  1. Yep, I'm going! First time ever as well!

Yeah 1 sws is good, 2 is even better, but more is the best because in an average size room, the bass will be felt with extraordinary impact and no need to stress out the sub array by bringing up the sub volume, causing massive port noise. Im sure you can understand the reasoning behind that. Also, I have the 5.1 system connected to an audigy 2 card with 2 sws subs. Its great, but i know it could be better without stressing the sub so much. ---------------- I disagree, if you took away all of the frequencies from a recording that are considered "bass" (20-120Hz) that you can hear and left everything else (20Hz) and below, it'd sound like crap. Certain bass frequencies should be heard otherwise music would sound like crap.

Having bass to the point of hardly being able to hear the mids and highs is not accurate music reproduction, but I sure as hell enjoy it.
  4. I spent ~$14 bucks on some 16 guage and gold plated mini connectors from radio shack and did the whole operation myself. Not only does it look a lot nicer, but it did improve the quality of sound. I'm no audiophile and I don't have a trained ear or anything, but I did notice a difference. $14 bucks worth...maybe. I certainly wouldn't have spent $60 plus though to achieve the same effect.
  5. On my first V2-400 System, whenever I touched the volume control knob the speakers made an awful crackling noise. I had that system for about 9 months before the amp blew and got a replacement. My next V2-400 system was fine, but again the amp blew after about 4 months. Currently, I'm on my current set of the newer 4.1's with the on/off switch and headphone jack. They've been working fine but in the past 4 months or so have started to make a slight crackling sound when adjusting the volume. It doesn't bother me that much because I've had these for about 2 years I'd guess and I'll be upgrading to the ultras.
  6. Just get winamp 2...no spyware that I know of. Winamp.com -- click on the upper right hand corner to go to the winamp 2 download area. Try it, demo it out, and if you like it, keep it. If not, ditch it. You decide buster.
  7. I have my software settings set at 100 for everything. Sounds perfectly fine to me. I'm using a GTXP. Brian
  8. MD -- Because you have such a small room and the 4.1 sub you have already is almost too much bass (for you), the infinity would be ridiculous! The only time I can really turn mine on is when there is no one else home, otherwise I get yelled at by 3 different people. However, if you really really like bass, then this is the thing to get. If you like rap/drum & bass type stuff, then it's essential to atleast get some sort of additional subwoofer.
  9. I have the same sub as Pinipig. You can get it at CircuitCity right now on clearence for $284, that's the cheapest anywhere. It hits a hell of a lot lower and louder than the 4.1, 5.1, or SWS subwoofer. This things gotta be atleast 5 times louder than my 4.1 sub.
  10. There's so much bass with both on at the same time that my monitor starts to shake and text becomes blurry. Brian
  11. Noticeably? Heh heh heh. It's friggen ridiculous! It's like 10 times louder than before. If I turn the infinity up all the way, or really close to all the way it over powers the sats even if the sats are turned up half way (wicked loud). Everything in my room rattles, lol I love it! Brian
  12. Dude, we're not even talking about you anymore. I was asking him how he was able to increase his output so much just by relocating his subwoofer. This isn't even about you.
  13. Cool, I'd be interested in seeing that. I also placed my Infinity Entra Two 12" sub in the corner of my room and saw a dramatic increase in output. It's front firing, so the rear port is facing one of the walls, it sounds fantastic! Brian
  14. InnovaZero, the post about decibel levels was directed towards MD1032. Brian
