  1. Happy Sat. a.m. folks. On my second cup and as far as I know no panty hose have ever inhabited the pot. OMG, Mark, where did you hear that one?!?

We batted .500 yesterday on the new appliances. New dishwasher is in. Great. However, Sears sold us the wrong size wall oven even though I accurately provided the dimensions of the space and size of the unit we have now.  Went back to Sears and asked them to substitute the right size in the same type oven and that we'd pay any price difference, but at the sales price in effect when we placed the order (a few weeks ago). They couldn't (i.e., wouldn't) do that so I cancelled the oven order. Dumb way to lose sales. Back to the drawing board.

Gonna get moving here and do some outdoor projects before rain later today. Cheers guys.

  2. I like the Marantz 'house' sound a lot and use a Marantz pre-pro and power amp in our HT system. Pairs well with Klipsch. Also have used a small Marantz integrated amp and CDP in the 2 ch system (now in a secondary system). Conversely, I've had some VERY bad luck recently in attempting to upgrade to a new CD6005 in the 2 ch system. Three (count 'em - 3) lemons in a row from Music Direct. Finally gave up and bought a used Oppo-95 which works and sounds like a champ. I have to seriously question Marantz' commitment to quality and would likely not buy any new products from them now.

  3. Happy Friday guys. Busy day yesterday, so I missed ya'll. Gotta stick around the house today since we have some new appliances coming. Dishwasher shot craps so we have to replace it. Wall oven should be in a museum somewhere so we're making a preemptive strike and replacing it now. The joy of home ownership. Been using a 'self-paced' Toro push mower for a few years now. Don't have a large lot and much of it is planted with perennial/flower beds so no need for more.

Welcome back MKP! Check back in a bit if the appliance guys don't interfere too much.

  4. Mornin' all. Another sunny day ...maybe we're done with nasty weather. Famous last words, eh? Don't know much about aviation except how to find the airport, but the discussion is interesting. That's 'plane' to see. Just wanted to check in and say 'yo.' Have a great day and cheers.

  5. My dad introduced me to good sound and good music in the 50's. He had a single K-horn in a mono system with tube amps, a huge collection of New Orleans/Memphis/St. Louis jazz, classical stuff, pop stuff, Etc., Etc. Just as important, and even though he didn't play an instrument himself, he bought me a Wurlitzer spinet model organ and lessons when I was about 11. He instilled in me a love for music which remains an important part of my life and I am grateful for that.

  6. dtel ... those really are great pics. Thanks for sharing them. Looks like a real kick.

Baxter finally got rid of his small competitor for the crate. They picked her up last night. Darned if he doesn't seem to miss her now. Dog psychology just ain't my expertise.

Finally getting a sunny day after 4 or 5 days of rain and chill. A long walk is in order. Coloradans like to brag about getting 300 sunny days a year on average. I think we have some catching up to do to keep any braggin' rights.

Cheers, as always. Woof to Jake from Bax.

  7. And Jake napping on a rainy afternoon......

Baxter states that he's jealous and p.o.'ed that Jake is getting a nap since my step daughter's dog is visiting and raiding his sanctuary. It really is a riot since he weighs some 68 lbs and the little one is about 6 lbs. She swipes his crate (where he hangs out for naps) and he has no idea how to evict her other than coming and snitching to us. Typical pacifist Springer.

    Woof to Jake.

  8. The Egg has many nice features. My only reservation is capacity but maybe I don't really understand. I often smoke 4 large slabs of pork ribs and need a fair amount of space to do it. Would that work on the Egg??

    Thanks for the pics, Chuck.

  9. Happy belated morning. Our 'spring' weather is snow in the mountains and chilly rain supposed to start in Denver metro. Still waiting to see if the Water Gods will order restrictions this year, even though they should be running out of excuses to do so.

Heading out for a 6 year old's birthday party. Should be fun if the weather cooperates for a couple more hours. Have a great weekend, all.

  10. Friday Cheers guys. Good grief, Sancho, you are the earliest riser around here! This is "D" day for me in terms of doing some dreaded and long avoided exercise. An old buddy has finally gotten me to agree to visit Planet Fitness with him. I mean haven't I walked Baxter every day? Haven't I already lost weight? Don't I cut the grass?? Why?? Oh why??? Guess I need to man up and see what my fate will be.

On a cheerier note some of my 'new' tunes (actually oldies by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons) are starting to sound pretty good on the Hammond. Just about ready to play with my guitar buddy again.

    Happy Friday, all.

  11. Mornin' guys. Not too much on the horizon today except grass cutting and trimming. Gotta get out there before I need to bring in a brush hog or our crazy weather takes another 180.

