  1. I changed the Amp assign to 7.1 and added in front heights. Then I ran the Audyssey setup again.
  2. Just purchased some new up firing speakers connected to my Denon 4200W. Have watched a few movies with Atnos/DTS:X bit this far I'm unimpressed. I am having a hard time discerning any sounds coming from above. My room is not exactly a home theater room as my current setup resides in my living room which also opens into my dining room. My ceilings are drywall 8" ceilings. I am getting test tones out of the speakers so I know they are functioning properly. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks!
  3. Wanted to thank everyone as I have had my Klipsch speakers for about 6 weeks now and they sound amazing. Thank you to everyone who made recommendations and answered questions. Also thank you to those who recommended Mike as Acoustic Sound Design. Just bought the RP-140SA up firing Atmos speakers to complete my 5.1.2 setup. The price he gave me was 30% cheaper than anywhere else I could find. Again thank you to all!
  4. I use the 650 and it runs my Denon X4200W, Samsung tv, sasmung blu ray etc.
  5. I picked up a Y cable just in case as well. Thanks!

    New TV

Unfortunately that is not accurate information. An HDMI cable is just a dumb pipe. As long as it has the capacity to carry the video signal, then there are no issues. All the new marketing for 4k compatible cables is just nonsense. The only spec someone should be looking at when they buy an HDMI cable is the capacity size. To be honest, most HDMI cables people have should work just fine even with the latest 4k HDR TV's. HDMI 1.4 could actually carry 4k signal, though limited to 8 bit). HDMI 2.0 was released to address 60fps 10 /12bit, etc and then later was updated to 2.0a for HDR. Essentially all the new HDMI does it upgrade the pipe connection to 18gps to allow for the increased signal size. There will be no change in connector size and when we discuss these specs these are specifically hardware specs as again the cable is just a dumb pipe. The new UHD players, at least the ones announced so far are using nothing more than HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2. As long as the TV is cable of supporting HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 you are golden (2.0a is normally just a software upgrade). As HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 is relatively new, prior to 2015 there were very few TV's that supported this. However there are numerous 2015 models out now that support both HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and nearly all 2016 models support both of these.

That's a great TV, the only issues with it is the lack of HDR support and only one input is HDMI 2/HDCP 2.2 though the second issue is irrelevant if you have a 4K compatible receiver.
  8. Ended up going with the Blue Jeans Cable LC-1. Moderately priced and seems like solid quality.

  10. Yes I tried to order said cable listed on their site that listed in stock, and after processing order was told it was out of stock and discontinued, lol.
  11. Monster doesn't make subwoofer cables anymore. You can find old stock on some sites. I know BJC has gotten great reviews and are moderately priced.
  12. Probably been beaten to death, but really any difference in Monster, Monoprice, BJC, etc? I have heard very good things about the BJC LC-1. Anyone have experience?

Correct that's the upscaling. Which model did you buy?

I have to agree with Schu. At this point, with the upcoming content and with the price points of 4k TV's now. There is absolutely no reason to purchase a 1080P if you are in the market for a new TV.

    New TV

4K content is still hard to come by, few things on Netflux, etc. The TV manufacturers also release some with the TV. I believe DirecTV is about to release a channel with 4K content, as well as their is the impending UHD blu Ray releases starting March 1, but I imagine going to be some time before we start seeing wide options of 4K content.

It's honestly hard to go wrong with LG, Samsung or Sony. To future proof at least a few years you are going to want to go with a 4K HDR set with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2. It honestly just depends on your price point.

Are you looking to go 4k?
  18. For the most part I let things like that roll off my back. For the most part the community has been extremely helpful and I certainly appreciate it.
  19. Good call Scrappy, think I might go with the VTI RF series 24 inch. That would put the speakers at eat level.
  20. Unfortunately, I cannot use side walls either. One of the walls is vastly covered by a stone fire place and the other is a stairwell down. This leaves me with my only option of stands So, that being said, any recommendations?
  21. I do not, my back wall is open to the dining room. So I will need two stands to put behind the couch. Was thinking the Sanus NF24 or 31 or 36s. Not sure how high I should place them. At least I think those stands can support them.
  22. Any recommendations? I appreciate all the help!
