  1. I was worried about that... I think I'm going to look into the reference line for now. They would match the RB35s I own already and would likely fit better in the room. Thanks again for all the help!
  2. That's an easy thing to test out too. I have sheets of ply at the house I can just place one up real fast and see how it affects the sound. I don't have the speakers yet. I'm going this weekend to make a purchase. Either the ChorusII, the RF62ii or Forteii. I was leaning towards the ChorusII but now my wife likes the look of the RF62ii with the RB-35s. That's not a bad compromise since she first wanted the Quintets over everything else! RF62iis are still good speakers, right? I'd be getting them with an RC62 for $500 total.
  3. I feel bad posting another thread, but I want to nail this down! I think I've decided to continue with a 5.1 setup, still not sure if the Chorus II or Reference line will be my route, but this thread isn't about that! The link below contains photos taken during our home inspection prior to purchasing the home. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ic5pi265f6tatjg/AAD47XkjAHhHh2NLf1l6xkVva?dl=0 I've yellowed out the family photos for privacy, and the furniture is not ours. But our setup now is the same orientation, just with a lot of boxes and crap everywhere until we unpack! Basically we have a sectional couch instead of the two separates, and the TV is wall mounted in the same position. There is also a very rough drawing of the layout. It's about 14'x19' with a large entrance to the room from the kitchen that is about 5'-6' wide. The drawing is not to scale and I made it during my lunch break yesterday so it's not the greatest. But with the photos hopefully we can get a feel for the room?! So. I would like to have a 5.1 channel with the TV. It's going to be a multi-purpose room for movies, music, and gaming. My wife wants to keep the orientation as is. With the couch facing the 19' wall towards the kitchen. It's more inviting with guests and opens the room up more. I would like to optimize the audio for this room as it will be the one room for everything! Move the TV to the 14' wall between the windows? This would create corners for the speakers and equal lines along the vaulted ceiling. I like this idea, but how do I setup the couches to create an "inviting" feel so the wife buys the new setup? I know there are some designers/architects out there that would like to assist?! Cheers! Logan
  4. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ic5pi265f6tatjg/AAD47XkjAHhHh2NLf1l6xkVva?dl=0 Here is a link to some photos we took during the home inspection prior to purchase. We just moved in on Friday last week so photos now would just be a ton of boxes and random stuff! lol So note, the furniture in the photos are not ours. But their setup was basically how we would do ours, except with a sectional couch rather than two and the TV wall mounted instead of on stand. Also, I placed yellow boxes over the family portraits to preserve as much privacy as possible since the family was willing to let me take the photos in the first place! Thoughts? I might make a separate thread in HT with the photos to gauge an opinion from that crowd of members
  5. my wife is not so much concerned about audio quality as she is "open-ness and welcoming-ness". I see where she is coming from though - If we rotated the whole room it would turn everyone away from the central area which is really the large kitchen and walkway through to family room. It would feel less inclusive. But again, currently it's sub-optimal for audio... Ahhh what to do?! I ran the idea by her and she said, "We'll talk about it tonight..." That means I need a very convincing argument! and a plan to make the room welcoming in the new orientation!
  6. How do I find our if my AVR has that capability? I have a Pioneer VSX 822. Lost the remote and ordered a new one so I really won't be able to do much with settings for another week until the new one comes in...
  7. I'll try to post some pictures tonight or tomorrow of the actual room. We're still moving in so nothing is really setup yet... Aside from the wallmount for TV and couch. My wife does want some "leaning tower shelving" that lay flush against the wall on the TV side. (just google image it if you don't know what I mean...) Maybe if I can build them out from the entrance to the room and the corner by the window, I can put the two tower speakers next to them and have pseudo corners created? Would that help with the left speaker that otherwise would just be sitting out in the open? I need help with this room! haha
  8. How do the Chorus II's compare to the Forte II's? I really just don't know if 2-channel will suffice for home theatre. We will need the same system to work movies, tv and music. I'm going to listen to the Chorus II's this weekend. And possibly a pair of Forte II's as well. But I have the RF62iis and RC62 available. All three options are basically the same price point...
  9. If I can get an RC62 and a set of RF62II for the same price as the Chorus II, would I be advised to do so? They would pair better with the RB35s I imagine...
