  1. Did you see TASDOMS reply? This may be good for yours also.
  2. I think we may have a winner, thanks !!!
  3. I have both and the X4000 is very nice so far. It does sound a little warmer than the AVENTAGE series and I like that it can be hooked up 9.2 with an external amp.
  4. I'm assuming it will give a slight texture and Matte finish?
  5. I personally don't see that big of a difference in Atmos when compared to the 9.2 setup and some of the 11.2 setups that are available. I wasn't blown away by it in any of the stores I heard it in either. I remember in the late 80's-early 90's when they were talking about HD and how it was going to revolutionize the industry,Look how long that took to take hold. Then there was SACD, DVD AUDIO, now 4K. It's way to much money for the average person to put out of their pocket for something that will not be available on a consistent basis for several years in my opinion. Now with ATMOS, you have to buy more speakers and stick them in your ceiling or on top of your other speakers. There was a great article on it that someone else here posted about Onkyo's not using Audessey anymore and ATMOS. For the extra money, I'd rather save and buy a pair of these La Scallas everyone loves.
  6. yea, I may take them either to a leather/vinyl repair place, try to use gorilla glue, maybe just peel it all off and prime them and paint them over with a sturdy oil based paint. I thought maybe a very strong fabric spray glue also. I got them for $110.00 for the pair, so for the $10.00 for a oil based spray matte paint it shouldn't be that bad.
  7. I just purchased a pair of RS-3's used and they have some peeling vinyl on their cabinets. This is the paper thin vinyl that is on the covers. I wanted to know what the best way to go about repairing them would be. Is there a glue I can use to try to just glue the area where it's peeling, or is there any vinyl I can order to put on them?Or does Klipsch sell replacement cabinets?Attached is a picture. Any help is appreciated.

  9. I've already gotten rid of said speakers that were getting knocked over, but I guess I can always "practice" for future reference using electricity on said parties just in case.
  10. Unfortunately for me, there aren't any places I can demo any receivers, unless I pay for them 1st then return them.
  11. The Yamaha's are definitely brighter, but can be "warmed" up a little. I like them better for instruments playing and for HT. They seem to have a "fuller" more all around sound to me.The warmer sound from Denon and even warmer sound for Marantz is nice for people who focus more on voice/jazz type music in my opinion. I just felt that they weren't bright enough for the instruments and didn't give a full enough sound for me. Maybe it was the store where I listenend to them. Maybe it's just that my ears have been accustomed to Yamaha all these years, but I like hearing a nice crisp high and thumping bass with the mids not as focused. MARANTZ didn't seem to have the thumping bass, but were ridiculous with voice/jazz and mids. I feel Denon is in between both.I can say the older Yamaha receivers were warmer in sound than they are today.
  12. The Marantz getting very hot is an issue I've read in other forums. I've called them direct and they say it needs to have at least 6 inches on all sides for clearance. The display is the other one. And as per Marantz, once over the $1000.00 range, them and Denon have almost identical components.
  13. I've passed it a few times but never stopped in to eat there.
  14. Well I decided to keep these, setting them up in the bedroom. Funny thing happened today, I got a call from Fedex with them saying they found my "lost" receiver I sold through Ebay back in May. It never made it to it's destination and they wrote it off as a loss and payed me for the unit. They asked me if I wanted it back and I said yes. So they are sending it back, and letting me keep the money they paid me for the unit when they lost it. So I guess it's a sign not to sell these. How do I go about taking these off the market here?
  15. Never heard of it, but then again I don't frequent that area to much.
  16. I personally have a Yamaha RX A2020 and Denon AVR X4000. Both were bought "gently used" on Ebay. The Yamaha was $630.00 with a 3 year warranty through Square Trade, and the Denon was $650.00. There are a few Denons on there for below the $750.00 range. The Marantz I was looking at was the 7007 which is a little older but can be had for around $750.00. My personal favorite for the movie side is the Yamaha with the Denon sounding better in my opinion with music that concentrates more on voice then instruments and has a warmer sound. I think the Yamaha has a better overall music sound when geared towards instruments, but that's my opinion. I'm into all types of music like Floyd, Trance, Social Distortion, Classic Rock, Disco.things like that.I'm not into Jazz or Classical so the Yamaha does it for me. If I were into the Jazz stuff I'd probably do the Marantz or Denon. The Marantz's I listened to and contemplated on buying were better at centering and focusing on voice and seemed to have the instruments more in the background. Also, the Marantz don't seem to push the wattage they claim to. The RX A1040 can be had new in the box for around $850.00-$1,000.00. I think the 1040 is rated at 110 watts. The Marantz 5 series is 100 watts, the 6 series I think is 110 watts and the 7 series is 125 watts. The Denon I have is 125 watts. I don't use amps at this point so the receiver does all the power work for me for my speakers. I also listened to the new Pioneer receivers and didn't like the sound coming from them, to much muddled bass and not enough mids and highs, maybe it was the way the store had them hooked up, but all 3 sounded that way. No real clarity to me. If you aren't to put off on used, and something maybe 2 years older than the 1040 series, there are 2 on Ebay that can be bought for less than $600.00 and you can get the extended warranty through Square Trade. The one has a starting bid at $399.00 with no bidders and a sale price of $579.00 of buy it now. It has been on there for about a week and a half and started at $499.00 bid and $699.00 buy it now. It is missing the remote though, but they are only $25.00 online. Only reason I didn't get it was because of the Denon's price being $150.00 less than avg.
  17. yes it is, it's more towards south jersey, but the west side of Jersey.About an hour from Atlantic City. Where is he a chef?
  18. about an hour and 20 mins away from that area
  19. I'm leaning more and more towards keeping them if no one wants them within the next week. I may just move them to my bedroom and use them there as a 5.1 setup. As I stated earlier I had these in my living room which is 19x22, and I had the 3.1's as mains, a 10" sub, and the other 4 as surrounds and they filled the room just fine. I should have kept the 3.1's and not even messed with the system, lol. The new receiver however is more powerful than the prior receiver and the towers I have now don't match up correctly with these.
  20. Unfortunately for me, I don't have anyone I can drag to go places with, lol. Wife and kids love to camp but hate fishing, and only go in summer time. Friends that I used to travel with are no longer around, so it's me, myself, and I. I do the tent thing, and sometimes will rent a room depending on where I go. Had a pop up camper but got rid of it.Wished I would've kept it. Mustang ,you must have a very large room for all those La Scalas. I feel like a little kid looking up to an adult when I see some of the speakers and HT setups on here.
  21. same here, don't want to get into trouble when I just signed up here.
  22. lol I bet you have New Mexico beat. Hmm, muskie fishing in a kayak.........might be one hell of a ride! It is with Pike, Blue Fish, Striped Bass, Catfish, and many other species. I could post 100's of pictures, lol.Attached are a few. I did however wear my Klipsch headphones while listening to music.
  23. nice healthy looking fish, that is definitely on my to do list going up there.
