  1. That is a great idea and I have thought of that but unfortunately I don't have the space for something like that, as the room all my stuff is in, is the only room in the house available for entertainment. I do agree though and when I am listening to music on these I always just put it in 2 channel straight mode because I don't want any other speaker interfering with the beautiful sound these produce! Aaron, If I may add onto your situation, I have both a 2 channel set up and HT in one room, and I use Forte II,and the KF-28's (Icon) with the Ssynergy center channel(Icon is Synergy). A real simple way to do both 2 channel, and HT would be to get yourself an amp splitter. I have one for my room and use 3 different types of tube amps, and the HT. So you'll be able to hook the AVR and a tube amp up, and just switch off for whatever you want to listen to.And the splitter is not powered, so it won't affect any of the SQ. With the splitter you can hook up one set of speakers to 6 amps, or vice versa. This is what I have http://www.ebay.com/itm/321968017679?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. I have it hooked up the the 3 amps and out to my speakers.I've tried things with it and without it and have not heard a difference in SQ. I also have a manual audio switch that has 2 outputs and 4 inputs, and again no loss on SQ or imaging. And if you're not sure on tubes, get an entry level Class A SET for about $200.00 and try it out. I have 2 turntables, a laptop with external hard drive, a cd player hooked up and no issues whatsoever. This is my set up front end and amps with switches. amps.jpg switches.jpg front end.jpg This of course would be if you use only 1 set of speakers without getting a 2nd set up. If you did get the 2nd set up, you could still use an audio switch for the SET amp, unless you went integrated. I squeezed 2 set ups in my room which is 14 feet wide, but loses 7 feet just because the fireplace is there. I would also look at going used for everything even if you did a 2nd set up,maybe an RF or RFII type system. That's definitely an idea that I have considered too, just running a tube amp for audio and the HT receiver for movies and stuff, a splitter is a good idea. I also pretty much at this point only buy used, it's pretty much the only way I can afford such high quality stuff.
  2. I may be able to squeeze more mains in but they would have to be the tower probably reference series since they are more narrow but I would definitely not be able to do that financially. As of right now really the only thing I could afford is a center and maybe some smaller rears. If I was to do that, it would be something I did later on down the road. Gorgeous setup you have there! those subs are very nice! How do you like them, would you recommend them?
  3. Wow that is a really amazing find! I appreciate you posting that but I am way too far from that person. I guess I could contact them and see if they are willing to ship. I actually found someone in the garage sale section that has one for sale that lives in New York which isn't far from me but they haven't gotten back to me yet.
  4. I guess I should have used a better word than modern. I know exactly what you mean and many have told me the same thing. By modern I meant the receivers of today offer features that I need other than the sound itself like the pass through of HD and all that. I Was saying if I got an older amp I wouldn't be able to get all of those features I need to keep my system running the way it is. Right now I have my computer hooked to my tv through hdmi running at 4k and I wouldn't be able to do that through an older amp. I would need to either hook it up through 3.5mm to rca or optical at best which in my experience wouldn't deliver sound quality anywhere near as good as HDMI cables.

  6. Wow those are absolutely gorgeous! If you don't mind me asking how much did you sell them for?
  7. Yup my dream speaker is the Klipschhorn as well! Funny story, before I really was at all knowledgeable about audio I was raised to believe Bose was the best. When I was younger I purchased a pair of 301's which in all honesty weren't bad so I wanted to step it up and get the 701's because the 901's were out of my price range but after talking with many people that said Bose was really overpriced and nothing special I went with JBL S310's which served me very well for years but at the time I didn't even know about Klipsch. As I stated before, as soon as I heard my first pair, I wanted them bad! As far as amp's go do you guys think I would be wise to replace my receiver? I am very satisfied with how it sounds overall. As I said before I thought they would have a little more bass but I do have a pretty good sub so that's not the biggest deal. I've heard these things play very nicely with tube amp's but I made a thread about that on AVS forums and the majority of the people said I wouldn't even notice a difference. The big downfall I have with Tube amp's is the loss in all the technology. I use my reciever for 4k pass through and 5,1 so I would most likely stick with a solid state modern amp. As far as that goes, what brand do you guys recommend? I have always used Yamaha, and have always been very happy with them.
  8. My thoughts exactly. Not to say I don't love the speakers because I do! Never heard a better soundstage with stronger vocals in my life! That's what I love about Klipsch the horn brings vocals to life!
  9. Wow, you guys have some really nice set ups! What do you mean by run it on phantom?
  10. If I'm not mistaken doesn't the RF-83 have powered 15 inch subs? That's one thing I've come to know is a passive sub will never output as much as a powered. I have to say on another note I just checked out your home theater video tour and that is insane! Looks incredible! Definitely a dream of mine to someday have a theater like that!
  11. Is this still available? I am in CT not too far from you! I am very interested!
  12. I have to fully admit that pretty much what you said is very similar to what got me into klipsch. I bought the Velodyne around 10 years ago when I first bought the JBL's before I ever knew about Klipsch but as I said then I got the Pro Media's for a computer setup and was completely blown away but then my brother bought the Energy take 6 classic's and that little 8 inch sub performed right up there with my 15 inch Velodyne. I was absolutely blown away by that! I can't even imagine what a 15 inch Klipsch would do haha honestly I would probably have to reinforce the windows in my house! As of right now though my main concern is the center and rears. I might upgrade the sub down the line but I wouldn't really be able to afford it right now unless I found a really good deal on a used one. This actually leads me to another question that I have though. I see here and from many people say these speakers have insane amounts of bass and truthfully I am not seeing that with my setup. I mean don't get me wrong they have really great bass but I am not finding that I'm blown away. Maybe that's because I'm comparing it to the bass output of my stand alone subwoofer? Could be a placement issue? I posted pictures of how I have them placed. Any critique as far as that goes would be welcome.
  13. Ya, I was thinking that it would be best to upload a picture of my whole setup as well. Haha, excuse the printer on the floor I am in the process of finding a better spot for it. I had it on the sub but it was making a horrible rattling noise. That's an insane deal for the Hersey! Was that 340 each or for all 3??
  14. Ya, that definitely makes sense. I've always had budget speakers for my rears. I guess it's time to change that!
  15. I'm awfully glad I inquired about this because i'm finding that getting a single speaker from the heritage line will be much cheaper than getting a reference premier center that I was previously thinking of. In fact so much cheaper that I may be able to squeeze in replacing the rears as well with some Klipsch. Would you guys suggest doing that or would you say just leave the rear's alone? Right now I am running JBL ES20's I have no complaints with them plus the rears really don't do all that much compared to the mains and center. Definitely open to suggestion though.
  16. Wow. I didn't even know about that Academy speaker. I agree though, the more I think about it I would be much better off sticking with the vintage speakers.
  17. Sorry about the way the pictures came out haha I don't know why that happened.
  18. Wow thank you all for the responses! I"m extremely happy to see that this forum has so much activity! I can see it's going to be one of my new favorite forums! Heres some pictures of them. I do have the grills which are also in mint condition, I just love the way they look so I keep them uncovered. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this but is it bad at all to leave the speakers uncovered all the time? I don't have any children or pets or anything that may cause them damage.
