  1. I love to show off my system! But haven't finished it off with Klipsch yet. I have a KLF C7 coming and a pair of KG 5.5's. Will then move KG 3.5's to surrounds. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  2. For concert DVD's, I have to add the new Queen I just bought the other day. It is DTS. It was awesome! I cranked it up and thought my ears were going to start to bleed!! If you like their music, this is one dvd to add to your collection! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  3. I agree with Audioholic about Gladiator and Haunting. Both are great! I just have standard DTS,not ES yet. Even in5.1 they are awesome! The battle scene in beginning is amazing! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  4. Thanks! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  5. I'm getting a pair of KG 5.5's. They are in excellent condition. I was wondering what do they normally go for and what is the max I should pay? Thanks! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  6. My favorite DVD to show off the power of my system is U-571. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  7. I want Legends really bad, but I'm going to hold out for the Big Boys,KLF-30s. I did win a KLF-C7 for $234. Can't wait to get it to see how well it matches up with my KG 3.5s! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  8. I agree with you,Lone Palm! I have Eagles in DTS on laserdisc. Incredible!!! Other favorite music dvd's are Fleetwood Mac's The Dance, Tina Turner in Amsterdam DTS, Metallica DVD-Audio, which I can only listen to the DD version now.But I am very pleased with it. Also pleased with the DVD Music put out by Silverline/5.1 Entertainment. But these can spoil you. My last couple of concert dvds sounded alwful! AC/DC:No Bull, and Alice Cooper: Brutally Live.Which is in DTS. That is main reason I bought it,but even that sounded bad. I ended up putting it back in 2 channel analog mode for it to sound decent. Most generally, I tell people not to listen to stereo cds in surround. They usually sound like crap. If it says it is surround, then its not so bad. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  9. My experience in this is I've been usning Floorstanding speakers for my surrounds for over 4 years now. My belief is if you want to experience the most from DD & DTS, you want fullrange speakers in back. I don't have to have the subs on to feel all the bass. Once, late at night I was watching U-571 without the subs on. I was still feeling the explosions! What I did for configuring them was pull my couch away from the wall. The speakers are on stands putting drivers well above ear level. They are facing toward each other. Even though they aren't intened for surrounds, they do provide a great enveloping experience. My advice is to experiment with them. After you get them positioned right, go through using a setup disc, and caliberate the levels. Put some of you favorite movies in to see what you think. Hope this helps a little. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  10. The coffins have no crossovers or amps in them,so there is no adjusting them. From the "sub out" on the receiver, signal goes to my Audio Control Phase coupled activator. It's used for bass restoration. There is a crossover in it. So it helps out running through this unit before the amp. I'm using a Rotel 5 channel amp to run both coffins. Only 4 of the 5 channels are being used. Even when the subs were installed, the guy said that the Advents weren't the best to use,but for my budget, they worked. I recently found a tear in one,but can't hear any difference when listening. I'm thinking of replacing all of them next year. I can't imagine having JLs put in these beasts! Even for being Advents, they do hit hard. I like hard tight bass. I don't like when you hear rumbling. I want to feel it. Powered subs on the market take so much tweeking to get them to sound right for me. It's good to hear about others doing inventive things for home theater. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  11. Thanks for the comments everyone! bacevedo-there are two coffins. A rectangular one about 5 ft long and the other is wider toward the top to accomodate a large upper body. It is about 6 ft. I could actually squeeze into it. I got them from an antique dealer here in my hometown. BBB-as for the Dracula superbit dvd,you should be able to get it at http:www.digitaleyesdvd.com/ They have reasonable prices and shipping. Also great customer service! I'm looking into getting that dvd myself. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  12. Sorry, for some reason the 1st 3 pics were not added in post. I went in,deleted them and reposted them now. I don't know what I did wrong! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  13. I finally got the pics of my subs and neon lights. They show the subs sitting and one tipped over to show speakers. The pics I took of the lights was with the flash on for the first one. And covered the flash for the 2nd to show how it looks in dark. ENJOY!! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ This message has been edited by MagnumMan on 01-13-2002 at 04:08 AM
