  1. I just pulled my amp off because my LED wasn't turning on with the subwoofer. That was just a loose connection, but I noticed some over heated caps and google sent me to this thread. I guess mine is on its way out anyday now
  2. Thanks Richard! It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife
  3. Thanks for all the advice guys, I bought the R-115SW. Grizzog, doing some searching on here it appears to be your old subwoofer. It's no longer New in box, as I have it setup and working right now.
  4. It's a craigslist seller who bought two and is selling one. Probably got them for a good deal and it flipping them.
  5. Planning on getting a new subwoofer this weekend. I have two local choices. Klipsch R-115SW, new in box. No warranty. $550 or Klipsch SW-115, Used for $325. They will be used in a 5.1 system, mostly movies and video games. KG 5.5 fronts and KV3 center. Is the R-115SW worth the extra $225? It looks better, but does it performer better? Thanks.

I would hop on these immediately if they were local http://albany.craigslist.org/ele/5334897285.html
  7. Yes, they are about an hour away from me. He said he's looking for $2,500. out of my price range, but if anyone is interested, go for it.
  8. I sent him an email. We'll see what he says
  9. Says to make an offer. http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/ele/5368868472.html

I know, way too much. Not even close enough where I could justify going to look at them out of curiosity. Sounds like he has no idea what he has, and thinks they are worth his weight in gold. I see this all the time with people selling Corvettes

  12. I ended up buying a second Velodyne sub that Arrow#422 found on my local craigslist. this one is a F-1200, a year older than the FSR-12 I bought last week. its about 2'' shorter but looks the same otherwise. so I have two subwoofers now with a total of $160 invested. I think I did pretty good. Thanks again Arrow#422!!
  13. However, this is far from typical. did I pay too much?
  14. If it helps, I just paid $200 for a pair of 5.5s and $85 for a KV3 from the local Craigslist
  15. Lots of subs will have slightly loud white noise if you crank up the gain. Try to boost the bass in your AVR then turn the gain down on the sub if you haven't already. the noise does not change with the gain knob. It's also there when there is no connection from the AVR to the sub .
  16. When the amp is replaced with an aftermarket amp, will the sub still play as low as 20hz, or 18hz in the case of your fsr15?
  17. Hit the AFD button on the front of your Sony to select multi channel stereo. That should turn the Sub on. You might be able to use the sub in 2 channel direct if you set your front speakers to small.
  18. I ended up buying the FSR-12 that Arrow found in my local Craigslist. Works and sounds great except for a slightly loud white noise at idle. Anyone have experience fixing this noise on them?
  19. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Yes I am on a budget, that's why I am looking at used stuff. The KSW-12 for $150 seems like it could be ok, Still think I should hold out for a 15'' though.
  20. room is definitely not sealed. The right side of the room has an open staircase and a 5 foot opening to the kitchen the next 16' to the left is pretty much sealed except for six windows.
  21. nice. are those side speakers really good for anything though?
  22. Am I correct to be looking for 15'' subs, or will a 12'' work with the KG 5.5 also? The person with the KSW-15 isn't getting back to me so I'm still looking
  23. My room is 12'x24'x8'. I'm in Southern NH. Will be using for movies and music, although the 5.5 pair sound great for music right now, but I'm sure everything could sound better with a sub.
  24. I've been looking for a sub and two have come up recently on my local craigslist. One is the KSW-15, and the other is the KSW-300. Poking around online it seems the KSW-300 is a better sub, not sure how much better though. The 15 is $100 and close to home, the 300 is $250 and over an hour away. The speakers I'm going to be using this with are a pair of KG 5.5 and a KV-3 Center channel. I don't have any rear speakers yet. So should I take the drive and get the 300, or buy the cheaper 15 and spend the money somewhere else. Any other recommendations? Thanks.
