  1. I've got some circa 1978 Belles. Running Marantz SR6007 receiver with preouts to Emotiva SA-250 for the Belles.  In a past life I had a tube amp and La Scalas with Crites tweeter and and xover upgrades.  Wanting to upgrade the Belle. Like the Volti route but price is an issue.  Is there a set it and forget it xover that I can get now that will work with stock (or upgraded tweeters if need be) and then get the upgraded horn and 2" driver later? Thanks.

  2. Want to trade my brand new P-17bs for a great to excellent condition Heritage cornwall or belle. I have all the original boxes, packaging, manuals ect. The p-17b sounds too smooth for my ears (very similar to a B&W) I need the mid horn violence to my ears that the cornwall and belle give (La Scala too but I have placement constraints).  I'm located in Northern CA . I'm open to cash offers as well. If you PM me your cellphone number I can send better photos.

  3. They are sealed subs and I LOVE hard tight bass. The Palladiums are more than capable on their own but when I switch to Home Theater duties I love the extra umph.  And since that pic my Emotiva SA-250 came in.  The thing is a beast! It is huge!! almost didn't fit. The Palladiums sound soooooooo smooth and clean on the Emotiva.  I have finally reached audio nirvana (until I move and can go back to La Scala's....)

  4. Thanks for the info! It's the main living room and is for HT and stereo listening (dual duty). I'm all digital using FLAC music files from a PC to the Marantz via HDMI. I'm not opposed to moving to full SS I just know that with the La Scala's they were too bright on the SS gear I had but sounded great on the Jolida (JD202). They are 50w per channel on the Palladium's (4ohm).

    The specs for the Palladiums are: 94dB @ 2.83V / 1m

.....Was honestly contemplating going dual SS for Bi-amping. Maybe a NAD or Rotel

It's a tough battle for me because my setup has to handle both HT and HI-FI Stereo listening.  What brand model would you recommend I look at for a receiver?

  5. Purchasing a pair this week. My current setup is a Marantz SR6007 running preouts to a Jolida Tube amp (35w) to La Scala's (wife exiled and sold).  My question is would it be beneficial to add a SS amp and biamp the Pallidiums using the Tube amp for the highs and the SS amp for the lows?  Would the Jolida be enough on its own? Maybe just run straight from the Marantz and not use tubes? Thoughts?

  6. My wife has exiled my modified La Scalas to the garage. I modified them to have the basebin fire rearward for Khorn type placement.  I have the upgraded crites xovers and crites tweeters in them. I have the original 1973 AA crossovers and tweeters as well. I'm looking to sell all of it as one package but may part out for the right prices. The original parts all work although the xovers are probably due for some cleaning. If local pickup I'd take $1,000 for everything.

  7. Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster.  I recently, about 6 months ago, acquired a set of La Scala's via CL at a very affordable price.  They were road speakers (maybe) and covered in carpet. They sounded awesome but looked pretty rough (NOT wife approved for the living room).  But the sound brings tears to my eyes (in a good way) with certain music.  Sooooo I decided to modify the La Scala's (gasp).  And one of the main reasons I modified it to a Khornish is because we just moved into a new house and the living room has large cubbies on either side of the TV that will act as a large corner for the doghouse.  So I made a new front end on the backside of the La Scala so that the horns are now forward and the bassbin faces back into the cubbies.  I painted the exteriors with Duratex and layed some rosewood veneer on the front.  I also upgraded to Crites 120 tweeters and the new crossover to boot.  I've included some of the pics.  I should be done with them tomorrow morning and be able to test them out then.  I have no skills (I'm good at demo) so this was a test for my meager skills and patience.  Have to have the wife help me align the speakers for mounting and then we are all done!  Any questions or ideas (or criticisms) are welcome. Enjoy the speaker porn :) I christen these the Mini-K's!