  14. Thanks! I haven't been on their site for quite sometime. It was always under construction. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  15. If you are going to upgrade your reciever,I would check the features of what you are looking for. With the new formats out and new stuff in receivers. I would play a waiting game. I'm a Harman Kardon nut! Great quality and easy to use. But they don't have any new equipment with DD EX & DTS ES built in yet. Then I have to make sure it has 6 CH inputs to accommodate SACD or DVD-Audio. I still have laserdisc, so finding new equipment with an RF input will be hard. Besides HK,I would lean toward Denon. Yahmaha makes some good stuff, but I hate them. Main reason is many times they put a ton of buttons on front panel that you will never use(unless the remote is broke). I have never found them to be user friendly either. It takes me awhile to figure out how to work one. I've had my HK AVR 80 for almost 4 yrs now. I listen to a lot of music. Everything from jazz to heavy metal. It still makes my KG 3.5's sing. I also watch tons of movies to. I do agree with another post about once you own Klipsch and get use to the horns, nothing else sounds the same. If I didn't have Klipsch, I think B&W's are the next best thing. They handle music and movies well. Since Harman took over JBL, I've seen them putting horns in theirs as weel. I haven't heard any,so I can't judge how good they are. But with Harman running the show,I'm guessing they are pretty good. Just look what they did with Infinity. Took over, fired most of engineers and started over. I've been experiencing Klipsch for 4 yrs now. I can't see myself ever getting anything else! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  16. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. It sheds some light on what I will want. Esoteric Man-I do know Joe. He's pretty cool. I actually help all the guys when they first opened the Lima store. I was like a kid in a candy store playing with all the equipment! I take it by your name that you have Esoteric cables? That is what I replaced everything with a couple years back. I picked the "200 Series". Nice middle of the road. Not cheap, but not too expensive. It's amazing how improved everything was! It was funny. I had Lynn at the VW shop order it all at once. When it came in,it was in two big boxes. About the subs. I got the coffins from an antique dealer in town here. One of them I actually fit in! I have pics, but have to find them. I had a couple posted on my yahoo photo page, but for some reason my albums are not there. As soon as I find them,I'll post them. Another cool thing I did that no one else in town ever thought of. I bought 4 green StreetGlow neon lights. I installed one behind the tv and three on top of entertainment center. I hooked them up to a 12 volt power supply pack I bought at Radio Shack. They look awesome with all the lights out. I have this big green glow on ceiling and behind tv! I have pics of them to that I will find and post. Thanks again! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
  17. Hello, everyone! I'm new to the boards. I currently have a mismatched speaker system and plan on finishing it next year. I was looking for any suggestions. My main fronts are Klipsch KG 3.5's. What I would like to do is get larger mains and move the 3.5's to the rears (which are currently JBL floorstanding MRV 308's). The 3 styles I really like are CF-4's in the Classic series, KLF-30 of the Legend series, and the KG 5.5's. I'm really leaning toward the Legends. I have always loved them! A couple of years back, I could have bought a pair for $600 at a store closeout. I still kick myself in the rear for not getting them! For the center channel,I was looking at the KLF C7's and the KV 4's. I did read posts about the C7's being much better than the KV 3's. But with the KV 4's a step higher, how do they compare to the C7's? According to the spec page, the KV 4 has a larger tweeter and reaches down to 65 Hz. Whereas the C7 goes down to 75 Hz. A lot of people think I'm crazy for having floorstanding speakers for surrounds. But I always argue that they really make a system pack a punch! I can turn my subs off and still rumble the place! My subs are custum made from antique wooden coffins. I have two of them with (3) 12" Advents in each. They fire down into floor. I am powering them with a Rotel 5 Channel amp (RB-985). System also includes Harman Kardon Receiver (AVR 80). It's amazing how well the 3.5's sound with the AVR 80! To put them to the test,I have the Telarc cd "1812 Overture" with the digital cannons. The 3.5's put the cannons right in my living room! To close,I'm glad to have found these boards for Klipsch lovers! Many people in my area have never heard of Klipsch. So it's good to see everyone here sharing their experiences and helping others looking for certain items! THANKS! ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ
