  1. The tought of me paying a shop $250 for a $5 part and 5 minutes labor makes me nauseous.

You're not. You're paying for them to find out which $5.00 part needs to be replaced.

Yeah that's the costly part, diagnosis. I've got a busted Adcom GFA 555 that I've been putting off fixing. The only shop in the twin cities has a $50 upfront fee - which isn't bad. I just have no use for the amp as I don't run my SVS cylinders anymore. It's a tough call fixing a busted amp.

I admire you Youth for working out a deal, I don't know if I could have. A shop fixing something without my authorization is wrong. They're putting you in an unfair position. It's pretty crappy really.

  2. Which towers? Thats a cool looking center. Do you still have the Anarchy horns you built? Those might be small enough for your needs. Ever consider building your own speakers?

Congrats, can't wait to hear what you think about them and how they compare with everything else you've owned :P:D

  3. Nothing against Pioneer, but if it has to be a receiver, and it has to have HDMI, I'd look at some NAD receivers. Very neutral, powerful and wonderful with music. Nothing will replace tube amps, and unless you're willing to spend a lot of money, NAD receivers are hard to beat sound wise. I have an older T763 that sounds so nice with my Heresys, or anything else really.

  4. Effortless, efficient, clean bass. I've only got one THT and the only other sub I'd consider is IB. Sealed and ported just can't compare to the sound a horn produces, no matter how many you have. For $500 you can build a sub that will fill your room, and possibly your house, with the cleanest bass you've ever heard from a sub.

The only drawback is size, most are rather large.

  5. Picked this up at BB yesterday for 16.99 bluray. Highly recommend this if you like jazz. Very intense with a nice twist at the end. Audio was great coming through the Klipsch. I actually watched it twice and it was better second time around.

Brilliant movie, absolutly loved it. Also watched Rock of Ages with the wife on Friday, really liked it too, and I'm NOT a musicals guy. Just plain fun. Been singing 80s since, lol.

Meh.  Waiting on the BIG Wrecker... -_-

Here you GO.  This is about the baddest thing you could build.  It has no business in a home.

I had the pleasure of hearing 2 of those Othorns with 2 Ghorns. The most insane bass I've ever experienced. Nothing, nothing has even come close. He has the Othorns starting around 25hz going down to 12ish hz I believe, the Ghorns do everything above 25hz.

Great looking build, as usual. How does it sound?

  7. Watched Predator last night. Love those crazy cheesy 80 special effects where explosions make people fly through the air and trained soldiers shoot machine guns like gangsters. Still, such a fun movie.

Liked Lucy, although the bass was a little weird. Getting Fury and The Judge tomorrow.
