  1. Listening to some evening radio last night and the disc jockeys were announcing that it was Neil Young’s birthday

    Think he is now 74yo

So what is an audiophile to do

Listen to ones albums in the collection

    Artist - Neil Percival Young

Hey Mike you put that up after I found it myself and had it going!

Paul they go for the orchestrated and layered sound like YES (first to my mind) utilized a lot. Synthesizers were starting to get big then. Third song I think... his voice reminded me of Freddy Mercury for a bit. This was done in a good studio no doubt. The drummer is a serious mathematician!!

The drummer Andy McCulloch was with King Crimson on the Lizard album

And he was with Greg Lake with another band I think It was a short lived Sky Limbs

You still did not answer the question... Or part of it...

All that I found out . was your speakers and/or system has a lot of empathy....

I think you should have a shoot out..

    And a/b each record....

And turn the volume up !I

    That should straighten everything out...

So what pressing did you .. Like better ?

I liked the English 1st release pressing better

The differences in SQ are very small and my comments reflect more a feeling felt listening to both records

Sometimes it’s hard to describe why one likes this pressing over the other

    Others may feel the opposite

A couple of the early to mid 70s originals I've got and have had are still more "full" sounding than the re-issues that I've heard. But it's not like every newer version has been lacking, several have been better sounding.

A little fuller overall and the crescendo sections are richer

But I put that down to the sensitivity of my system and speakers

  5. Playing an old favourite album that reminds me of my beach culture days in the 70s

Its a recently purchased album to replace a lent out album and not returned way back when I can’t remember

    Doesn’t seem to get old

    Artist - Neil Young

Title - After The Gold Rush

  6. Not sure how many members have this record from 1977

It’s a solo album from a member of Focus

A very well executed Prog / Jazz fusion album that is a delight to listen to

    Cool album cover as well

    Artist - Jan Akkerman

I'm just hangin and thunkin.  Nosin in some auction stuff lately but nuttin really interests me so we're back into the money hoarding mode!  Had to shoot the Schiit Mani boys an email.  Developed a hum and isolated it to the Mani.  It's going back soon since they said they'd take a look at it.  Thinkin about a Puffin now since I opted for the cheaper Mani initially.  Sounded fine then boom it wasn't as bright on the high end as it should have been.  So we'll see what they say.  They were nice enough to give me all of these problem-solving hints though.  hahaha  Sure I checked them allllll out too and the hum is still there.  Seriously?  It's possible the cart is puking on the Linn though but the Mani is the easiest starting point.  Might just order a Puffin.  Now I'm going back into my little padded cell...  hahahaha

I own a puffin now - it’s a preloved unit - and it’s a recent purchase that is pretty good to my ears so far

Performance wise the puffin will fall in between a Mani and the IFi 2

    Well I think so

I remember going in to buy this album at Tyrrells recordland Newcastle

Still a favourite ambient album to this day

I needed to get it because I owned and loved the earlier album Another Green World

  10. A perfect Sunday morning spin Aussie time

Many have voted this album the bands best release and I agree that it’s exceptional

But my sentimental heart always goes back to Nursery Cryme

Title - Selling England By The Pound

ID - Charisma label CAS 1074

  12. In my youth ( late 70s ) we owned a mechanical workshop that specialised in hotting up road cars, and every 2 weeks we competed in 1/4 mile drags against the clock ( those days we  had carburettors )

Now that I’m a little older ( but still a rev head ) I have mellowed down a little and prefer the all round feel of driving enjoyment and fun car to drive over raw grunt

Having said that and my recommendation may surprise you - because test driving this car surprised me on how good it is against a BMW

Its the Hyundai i30N - It’s warranty also covers the owner for casual racing on a racetrack

Do yourself a favour and take a test drive if it’s available in the USA
