  1. The speakers are birch painted black as the label indicates 'KCBB'. I had a cabinet maker veneer them with Oak and a professional furniture refinisher stain them and apply the finish. They look great! I'm not a Klipsch expert so I hope I didn't ruin them.
  2. meagain wins! They are stained Oak. I've been getting alot of inquiries.
  3. Al- Mine are DIY and yes, I've been using the 4-X tap. I tried both the 5-2 and 3-0 taps and like the 4-X best. I have older model Khorns with the K-77 tweeter and K-55V squaker. I've been very impresssed the improvements your design has made, thank you! Do you think the source equipment is also contributing the different settings people are using?
  4. The tweeter and squaker got silver-clad 14awg copper and the woofers got 10awg copper, all from North Creek Music. Really made a big difference for me! Cheap too!
  5. Al, I was kinda thinking maybe a 3PDT switch would be less expensive. I could put my favorite setting (4-X)in the middle position with one lower and one higher on each side.
  6. I would recommend replacing all the wires to each of the drivers. New wire took Al's crossover to another level on my Khorns!
  7. Thanks for the update Al. I've tried 5-2, 3-0, & 4-X settings using a 10 Ohm resistor on my Khorns, and prefer the 4-X setting. I don't know much about db's but 4-X sounds by far the best to me. I've also thought about installing a selector switch to quickly change taps to compensate for bad recordings but haven't got around to it yet. Has anyone tried this?
  8. Al- 5-2 setting.............too hard 3-0 setting.............too soft 4-X setting................ahhhh just right! I stayed with a 10ohm resistor, is there a better match? -Neek
  9. Al- What's the best way to make a setting between the normal 5-2(6.2dB) and the 3-0 (7.9dB) setting? Thanks, Nick
  10. Just built ALK crossovers for my older Klipsch K-horns, they sound great! Thank you Al, for posting your schematic and parts list. I find on some recordings that I would like to fine tune the squaker setting between taps. I don't have tone controls on my line-stage and was wondering how I could fine tune the network, maybe set the higher tap and pad it down? I'm not sure? I don't want to mess up the impedance? Any idea's or suggestions? Again, thanks Al!