Mark, for your diner friend, maybe get him a thank you card and some $. Simple and small business guys have tough way to go these days.

    Cheers to all.

  12. Morning all, boys at school, breakfast and protein shake down, dishes washed....................................was sentenced to some hard times last evening, wife wanted to watch the ACM (American country music awards) I suffered through with as little comment as I could humanly stand.  1 thing really struck me though

Country (or at least what they call country) seems 1 hell of a lot more like POP than what I recall as country..........................also the show was very poorly mastered you heard more of the audience than the performers, and several times while accepting awards the performers would ask which way to face while speaking.  all in all a very poor effort at an awards ceremony IMHO.

reminded me more of a huge drunken yuppy party than a country music event..........................."Times they are a changing"

You've pretty much nailed it, Joe. I won't listen to or play the crap that passes for 'country' today, and I've been playing country music for a long, long time now along with rock 'n roll. The music industry seems to have homogenized country into a 'pop' sound to appeal to a wider, younger audience and the result is garbage. When I play country it's always along the lines of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, etc. My hope is that good artists will someday find a way around the 'industry' and get back to roots. Thanks for the excuse to vent and have an excellent day.

  13. We saw The Imitation Game last night .... highly recommended. Great story and very well acted. On Friday, and just for kicks, we watched the old Steve McQueen movie Bullitt. The car chase is still great, even after all of the many take offs trying to top it, and overall the movie is still very good.

  14. Hey folks ... slow but good day yesterday. Played a bunch of old rock 'n roll on the Hammond and then started pulling out old LP's, many from my folks' collection. Good stuff and a real kick to listen to them again. I love great well kept vinyl. Guess I'm showing my age, but damn it's good stuff. :D Topped off the day with dinner and watched 'The Imitation Game' via Vudu. Fine movie and recommended.

Cheers to all! Try to check back in a bit.

  15. MANY moons ago, I had a close friend who was well acquainted with a Klipsch dealer and had spoken with PWK a number of times. The story I got was that Klipsch would pull its franchise from the dealer if it caught the dealer discounting Klipsch speakers. True? I dunno and it appears that has changed.  Both the dealer and my friend have long since passed away. I just know that for the present I'm pretty well priced out of the picture for new KHorns or LaScalas and certainly Palladium.

  16. Mornin' all. Looks like I'm max'ed out on 'likes' for now. Not much to report except our screwy weather will keep my outdoor projects on hold for a while longer. About 15 or so miles west of us a snowy mix has really messed up traffic going up into the foothills. Good day to stay down here in Denver metro. At least we're only looking at some rain and cool temps. Working up some old tunes on the Hammond, mostly old Frankie Valli/Four Seasons stuff. Got inspired watching (again) Jersey Boys BluRay the other afternoon.

Have a great day and weekend. Cheers as always.

  17. Just watched Jersey Boys again yesterday. Don't believe Clint Eastwood has made a bad movie yet and this one is excellent. I usually don't watch movies more than once, but make an exception for really good concert videos and musicals like this one. Highly recommended.

  18. Mornin' guys. The subject of old Coke machines reminds me of the the cable show American Restoration. They do that sort of thing but very high dollar. Think they are based in Vegas. Definitely seems to be a market for that stuff. I always think about my grocery work days in my late teens filling the pop machines. Glass bottles no less.

Colorado is doing its typical spring weather thing ... back to snow for a few days. Shirt sleeves yesterday. Oh well, we need the moisture.

    Later ............

  19. Mornin' everybody. Sounds like the Hope trip was great. Will give serious thought to going next time. Got the new dishwasher bought yesterday and ordered a new wall oven while we were at it. Substantial sale at Sears made it worthwhile, plus our old oven should probably be in an appliance museum somewhere and is next in line to crap out. Garden borders go up today. Baxter states that he's developing a major resentment.

Cheers and will try to check back in a bit.

  20. Mornin' gang. Finished up a good day yesterday with the new movie version of Exodus. Pretty good but not great. Better half is off work today and we're off to Sears since our dishwasher decided to shoot craps yesterday after 12+ years. Also to Depot to get some garden borders ... need to stake out my backyard turf with Baxter who thinks all of the real estate belongs to him.

    Cheers guys.

  21. Time to get C&C up and running again! Where ya at Mark? Chuck? Gary? billybob? Other 'gang members'?

Good weekend around here. Mostly celebrating my beautiful better half's birthday. She got her requested patio chairs along with flowers, some fine dining, cards and bbq tonight. Somehow I enjoy her b-day more than my own. Have a great day and cheers to all............
