Fun, yes!  But we weren't doing anything that I would want my kids doing.

Kids are still doing the same things or worse, but now they're forced into more private venues. I don't really see that as a win.

There is nothing for kids 10-17 to do anymore.  Malls are dying due to online sales.  They wonder why kids get in trouble.  If they or their families can't afford to spend on Dave & Busters or some fun place, kids find something.  Hey, I was a dumb teen once.  We broke EVERYTHING and we were stupid.  But we had options.  Now kids don't.  Scary world we live in.
Not quite sure why it is the requirement of the public, or merchants, or the government to provide or give kids "something to do"??  How about parents or family stepping up and figuring it out.  How about participating in organized sports, or volunteering in their neighborhoods, or other outdoor activities.  NO options?  Really?

Yep, every 17 year old wants to hang out at the food bank on Saturday nights.

I think I accidentally upset Ceptorman.  Sorry.  Just an opinion.  But, opinion only, communities do have some responsibility to provide safe, clean environments.  Part of that safety would be controlled venues for young people.  I remember arcades.  They may have smelled a bit funny, but I never saw violence and had something my low middle class family could afford to pay for.  We didn't have money for organized sports e.g. football pads and gear needed to be purchased from the school or a certified supplier and we couldn't afford it.  I don't blame my parents.

Malls - though expensive, offered a public gathering place indoors for those kids who are allergic to sunlight and activity.

And on the sugar soda note - why is our country so against natural ingredients?  Or, when we do get 'natural' or organic, it costs more?  Cane sugar = win

No….it wasn't me, you must have me mistaken for someone else. Plus….it takes a lot to make me mad :D

    You rock Ceptorman!!!!

  3. I thought John Wick was a great movie

Me too!  I had not heard of it.  At all.  Then a buddy told me about it so I went to Redbox for a blu-ray.  Damn good.  Luckily I didn't buy it since the ATMOS version is coming.  But Keanu did well.  Even though it was a movie, when they killed his dog I was nearly yelling at my TV.  But then he killed everyone...so, justice  :o

So.... I've never actually seen (Francis Ford Coppola's) Bram Stroker's Dracula. Despite the stellar cast, it never really captured my interest (unless I;m wrong, I thought it was a slow burn love story). With everything in Sony's arsenal, I have to say it seems like a strange catalog choice to kick off Sony's brand new Cinema Series, complete with 4K restoration & Atmos.  Any of you guys recommend (1992) Dracula?

Dude, you need to see the movie.  All joking aside, even Keanu acts well in this.  Yes, it is a love story told from multiple perspectives, but the dialogue and flow of the story and the building of tension from Dracula's manipulation is superb.  I imagine the ATMOS track will add atmosphere (fancy that huh) to the dread the movie's tone sets.  Crap man, I will buy it for you and ship it.  You need to see this.

The Fifth Element & Leon The Professional are day-one purchases. Looking forward to remastered Atmos version of both. I guess I'll make it a Gary Oldman trifecta.... & pick up Dracula with Atmos. I've never seen it (or even part of it) in the theater, DVD, or cable. One could argue I'll be seeing the best version with my 1st viewing. Thanks for the recommendation !

You won't be upset.  I look forward to your thoughts.  Part of it is narrated by Anthony Hopkins, who also plays an aged Van Helsing.  Some script from the novel is narrated as well as if from a journal.  But it all adds.  I am getting the ATMOS release so I can hear what both the train in the beginning sounds like and the castle.  I bet money the castle sounds awesome.  And most likely creepy as all hell.

NISMO!!!!  Stop making me spend more money!  RAWR!

Thx for the list dude.  I will most likely own them all.

Haaa... good stuff. So far, I have 11 of the 16 available Atmos titles.  I'm excited to see that Terminator Genisys & Mission Impossible get be getting an Atmos release.

Terminator will sound crazy good.  I saw it in an ATMOS equipped theater here in MN.  Holy ballz man!

  8. I have an RC62II that I notice, at certain times on movie and TV sound tracks, almost sounds like someone is talking in a tin can or has a crackling sound. It is not all of the time, but does happen on occasion. I notice it more when someone is yelling in a scene. I really only notice it with voices in a soundtrack.  I had an RC52 before and notice it a bit with the RC52, but not at the level I notice with the RC62II.

