  1. I cant put ceiling speakers in the middle of my living room, thiers too much stuff in the way in the attic( tons of ceiling joists and beams going 500 different directions as this is pretty much the center of the house and everything is braced here) That's why I went with the RP-280FA atmos towers.
  2. I've finally all but finished my setup and it sounds amazing except for a few areas.. The way the sound is dispersed is nothing short of amazing while listening to music. It sounds as good as being in a recording studio in my home now. The trouble is when I play movies I really don't get the bold bullets flying by you, and all the special effects that should be passing from the left to right and front to rear surround channels. It just sounds like it's being "mushed all together" lol obviously I think I remember someone was telling me to use direct fire bookshelve speakers instead of my rp-250s's I bought for the rear and sides, so now I'm stuck with 1,600 bucks of speakers I really don't need. I'm probably going to go ahead and buy the largest bookshelf speakers this week and see if I can hear any better imaging. I cannot hear any type of transitions at all when gun fire shoots from a side to another or ricochets or any type of atmos stuff at all. I think all of this sound bouncing around all the time from all directions is probably canceling everything out. Now the main question I have now is how do you guys hang bookshelfs on the wall and have them sound good if they all have rear ports?? hate to go spend more money and still be left with disappointing movie surround sound. It plays plenty loud it just doesn't have any type of clarity of where the sound effects is coming from if that makes any sense at all?
  3. I'm trying to find a nice Audio/video equipment rack where I can set up everything, that has optimum air circulation, wire management capabilities, and big enough on top to hold my RP-450CA and preferably be black to match all of my black audio equipment and klipsch gear. can some of you guys point me in the right direction and take some pics of your setups? Thanks
  4. for my setup I bought two RP-280FA's for the front and two CDT-5800-C-II's to go into the ceiling behind the couch.
  5. I went to the AVS website and they have the settings laid out over there, just have to read thru 200 pages to find what your looking for.. Everyone has installed this 4k player on every imaginable combo tv and receiver imaginable and it was hard to find one that had my specific tv.. After spending about 20 minutes changing the settings on the tv and the 4k player, its just astonishing how crisp and crystal clear everything has become!! The colors are so bright and vivid now and just jump out at you. From what I have gathered this 4k player is "ONLY BENEFICIAL" to those who have atleast one of the best top tier 4k tvs such as a Samsung series 8500 - 9500. Anything under this will not benefit from it at all from what people have seen so far. This has been by far the best $400.00 I've spent In a long time. I'm already wanting to start saving for that Samsung 4k SUHD 78" 9 series tv as this 55" is just too small for the 13' wall it is now currently on.
  6. My god what a difference what a difference a "true 4k player makes" I was able to find a Samsung UBD-K8500/ZA I had been just been playing blu-rays on my playstation 4 for the longest time and the picture on my 55" 9500 4k UHD series Samsung tv has been pretty bad imo. I shouldn't be able to see pixels from 10' back imo on a $4,500 tv. Thiers soo many settings for sound and video I really don't know how to configure this thing to get the best quality sound for my 7.1.4 dolby atmos setup. Is it best to let the Samsung player decode the data or let my Yamaha RX-A3050 decode everything? will my receiver automatically pick the best highest quality audio format to play? All this is soo new to me guess I have a lot to learn. Just want to make sure I'm getting the best possible sound and picture possible. Please help.. heres a link to the Samsung UHD 4k player I purchased: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/home-audio/UBD-K8500/ZA
  7. I play a ton of music on my surround sound. So i guess it would matter if the reccessed light covers would make it sound like garbage id perfer not to use them. Hate to spend 800 bucks on speakers and not even get to hear the sound quality from them.
  8. I recently purchased a pair of these CDT-5800-C-II speakers to finish out my 7.1.4 dolby atmos surround sound setup. I'm just wondering what would offer me the best sound quality and bass response? Building a custom mdf enclosure for these and filling it halfway with polyfill or just letting them play out into the attic? My house is already 3 yrs old so installing the prebuilt boxes from Klipsch won't work as these have to be installed before the drywall is put up supposedly. My attic doesn't have the pink rolled up insulation, it has the loose white cottony stuff and I'm afraid it'd mess up the speaker being buried under this stuff? What size should the enclosure be? thanks
  9. I went with the Yamaha RX-A3050. Like others have said you can't go wrong with any of those choices really. I listen to a lot of music and watch 4-5 Blu-ray movies a week and think It does a beautiful job at both. My equipment is pretty much the same as yours.. 2-RP-280 FA left and right front channels and left and right front height channels 1-RP-450CA center channel 4-RP-250S side surrounds & rear surrounds 2-CDT-5800-cII rear height channel 1-R-112SW Subwoofer
  10. Finally got most of my equipment temporarily installed. (Don't worry these speakerwires are going in-wall once I know what height works best..) Moved my tv to the flatwall, and the sound is nothing short of phenominal with these speakers compared to the bose trash I had before.. I haven't even used the room calibration setup up tool yet. Still want your guys opinions on mounting height for the rear surrounds and the side channels. Right now the bottom of the RP-250S's are 64" from the floor. And I'm 6' excactly I'm thinking they are a little high for atmos reasons and for watching movies, etc. Might be ok for listening to music. How far would you recommend I move these down to? heres some pics of how they are mounted now so you can see what they look like. I still haven't picked up the final set of the RP-250S's for the rear surround that will go behind the couch on the kitchen wall about 14' behind the couch. Also planning on adding a set of CDT-5800 ceiling speakers behind the couch for atmos. but these will probably be a few months down the road.. Also decided to move the sub forward in the room to the forward right corner and it sounds soo much more solid and precise.
