Haven't "heard" any bad echos or reflections otherwise. The room is pretty good, although I will still invest in some acoustic panels soon and play with that. I have found the Jubs are actually happier tight in the corners of the room- not quite as tight as the Khorns, which were sealed to the wall, but within an inch or so (almost touching the baseboards). The speakers are angled halfway between the angles of the flat part of the two sides. If I align it along the wall of the side furthest front it's not enough angle for the 402, and if I go along the angle of the second side it seems to be too much. I've angled them right between the two, so maybe 25-30 degrees? The 402's are aligned with the front of the bin and angled down to the one on the slide scale. Schu- try it! It's a new kind of fun! I was only having problems getting my MacBook to talk to the Xilica. I just contacted Xilica and they emailed me the newest driver (not sure why they didn't have it on their website). When I tried a PC laptop it worked immediately. Once I was plugged in I was up and running in less than five minutes with Chris A on the phone. I downloaded the settings he emailed me and whamo! On a side note my MacBook worked immediately with the correct USB driver. As far as active is concerned I now prefer it. I was listening to a live concert from Linkin Park and the recording had very harsh S's or sibilance. I opened the live EQ on my Xilica processor through XConsole while the music was playing, found the problem around 8000 hz, dragged it down 4db and it was gone! I bypassed the EQ after I was done. Super nice!!! As for room size? I think yours is plenty big. Although I've found my Jubs happier in the corner they don't need corners at all. Doing an A B comparison against my LaScalas paired with a R-112SW? The Jubilees are effortless to listen to at low or high volumes. Detail is way more apparent with the 2" throat and 2-way design. If you suffer from tinnitus, which I do, the Jubilees are effortless even when turned up a bit and completely non-fatiguing. Trent
  13. Here's a little video of it. Im using a Xilica XP-4080 as a crossover.
  14. I would seriously consider the fully analog Emotiva XSP-1 preamp paired with the Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC. It may be cheaper and I believe their build quality is awesome! I love mine!!! I also like keeping the analog and digital separated by a set of XLR cables.