Has anyone had this issue before? I'm running my RC62II on a Denon AVR-X2100W and have run the Audyssey calibration a few times now. I bumped up the center level in the AVR by 1db after running calibration. I have the speaker on-top of a TV stand that is 3' tall and the speaker is right at the front edge of the TV stand. The speaker is angled slightly up so it points to ear level of the listening position.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I own an RC-62II, and it has never let me down.  My XO is at 80 for it and calibrated for different levels.  Have you calibrated using any program or microphone?

  9. Thermal limit for most amps in around 150-160 F.  The problem with that is, depending on surrounding electronics, or materials you could damage plywood, plastics and such.  Most amps auto shut-off before the limit, but never rely on that.  See manufacturer manual, they usually list thermals.

  11. In the giant scheme of things, with all of the horrible events going on domestically and internationally, this is just a very miniscule blip on the radar.  I get that.

I am a member of this forum, and this community, and have been for a number of years.  Not nearly as long as some others of course.  This place, and the people in it, are important to me, and I have made many friends here, and participated in many superb events through this community.  And I certainly hope to continue this long into the future.

However, I can not, and will not, tolerate the decidedly blatant offensive and rude statement that is a signature of one specific members every post.  "Klipsch Forums, Full of Audiophools".   This member has stated that it is intended to be offensive and incendiary, so it is "doing it's job" according to his post.

It's an embarrassment, plain and simple.

I respectfully ask that this signature be removed.

I support this statement.  Got your back jimjimbo.

Of course, if you want balls to the wall, go K402.

It's not behind the screen so something that is internal would be nice. Seems like those KI-396's would be nice. Just not a very pretty finish.

C'mon.....you don't hear with your eyes.

This is why we get in trouble with our better halves, we let our eyes dominate our thoughts for the first 6 months and then our ears are ringing for the next 30 years

By the way, I did not say that and will deny, deny, deny.  In today's political climate, surely I can get away with that?

Problem is you wrote it on the internet, and we know everything that is written on the Internet happened.

If it is on the interwebs it MUST be true!

  13. Eh I'll save myself the time and let someone who doesn't have a system already win this so called "reference" system.

Most of us already have much higher caliber systems. I hope someone wins it who has ZERO speakers in their house.

Hope somebody wins!  I say the same though.  I got me some gooooood stuff, no need to enter.

  14. Has anyone listened to both of these? I am looking to get back into Klipsch speakers having had KG4.5 speakers in the past hooked up to a 90w tube system. Regrettably sold them, holding on to Reference 3a MM DE CAPO speakers instead. My 13'x16' current room with tile floor makes a flat based floorstander tricker to get level, my stands have adjustable spikes so easy to place and level speakers. I have bass traps behind listening position. Will the 260's overpower the room or will the 160's be enough? Good reviews on the monitors so was thinking I would like them but at times I miss the bigger sound that a floorstander gives so I would go floorstander as long as the drivers integrate well in the critical midrange area. My room opens to the entry way on one side and the dining room on the other, so bigger speakers should work. I guess I am just looking for a more efficient open sounding speaker and would like any comments from people that have heard these two speakers. Thanks! -high dub

I have the 160M's in my setup and enjoy them immensely.  My room is a bit larger than yours and in every application with my other speakers (see signature), they are crisp and clear, and have no problems keeping up with my ATMOS setup including my RP 280F's.  Using them in Zone 2 configuration, the sound clear with music and are full sounding, especially when coupled with my R-115SW

I would like to see someone start a Reference Premier Owners Group thread.

Can I be in the club?

  16. Not the best pictures but figured I'd share. I was fortunate enough to receive a pallet of speakers today that one (or two) of this forums esteemed members were kind enough to help me acquire. I don't want to get into specifics (or name names since I didn't ask permission) but I feel truly blessed to have stumbled into this forum and been so quickly welcomed and helped. I was able to fit everything except the sub (R115SW) into my Explorer which I'll bring home tomorrow. For your comparison I took a picture showing the 140SA next to the top of the 280FA.

    What you're looking at:

    (2) 280FA's

    (4) RP-250S

    (1) RP-450CA

    (2) 140SA's

Welcome to the forum!!!  Awesome gear and setup.  I just got a bunch of Klipsch gear myself.  Let me tell you, unboxing and setting up is toooooo fun.  I seem to be unpacking a lot lately.  A costly adventure and one of the bestest ever!!

    Congrats again and happy listening!