  10. Yes we have thick roll-down curtains and will be adding more to cut down on the glare as well. We just had new saxony carpet installed. (thick and plush) The couch is a microfiber, and the rest of the furniture I have made and is primarily pine cabinets/tables/etc. So Chorus IIs would be worth the investment to try out as a 2-channel first?
  11. I can't find any information of this... Does anyone have experience pairing the Chorus II speakers with any of the reference line in a 5.1 setup? I just posted in the 2-channel threads to discuss the possibility of running only the Chorus II for the entire multi-purpose system in my family room; though I have a feeling they will tell me to come here to discuss my options adding to a 5.1 with the Chorus II... I only have a set of RB35s now. Would I be able to add these to the rears and run the Chorus IIs as mains? What center would pair well with the Chorus II? I have yet to purchase the Chorus IIs, but I have a few offers on them and want to gauge my options before dropping $$$. My wife keeps telling me to just buy the Quintet V system and call it quits, but I have a feeling like that won't be the end of it... I mean, we don't want killer output. The RB35s have been our 2-channel system for 3 years and we're content, but I'd like to have a bit more output for our larger room now (14x19 with vaulted ceiling) If you have experience with the Chorus line paired with Reference speakers, I'd love to hear!
  12. I keep hearing the term "multipurpose system" thrown around... I have one room for everything. In my opinion the room is sub-optimal... but it'll have to do! 14x19, basically a large sun-room addition but with 3/4inch ply behind drywall. There is a very large walkway to the room in the corner of the 19' wall, opening is probably 5' - 6' wide. There are 5 large windows, a sliding glass door, and vaulted ceiling with fan. The windows and glass door all have thick fabric curtains. The vaulted ceiling is centered to the room (dashed line in drawing). So the couch and viewing field doesn't fall directly underneath the ceiling's peak. OK, here's an extremely ROUGH drawing of the room... Not to scale. The windows are very close to one another so the TV cannot go on the right 14' wall. I've considered that but it just won't work. The TV has to stay where it is. Can I get by with a 2-channel system here? Chorus II? I would be listening to music and watching movies/playing games through the same system.. Or should I relay this post to the HT threads for feedback on adding rears and center to the Chorus IIs? Cheers!
  13. My wife and I just moved in to our house. We're setting everything up and have a bit of cash set aside for main speakers. I have a set of RB35s that will not hold their own in our new family room (14x19 with vaulted ceiling). Looking for RF62ii's or similar... Wife wants to keep within the Reference Line - She likes the copper/black look. I'd love to get some Chorus iis or Fortes, but the compromise for RF62ii's is a win to me! If you live in the area (Maryland / Delmarva) let me know what you have for sale! I'm willing to drive and pick them up as well if the deal is right, so as far as Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Norfolk, VA as well. Cheers! Thanks for looking!
  14. I appreciate your honesty! I don't know what to do with them... If you google Bose 701 classic - I guess I'll plug them in and see... If they are that bad I'll ask my dad if I can sell them to replace with some Klipsch - He might be okay with that?!
  15. Well, looks like the Forte IIs I was looking at sold to someone else over the weekend... The search continues for a set of towers to pair with my RB-35s!
  16. Thanks for the links! There's actually a pair of Forte II on CL now not too far from me... $500 obo. I'll look into these. Also see a KLF10 for $425. I think from the same seller... Is that a good deal? Thanks again for the help!
  17. If you were heading to Maryland any time soon I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
  18. Here! I'll throw in a wrench... My dad just told me he has a pair of Bose 701 floorstanding speakers for me when I move into the new house. I really don't like Bose, and I wouldn't want to sell my dad's speakers. These could work temporarily though while I save up for some RF-7s. Thoughts on the Bose 701s with the Klipsch RB-35s? Would I move the RB-35s as rears?
  19. Haha oh there's plenty of that... Wife works at a brewery in our town, and our good friends own a crab shack. In fact, we just had a crab feast a few days ago with good local beer, great crabs and even better people. Now, if only I had an audio system to compliment the next feast we have!
  20. woooow I'd love to get a pair of these... Always just assumed they were out of my price range. $400?! That's a dream...
  21. Yeah that's a bit much right now... Especially if they are only to pair with the RB-35s I have!
