The R-115SW is a great sub. I can't speak for the SW-115 though. I did own the SW-311 which was also good, but didn't go very deep. I'd recommend getting an R-115SW both because of its performance and availability of parts if anything happens.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I bought the R-115SW.

Grizzog, doing some searching on here it appears to be your old subwoofer. It's no longer New in box, as I have it setup and working right now.  :D

  2. Planning on getting a new subwoofer this weekend. I have two local choices.

Klipsch R-115SW, new in box. No warranty. $550

    or

    Klipsch SW-115, Used for $325.

They will be used in a 5.1 system, mostly movies and video games. KG 5.5 fronts and KV3 center.

Is the R-115SW worth the extra $225? It looks better, but does it performer better?

    Thanks.

  3. Quank, since you sent him an email I won't speculate publicly what I think they are worth.  Let's hope you sent a "reasonable" offer and let's hope the buyer accepts.  B)

I take it you can pick up locally?

Yes, they are about an hour away from me.

He said he's looking for $2,500. out of my price range, but if anyone is interested, go for it.

  4. I know, way too much. Not even close enough where I could justify going to look at them out of curiosity.

Sounds like he has no idea what he has, and thinks they are worth his weight in gold. I see this all the time with people selling Corvettes

  5. I ended up buying a second Velodyne sub that Arrow#422 found on my local craigslist. this one is a F-1200, a year older than the FSR-12 I bought last week. its about 2'' shorter but looks the same otherwise.

so I have two subwoofers now with a total of $160 invested. I think I did pretty good. Thanks again Arrow#422!!

I ended up buying the FSR-12 that Arrow found in my local Craigslist. Works and sounds great except for a slightly loud white noise at idle. Anyone have experience fixing this noise on them?

Lots of subs will have slightly loud white noise if you crank up the gain.  Try to boost the bass in your AVR then turn the gain down on the sub if you haven't already.

the noise does not change with the gain knob. It's also there when there is no connection from the AVR to the sub .

  7. I've been looking for a sub and two have come up recently on my local craigslist. One is the KSW-15, and the other is the KSW-300.

Poking around online it seems the KSW-300 is a better sub, not sure how much better though.  The 15 is $100 and close to home, the 300 is $250 and over an hour away. The speakers I'm going to be using this with are a pair of KG 5.5 and a KV-3 Center channel.  I don't have any rear speakers yet.

So should I take the drive and get the 300, or buy the cheaper 15 and spend the money somewhere else. Any other recommendations?

    Thanks.
