I will try this on my lascalas to see if I hear it too.
If I do hear it, it doesn't mean there is resonance in lascalas. It could be the recording itself. It would be more telling if someone hears it on a different speaker.
What percentage of recordings do you experience this with? 5%? 10%?

Contrary to conventional wisdom on this site, amplifiers do NOT sound the same. And buying a cheap receiver at a big box store will bear that out more than anything I can tell you. But let's hope you make the smart decision not to do such a thing.
Lascalas and tubes go together like bees and honey. Please state what your budget is and what you consider "modern conveniences" and someone here might be able to recommend a tube amp for you.

Since Tidal and Qobuz both claim 16/44 how does Qobuz sound better? Maybe less buffering?
I stream a lot of audio on my Integra Pre/Pro, but it is usually mp3 based.
I abandoned my turntable after I found 24/192 DVD-A. That makes me tempted to go hi-rez.
Qobuz just sounds fuller and more natural than Tidal. But none of it can replace the goodness of my record spinner. -

I've used Tidal but have found that the SQ of Qobuz is better. At one time Tidal had the better library, but I think Qobuz has caught up now.

One is not better than the other but they are different.
I beg to differ on this. I've spent time with the earlier LS and I'd say the improvement wrought by the II version is not subtle. It sounds better in almost every aspect.

Just my opinion. The AL5 is the most improved LaScala, as it should be. I haven’t seen any mention of cabinet resonance in this version. I would say if this is something that bothers you, maybe it’s time to move on. It’s one thing to modify a 40 yr old speaker to suit your needs, but a brand new speaker will quickly lose any reasonable resale value after mods. If you can do something that is reversible and doesn’t show afterwards, maybe.
Again, just my opinion.

I see you didn’t answer my question to you regarding different amplifiers.

I fail to see what AK has to do with LS1 resonance , and the question was not in any way restrictive ,
It’s not the question that’s restrictive, but the reception.- 4

I have found that some amplifiers can induce a resonance in the upper bass. I had a Sonic Frontiers Power 2 tube amp years ago that did just that. As soon as I got rid of that amp, the problem disappeared entirely.
Not saying that this is your issue, but have you heard it on more than one amp?

Sometimes I think I hear something, but it’s very benign. I know it’s greatly improved over earlier versions. It’s not enough for me to worry about and I just enjoy the music.

My Grandma would say that you don’t eat a can you pee in. As we would laugh at people who said it while shelling pecans from the tree she planted as a girl. Lost her 6 years ago. Still have the tree though.
When I grew up, we always thought people who pronounced it the “other way” were uppity, lol…..- 1

I don’t give two sh&ts about how an amp measures. If it sounds good and gets my toes tappin, that’s all I need to know. And yes, nine times out of ten, that’s a tube amp.

They cleaned up nice. And yes, you are on the right track. Vinyl and tubes sound glorious through lascalas.

It really sucks to be in such a situation, but I suppose you have to make the best of it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you could sit further away, I would say cornwalls. At the current distance I’d say heresy. But the Goldilocks would be Forte IV in my opinion.

Yes, of course, it wasn't really meant seriously.
I wasn't directing that at you. The "you" in my post was purely hypothetical and could refer to anyone.

Perhaps we should not measure anything and depend on what our ears tell us. If they tell you something other than they tell me, then we go in different directions. Problem solved. As if there ever was a problem...

F that. I don’t need measurements to tell me what pleases me. If you care that much about data, you should just curl up with an oscilloscope and some test tones. Leave the enjoyment of music to the rest of us.- 1
Lascala cabinet resonance

Pretty sure that review is the AL5. I don't think they ever reviewed the original lascala. Sam Tellig did a write up of the LS II.