  11. The guy who installed my RP-250S's for my side channel's hung them around the 6' mark. Which I thought was atleast a foot to 1.5' too high, as I also thought all the speakers should be at ear level when seated? His theory was since their is a couch on that wall less than 3" from that speaker he didn't want it blasting the person sitting in the couch along the wall. Even though no one ever sits there, LOL Do you think my Yamaha RX-A3050 should compensate for this when having it do the room calibration thing? or is this something that needs to be corrected? I am also planning on purchasing another pair of RP-250S's to hang on the back wall for rear surrounds should those go at the 5' height as well? Thanks
  12. I'm currently in the process of doing my 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system amd am confused as hell.. I know the placement of the speakers is crucial, At what height are your side speakers going? Dolbys site says side channel speakers as long as they are not atmos enabled do not have to follow this rule? So basically only the front channel would follow this rule for me being I'm using the RP-280FA's with built in atmos speakers. I also plan to add in two more atmos speakers behind my couch into my ceiling. which would you recommend? Love your build its going together very nicely, wish I had the space for something as big as this
  13. Thats kinda what I figured.. I thought whats the point of doing the microphone equalization thing?? I'm just going to buy 6-8' of 10 gauge wiring for the front channels and the rears will get whatever they need as well. I really didnt see the point in having a lot of wasted wire just bundled up behind the entertainment center just being wasted that couldve had the front channels reduced in DB to make up for the increase in resistance of the longer runs for the sides and rear channels..
  14. I had a Installer come over today with 32 years of A/V experience and had a ton of suggestions and soon as I mentioned yours, He took it and ran off with it and didn't stop, lol I could see the excitement in his eyes. I guess In a way we all love big fun builds. I'm thinking this idea is more ideal for the type environment I have in my house.. I'm going to move my tv, and my stampeding bulls picture to over the fireplace. This will solve the majority of my problems within this room. It will also solve the how do I support my Klipsch RP-450CA center channel speaker on a 8.5" mantle and the center channel speaker is like 14.5" and would look really bad on the mantle IMO. So now I can put it onto my entertainment center below my tv and put the towers on each side firing directly at the main listening position. The main changes I'll be making will be I'll be moving the right & left rp-450s's to the appropriate locations one will be right in between the windows around the 5' mark and the other is pretty much inline with it already I'll just have to have the installer move down the speaker wire about 2' as right now it's about 7' in the air and too high. I've decided to add in two more rp450s's on the back wall also to get the full 7.1.4 atmos effect. This wall is around 10-12' behind the listening couch and should offer good rear fill I hope for the rear of the room. Lastly I'm going to install 2 ceiling speakers eventually to get the full atmos effect since my receiver supports 4 height speakers and these will be about 3' behind the main couch. The installer did find some problems with the install of my speaker wires that the contractor did from DR Horton. First they are only 16 gauge, not good at all for what I'm wanting for good quality sound, and safety. Second this wiring isn't even UL approved to be installed in-wall !! This really kinda ticks me off as I paid 700.00 to have surround sound prewired for my home and they basically thru cheap 10 cent a foot wire in there.. Well anyways all that has to be ripped out and started over. Would this wiring right here suffice? I'm wanting the best quality wire that has the most fine strand count possible for clarity.. Hopefully never have to upgrade wiring again.. http://www.knukonceptz.com/sp/kl3-kable-102-audiophile-cl3ul-in-wall-speaker-wire/ Lastly just how important is it for each speaker to have the same length speaker wire as the other one?? I keep getting conflicting views on this, some people say only match the front stage L/R/C speaker wire length... then match the sides.. then match the rears.. that way they are balanced. then some people say all speakers should have the same length wires. I just find it hard to buy 42-44' of speaker wire for the center channel and L & R speaker when they will not need even a 1/5th of that. Will the difference in sound even be noticeable?
