  1. Some updates:

I have replaced both of the crossovers with Bob Crites' ones, thanks to Bob for his great products.

I hooked my CW with Roy Mottram SP12R tube pre amps + Latino's ST120 tubes amp.

After sometimes listening to them (about 20 hrs or so up to now), I found that the speakers had been opened up in mid range area.

Listening to some vocal jazz, the vocal sounds more up forward while I can hear more details in the background with the same volume setting with previous crossovers.

I will have some tubes rolling in near future.

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  2. Hi all,

this is my first Topic. I'm a very happy owner of a couple of Cornwall III. Now I'm looking for a good speaker cable that will be able to drive them in the best way. I know that Cornwall III might be driven by very cheap cables and I'm of quite opened mind to accept a simple and cheap electrician cable.

So, what speaker cable would you suggest me for this fantastic loudspeaker?

    Thanks in advance

    Bye

    Fabio

Congrats on your Cornwall III & welcome ot the forum.

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  3. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me out. Opened up my cornwalls circa 1981 and replaced the tweeters with Crites' CT125s all good. Now looking at the crossovers they do not seem to match any type B crossover picture that I can find even though they are identified as Type B on the crossover itself. I'm hoping someone can look at the attached photo and advise if the crossover has been modified in any way. Cheers

I had the same crossover (B2) in my pair of 1981-Cornwall. Get it replaced with new crossover from Bob.

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  4. So six month or so ago I sold my La Scalas of 12 years to buy some new speakers. I wanted something that looked and sounded better. I bought a sub woofer from SVS and it is great. So decided after reading all the wonderful reviews on there Ultra towers it was time to sell the La Scalas and buy the SVS Ultra Towers. Well the Ultras look better. Only because the La Scalas where a little beat up and some *** lacquered with polyurethane and did a horrible job before I got them. Damn and I am not sure if they sound better. My only complaint with the La Scalas was I felt like I had to listen to them to loud for them to open up and sound great. I replaced the crossovers with ALK Universals many years ago and there was a noticeable improvement. But now I wonder if the new ALK Universal economy crossovers would fix this problem with the ability to turn down the squeaker and the tweeter. Well how about the looks?  A beautiful pair of Walnut Belles will fix this problem. I will be going to get these in a few weeks. Besides I missed you guys and felt like a traitor for playing on here and not having any Klipsch in the house.

    Beautiful pair...congrats!

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  5. Hello and I should start with I have been creeping this site for YEARS. Its time to finally get an account here. I have always found this site to be very informative and genuine.

I did 8 Years of quality audio sales early 80's to early 90's

I have been looking for Heresy or Cornwalls, ya just shopping. And I came across a pair of vintage ?? 1981 possibly Klipschorns.

    Serial reads 18w745 w=1981

They look like good condition but pics are not great and cannot get any more pics easily as speakers are in another location in storage and I am 800km away from the seller.

Seller is asking 1500 CDN dollars for them. and claims fully functional.\

Currently running Bryston and Kef 104/2. Have a spare Bryston 3B for the K-Horns.

    many thanks

    Chris

Welcome to the forum, Chris & goodluck on your purchase.

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  6. How do your new corns compare to the other speakers in your avatar?

    Hi reference_head,

The other speakers are Reference series, i've been using the fronts as 2-ch for music before my CW arrived.

The CW give more details especially in low/moderate volume, also give better soundstage which is I can hear the different with the RF62s. The bass is better on the CW.

Overall, I'm happy with these CWs for 2-ch music and for the HT i use them all (7-ch).

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  7. Beautiful CW's Jimmy! I love the cane grills. Cornwalls were my second set of Klipsch speakers. If I hadn't needed the cash to buy my wife's engagement ring at the time, I know I'd still own them now, awesome speaker for sure, enjoy them!

    Thanks, Shodrewken,

Yes you're right that the cane grills give the classic looks.

I hope that you can get another CW in future...

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  8. Congratulations on the Conrwalls, Of all the Klipsch gear I have purchased so far, my favorite was the cornwall purchase. My only recommendation would be to get the risers for underneath them, It only raises them 2 inches or so but I think they make a big difference not being directly on the floor. Enjoy the sound sir , may you have many more purchases to come :)

    Charlie

    Hi Charlie,

Thanks...and yes, you can read my mind as I've ordered the risers from Bob as well as the new B2-cross over.

Can't wait for them to be arrived...

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  9. Hello all Klipsch fans,

I am Kent T, from Athens, TN. I am an avid audiophile for over 40 years. I am new to the Klipsch experience, don't own a pair yet. (I have a pair of Chorus II on loan). I am using a McIntosh MA 5100 integrated amp to drive them with. And very much love Klipsch's sonics and have used them in broadcast station control rooms as an operator and engineer. Which speakers are best suited to small sized rooms in Klipsch? Which is your favorite Klipsch speaker? I really enjoy reading this forum, and have lurked here several months. Thanks!

    Welcome aboard, Kent.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  10. Compare to the RF62, at the same volume level & tone control set up, these Cornwall bring up more details, bass and wider sound stage. The bass is huge as to my taste and it's not boomy.

Congrats on the new speakers. The Cornwalls are big speakers, lol. Enjoy!

    Thanks, derrickdj1.

They are not big, just fat!!...lol

    Cheers,

    Jimmy

  11. Hello to all, I just joined the forum today. I heard my first set of Klipsch back in 1987 "Chorus" and I was blown away!!! Got my 1st set in 1991 found some La scala's and have been buying Klipsch ever since. I took one set of my KP 360's over to my buddies house yesterday with 2 Carver cubes, we set them up outside around his pool. He now wants some Klipsch.... I look forward to reading and learning in the forum...

    Welcome to the forum, MKP

  12. Hi, I just joined this forum, thanks! I have just bought a pair of Belles and they are on their way. Reading this thread is getting me excited!

I'm planning to run them with my 50W per channel vacuum tube amplifier, in the back room (no room inside!), and hopefully bring them out under a covered patio for my vinyl get-togethers. I'll get used to them, then of course upgraditis will kick in!

    Can't wait!

    Geoff

    Welcome aboard, Geoff...

    Cheers,

    Jimmy