  15. Never heard of 5.2.1 what is that? I really dont want to move the tv.. The way DR Horton builds these houses they "prewire" the tv to go above the fireplace like i have it so no wires are shown.. They even have electrical outlets prewired to that location behind the tv. My tv is a 55" Samsung 4k 9 series HDTV with the curved front panel. So glare is very minimal and every position gets a pretty good view

  17. I know this is probably little late to ask this but what is the "preferred" audiophile speaker wire for excellent sound quality? I'd like to keep it under $2.75 a foot if possible and have it shielded if you think it needs it? Probabaly pay a home audio place to come rewire all of this beacuse the place that wired my house when it was built used cheap cheap 18 gauge wire and its crap. I hate it i'd prefer the wire that is twisted and insulated two wire and four wire for the atmos fronts. For the fronts could I get by with 16 gauge or would 14 gauge be best to use for everything?? Thanks for all your help
  18. Also amazing work on the 3d program thats soo damn neat!! What program did that? It looks excactly like my house lol more than my drawing did and i live here lol Getting soo excited cant wait to hear all of this together.
  19. Mustang guy i guess thier might be some good news in this madness I have 9 ft ceilings I just measured. And i have excactly 21.5" from door molding to bottom of the trim coming off of my ceiling. So i should be able to fit the RP-250's or what ever RP surround speaker would sound best.. I see a line drawn between both surround speakers is this to show that they have to be at same height and at same angle? I havent messed with any of this surround sound stuff since the late 90's so i'm very rusty.. Also is it bad that i want the RP -250's over just the single direction speakers? Wouldnt broadcasting the sound various directions bounce it off the walls faster and give it better fill?
  20. My drawing skills suck, lol the tv is pointed almost perfectly at the couch we sit on. This was one of the first times I have used paint, and took like 2hrs to do just this drawing, lol Sorry about not making things clear. I did not realize you had the floorstanding front speakers with the built in Atmos modules. I was suggesting side surrounds and a single rear surround in that corner behind/between the sofa and love seat because I thought the room was more closed in. Bill No sorry I should've explained my drawing better theirs no walls behind the viewing couch for like 12-15 feet, only walls is the one 4' short wall directly behind subwoofer to left of the viewing couch, wall on the right and on the front. I have the RP series speakers think someone stated before to stay within that same series for the whole setup? I dunno why? Maybe makes it easier for the processor on my Yamaha receiver to do the processing and crossover changes thru the automated setup? this sounds like a ideal setup somewhat roboklipsch.. I'm just trying to make the room sound good from the couch we watch tv in. I totally understand it will not sound "perfect" in the right wall couch as I already plan to put "company" or "inlaws" there hahahaha could you draw me a simple drawing to kinda give me a better idea what your talking about? you can just print out my drawing and hand draw where to put the stuff and I should get the idea.. If it will help everyone more when I wake up today I can measure the dining room area and make a new picture and upload it onto page one. I have a feeling I'm going to have to end up using some of this real estate for the sound stage to make it sound right.. which I don't mind at all. long as the speakers are on the walls out of the way it'll be easier to get the wife to approve of it, lol
  21. Willand was very vague. I didnt understand excatly what he was telling me to do? Was he wanting me to add three rear fill speakers? And totally disconnect my atmos from my front speakers?? What about putting the RP-250's inside the dining area its rather large about 10x15 or so and would be directly behind the listener during watching tv..
  22. heres the shot of front facing rear.. plenty of room to put stuff into the ceiling if you guys think that is the best best for audio quality.. really hate to go backwards.. and tearing down walls or selling the house isn't a option, lol
  23. Didn't know the cost of a house would be such a big issue, lol yes to most middle class americans $225,000 is probably a lot of money to spend on a home, but to most of you guys on here who drop 20-30k on home audio yea it's probably nothing. I only make 31 bucks a hr and work hard for what I have and it's what I can afford. The county taxes here are outrageous averaging around 6k a year alone in the South Arlington area in Texas. Now back to the important stuff, lol here are some shots of the living room, even with the blinds open the lighting is horrible in my home.. Homebuilders are so cheap these days not wanting to install nothing but maybe one light in each room its ridiculous. Still don't have the RP-450Ca as it was just purchased I just haven't built anything for it to sit onto. My mantle is very narrow only 8.5" back to front and the 450ca is like 14.5" I really think it would look a little tacky hanging off the mantle with 6" dangling (supported by wood of course underneath) would it sound alright if I built a stand for it to sit inside my fireplace? I never use it and can elevate it high as possible within that area.. Whats your guys opinions? hope this helps.. LOL please excuse my laziness with not removing the stupid bose cubes.. I whether look at them than holes in the drywall, my friend is supposed to comeover and help me fix all the holes once I get all my speakers. So figured just leave them all hanging till then.
